Trader & Shipping Support / aroa678 - Where are you?
« on: May 27, 2013, 06:03:21 PM »
I am posting here in attempts to catch the attention of Aroa, or hopefully anyone else that may be in the middle of trades or sales with her.

I have previously bought a MH custom doll from Aroa and had a prefect transaction. Couldn't have been happier! So I thought dealing with her again would be safe.

Around April 9th, I sent a doll I had rerooted to her to recieve a custom faceup, in trade for three of my nude dolls. Aroa promised me a sketch of the proposed faceup so I could approve it. The sketch was promised over and over, and it was never produced.

April 25th, I told her I understood if there were delays so long as she would communicate with me. April 26th, she promised to get me the sketch and promised to keep in touch with me.

May 12th, I ask her for an update, since it had been about two weeks.. She logged on May 13th.. No reply.

May 18th, I told her I was uncomfortable with the lack of communication and asked for her to please return my dolls or show me the promised sketch, and asked her to get back to me by May 22..

So.. Still no reply. No dolls. I'm out a doll that took me a month to reroot since I worked on her like 5 min at a time, as well as three nudes.

I still hope this all works out safely, since like I said, I had a good dealing with her in the past. But if anyone knows how to get the word to her, or if anyone else is dealing with her.. I guess just play it safe..

Aroa, if you are reading this, please PM me. I won't scream and yell or be mean. I'm happy to work something out with you so we can both be happy. I promise :)

The Dollhouse / For the serious photographers and artists in general
« on: April 29, 2013, 07:55:31 PM »
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/04/29/err_act_landgrab/

Here is an excerpt of the above link

Quote
Previously, and in most of the world today, ownership of your creation is automatic, and legally considered to be an individual's property. That's enshrined in the Berne Convention and other international treaties, where it's considered to be a basic human right. What this means in practice is that you can go after somebody who exploits it without your permission - even if pursuing them is cumbersome and expensive.

The UK coalition government's new law reverses this human right. When last year Instagram attempted to do something similar, it met a furious backlash. But the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act has sailed through without most amateurs or semi-professionals even realising the consequences.

The Act contains changes to UK copyright law which permit the commercial exploitation of images where information identifying the owner is missing, so-called "orphan works", by placing the work into what's known as "extended collective licensing" schemes. Since most digital images on the internet today are orphans - the metadata is missing or has been stripped by a large organization - millions of photographs and illustrations are swept into such schemes.

Im honestly not sure how this all will affect people, since this has just happened, and since I don't live in the UK.. But I think it's worth noting.

Since I know of a few people here to do serious or semi serious photography or artwork, I thought It might be something you would want to read. Especially if you have been on the fence about watermarks and how you use them.

The Dollhouse / Luts Senior Delf Type 4
« on: April 25, 2013, 01:15:11 PM »
Does anyone own the Luts Senior Delf type 4 female body? If so, I was wondering if you could post pictures of how the knee joint looks when the leg is bent under the body, like how you sit with your feet tucked under you and to the side? And if possible, I would like to see the bare joint.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it :) I know sometimes "show me" threads can be obnoxious, but I'm not sure if I am finding the right images when I google search.

And if you care to comment on how this body poses at all, please feel free to share your opinions!

The Dollhouse / Help me make an informed decision?
« on: April 22, 2013, 03:03:06 PM »
I've been a stalker here for a while, admiring all the gorgeous resin dolls posted. But lately I have found myself seriously beginning to consider purchasing my first doll. Only, I know so very little abo0ut them. I see people show off photography and say that the doll in such and such, but I can barely tell brand from style.

The doll currently catching my eye is a Luts Senior Delf Yuri.. Did I list the doll type correctly? :) But I think Im beginning to realize that it's the body types I like most, and not the face. (Though her face is gorgeous, I want one with more open eyes) I would love to have a shorter doll, since she is a bit big, but I havent seen shorter dolls with faces or bodies that appeal to me as much as these do. I really like the more mature look. I don't want a doll that looks too young (yet!)

If I bought a Luts doll, could the head fit on the body from another company?

If I want high articulation and pose ability, who do you think is best? I'd prefer something around 40cm, but not much shorter than that.

Is it worth paying the company for the faceup/blushing or are there artists out there who I could commission who would charge less and still do a good job?

Does anyone have pics of Luts Senior Delf Yuri or Kara they would be willing to share?

