Off Topic / We are now a family of 3 ~ Our lil prince made his debut
« on: November 28, 2016, 09:59:00 AM »
Just wanted to share our exciting news...

After a long and difficult labour that had an entire delivery team (Midwives, OB, NICU, Nurses and some residents) on edge for the duration of it, Declan Carter Hills finally arrived November 26, 2016 @ 11:59pm weighing 6 lbs 12 oz and measuring 19.5" long. Baby and I are doing great, we are home from the hospital now and enjoying some family bonding just the 3 of us.

I purchased a few silicone molds so I could make some Christmas ornaments and I'm not sure what I can put in them to make the mold/cast it. I've tried googling for answers but I'm either wording it wrong or I'm just completely lost on what they are talking about in various articles.

I know I can melt crayons, candle wax and soap... but I'm really looking for more long term options. These molds have very fine details so I'm definitely wanting something that will capture them as best as possible.

Open to any and all suggestions... the only thing I have ever used before is sculpey clay bricks and I cant get it soft enough to capture the details.

Thanks in advance :)

Customs / Kawaii/Cute Swap Pony for Archidraca ~ Autumn Kogepan
« on: October 05, 2016, 04:39:23 AM »
I had Archidraca as my swap partner for the Kawaii/Cute swap and she had some really fun ideas and colour schemes to choose from  ^.^

The pony I was originally working on met an untimely demise in the oven during the sculpting phase
So... I decided to chuck that idea out the window all together and go a completely different route.

One of her ideas was for Kogepan, and, one of her fav colour schemes was burgundy, black, cream and gold... so I decided to design a pony with the kogepan and incorporate autumn/halloween into the design using that colour scheme since it's that time of year  ^.^

This pony was given a FBR using acrylics, Kogepan and Candy Corn were sculpted by hand, sealed, rehaired using DH sunlight, chocolate pudding, exotic, tiramisu and pumpkin spice and finished off with a pretty tail ribbon.

Here she is

I recently found a Tango the Ladybug Keypers Backpack and I've been trying to find out how much it's worth. The only listing on ebay is for a NFRB Tango Backpack, which isn't helpful lol.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pony Corral / In search of infant set featuring Glory
« on: July 09, 2016, 01:31:36 AM »
Hey everyone,

It's been quite awhile since I've been around. Hubby and I have been busy getting things ready for our little bundle of joy that's arriving in November

I remember seeing a post on the arena a while back (I'm thinking in the last 2 years) about a store in either the US or UK that had brought out this adorable Glory infant/baby set. I think it was a headband and booties? Well, I have spent hours trying to find that specific post on the arena (I did try using the arena search feature, but it wasn't working too well for me, I kept getting an error code), as well as trying to google images of it and I haven't had any luck. I'm hoping someone here might know what I'm talking about and can point me in the right direction.

I'm hoping against hope that I'll either be able to track one down on ebay or perhaps find someone who's interested in parting with their set.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Customs / Private Twisted Fairytale Custom Swap w/ Dashesndots ~ Dark Alice
« on: November 08, 2015, 06:49:26 PM »
When the Twisted Fairytale Swap fell through, dashesndots and I decided to do a private one. Alice in Wonderland was one of the choices on her list and one of my new obsessions, so I just knew I had to make her a custom based on that.

Now I'm not great at coming up with backstories for customs, but my whole thought process was that Alice had been in Wonderland for so long that the madness had begun to take over, driving her to kill the Red Queen. This led to Alice being consumed by darkness and becoming the new Queen of Wonderland. I also made some little extras to go along with the custom which incorporate various things from Wonderland (The White Rabbit, Teacups, Queen of Hearts card, a Heart and the bird used for a Croquet.

Sculpting was done using Premo Sculpey, painted in acrylics and sealed with Folk Art Sealant, rehaired using DH After Midnight, Lapis Sapphire, Buttercreme and Goldilocks.

Now on to the photo's...

I was out thrifting today and I came across these gorgeous girls. Each one was individually wrapped and placed in the bag (I have never seen that before), normally the store just tosses 3-5 dolls in one bag and seals it up.
Anyways, I could tell by looking that they are older than the barbies that I collect, so when I got home I opened them up and sure enough I have never seen a Barbie where the info is on the bum vs the lower back.

I tried to look them up on ebay  and on the Barbie reference site, although I may have a rough idea who 1 or 2 of them are, I'm not too sure because doll identification can be complicated in the land of Barbie when it comes to the vintage dolls. So I would appreciate any help that you guys can provide me with. Sorry about some of the photo's being turned, photobucket never co-operates with me

The beautiful Twisted Fairytale Snow Bite custom that she made me  The picture really doesn't do it any justice at all. She's been reposed and even comes with a stand that's been decorated to look like forest ground.

Customs / Newest Custom: Laila
« on: October 13, 2015, 11:30:14 AM »
Finally got back into the spirit of customizing after working on one for a private swap (you'll have to wait like 3-4 more weeks for pictures of that one though lol) and I decided to make a pretty G4 Unicorn. Her name is Laila, which is Scandinavian for Night; Dark Beauty

Started with a twilight base that was given a fbr using acrylics. I painted her design on and sealed her. Painted her eyes and sealed those. Last but not least she was rehaired using DH Mermaid, Stormy Sky and Moonlight.

I recently purchased a non pony item via ebay this past weekend. I went to check the tracking today and noticed that the seller has chosen to send it using DHL Courier as opposed to USPS First Class as stated in their listing.

I'm concerned that I'll be stuck paying hefty import charges for an item coming through that service, I know that had the purchase been sent out as stated in the listing it would've just gone through without any issues.

I understand as a buyer I am responsible for any import/additional charges, however if I had known they weren't going to send it via USPS I never would've purchased from them. The item is $22 CAD, literally $2 over what is allowed to come into Canada without additional fees. I have never paid import charges for anything below $60 CAD except items sent using a courier.

The seller is a top seller with 99.8% positive feedback, well over 30,000 transactions to date. I did go back through their feedback and I can see tons of positive, neutral and negative all complaining about sending via courier as well as selling knockoff products or used products when the item is listed as new (Odd that the feedback wouldn't be worse). To be honest, when a seller has darn near perfect feedback, I don't tend to read through them, which would be my own fault.

Is there anything at all I can do about this? How would you handle it if you were in my situation?

Iris Patch had a wonderful list of ideas to choose from, I'll admit that I was torn between making a Tropical Pony or a Sundae Best Pony. In the end I decided that there were far too few Tropical Ponies, so without further ado, here's Tahiti Treat.

Made from a bowtie bait, repainted in acrylics, sealed and then rehaired using DH Key Lime, Virgin Snow and Sunset. I decided to add a tail ribbon for the finishing touch, G1's just aren't complete without them :P

The Dollhouse / Can you help me ID this doll please? Solved, thanks!
« on: June 15, 2015, 12:28:35 PM »
I had some pretty awesome dolly luck this weekend when I was out thrifting with my husband :) Managed to find an American Girl doll and Disney Animators Rapunzel which were really exciting finds. However, I also got another doll that I thought was quite beautiful but I can't seem to identify her. Hopefully someone here can help me?

She was made in 1999, 14" tall and seems to be made from hard plastic. There's a signature on her back but I can't seem to make out what it says.
Here are some pics.
