Pony Corral / Re: Who was your first pony?? :-D
« on: June 22, 2012, 08:48:03 AM »
I was 3 or 4, and my first pony was CP Cotton Candy, and my sister got Applejack. That started it off. We both loved "playing ponies."

I have a Posey with light pink hair for sale, but alas she has some slight rusting to the tail. Let me know if you're interested.

My regret is similar to Xaniss:

When I started collecting ponies when I was younger, I actually kept ALL of the backcards and boxes. I figured they'd be worth something one day. I had my closet filled with them (It was a walk-in closet). But when I went away to college, my mom wanted me to clean out my room, and I decided that I hadn't done anything with these boxes (eBay wasn't in existence by then yet, this was in 1997), and I wasn't so sure anymore that they'd be worth anything. It tore my heart out to throw them all away, but I thought I was hanging onto just memories and nothing more, that they weren't going to be worth anything and I was just fooling myself. So I got this big garbage bag and said goodbye to all my pony packaging.

I hate snipers and I have no time for stuff like that. I usually just put in my high bid and if I win, I win; if not, it wasn't meant to be. If it's something I really want, I will come back maybe a half hour before the auction ends and enter a higher amount just to be safe, especially if I've already been outbid, but normally I just leave it alone and watch people go crazy in the last few seconds and the auction amount go higher and higher and feel glad I didn't bid any higher.

Pony Corral / Re: current price guide for G1's?

My price guide is actually updated weekly and a lot of prices don't change as much as others think. But there are trends, like Euro ponies have been up in price the past couple of years. Click the link in my sig to check it out.

Pony Corral / Re: TE Bright Eyes and Oxiclean?
« on: June 07, 2012, 08:10:49 PM »
The "purple dye" is actually a common thing on Bright Eyes, I've found. I've had several go through my hands and have found it on them. The one thing that seems to remove it without hurting the pony is acetone, but you can't use it over the symbols because it will remove the symbols. I think the "purple dye" might actually be plastecizer breakdown/leakage. And if it is, it might answer why the oxiclean bath affected her like that. It's just a guess, though.

Pony Corral / Re: Cute Husband Moment
« on: June 03, 2012, 09:13:42 AM »
My hubby has never really supported my pony collecting per se, but he's never been totally against it, either. If you'd ask him he'd say differently, however, but I think it's in teasing. But, for my story: My grail had always been UK variant Princess Royal Blue with glow in the dark hair from the moment I had laid eyes on her. But she is always so expensive. My husband frowns at me buying a $20 pony, so buying a $200 is so out of the question. But one week there were two on eBay and I showed them to him and I told him all about them and how much I wanted them. Well, they sold around the $200 mark of course without him bidding for me. I was disappointed. They don't come around very often.

Then, like a week later, someone has one for sale on the Arena. I tell him about it, and to my surprise, he tells me I can buy her for my birthday gift. I am shocked. So, I am the proud owner of my grail thanks to my hubby. He even suggested getting a display case for her and everything. :)

I will have to say the G2s as well. When I saw them for the first time, I was like, "Why, Hasbro, why?" But now, I think they're not so bad, and some, like Clever Clover, even have stolen my heart.