Im not going to be buying any time soon. Im trying to wrap my mind around the idea of spending that much money on a doll. I would be selling off some things I collect to get the money together. I just have to justify the doll purchase in my head.

Trader & Shipping Support / 07012001 Yeah.. That's an eBay ID...
« on: April 12, 2013, 01:17:45 AM »
I woke up this evening to find that the buyer 07012001  had bid on two of my Monster High auctions. One had already ended :( They just joined ebay on the 3 maybe? And have 0 feedback. And when I do an advanced search for items they had bid on, the list is two pages long   >_< And they are in Russia and the items they bid on I am only offering Priority or express shipping..

I sincerely DOUBT I will get paid for the items. I just wanted to give folks a heads up and to see if maybe anyone else has had them bid on and actually pay for something.

The Dollhouse / Quick question - tools
« on: April 01, 2013, 08:05:57 AM »
Just a quick question. I have finished my first rehair, almost, and I want to shorten the length while leaving the natural look at the ends. I know there is a hair stylist tool that will do the trick. A comb with a razor embedded in the tines. But I have no idea what that tool is called. Does anyone know? I'm pretty sure this will give me the natural look I am wanting.

Thanks!

« on: March 06, 2013, 10:47:19 AM »
I checked Ravie's MH Hair thread, but I didn't notice Skelita listed. I was wondering if anyone knows if her hair will take a boil perm at all?

Thanks!! :D

The Dollhouse / Show me your Monster High Display - Just the Jisplay
« on: February 27, 2013, 07:07:17 AM »
Im going to be reorganizing the house this weekend to make more room and to get my husbands computer out of the bedroom. I would like to spend a little of my paycheck to get a better display setup for my dolls. Currently I am just using the cheapie $30 5 shelf book cases from Wal-Mart, but they just BARELY fit my dolls. Boys, catgirls, or werewolfs cannot even fit on the second shelf, and I really only have room to put then 2 deep. No room to make bleachers so I can see the back row.. It's so limiting.

So please, show me how you display your dolls. But please make the focus of the picture on the display materials, and not the dolls themselves. I want to be able to see your shelf, or book case, or china hutch, or table.. Whatever it is you use to display them on. The dolls can be blurry blobs in the photos :)

Thank you so much!

Also welcoming any and ALL ideas!

Trader & Shipping Support / Advice Needed: South Africa Postal Strikes
« on: February 22, 2013, 06:53:27 AM »
Hi there. :) I have a bit of an unusual situation.. WildLace and I recently had a transaction.. She bought me some MH dolls to ship to me from South Africa, and she shipped them out on Feb 15th. Currently tracking shows them as sitting in a bag ready to go out, but when she checked on why they haven't moved, they told her it was because of an illegal strike.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this situation? I was wondering if she might be able to get them to give her the package back and refund her shipping till the strike is over, but I sort of doubt they will.

I'm still well within the 45 day limit to file a claim with paypal, but the thought of it coming to that makes me unhappy, because this isn't her fault at all. Will paypal buyer and seller protection cover us both in this case?

I'm just really at a loss and I know that strikes can last months sometimes. Any advice on how to handle this going forward will be greatly appreciated by both her and I.

Hey guys.. I have been auctioning off some stuff, among it all are a few lots of bait ponies. Most are about 8 ponies to a lot, but one has 20, and some might be 10 or so. Anyway.. Im just a little bit worried...

Two people are bidding on all 5 of my bait lots.. One bidder joined ebay only on Feb 8th. She's winning 4 of the 5 auctions.. She has 10 feedback, all positive, and I have ebay set to block bidders with 2 or more unpaid items within the last month or two.. So she must not have had anyone file a claim against her.. But currently her winning total will be something like $133 + Shipping costs for like 44 ponies, give or take a few. One might even be a gigantic styling G3.

It just seems so dubious. I mean, The other bidder has way better feedback, and doesn't seem to be fighting to win anymore.. But I guess Im just really uneasy with a brand new ebayer, who has already been buying this month, bidding up all of my auctions.. Im so worried they won't pay, and I'll be screwed out of selling the items since she bid it up so high for the other person.

Is there any website that will let me put in a buyers ID, and let me look and see if they are bidding on many other things? I think If I could know she wasn't bidding on a lot of other stuff, I would feel better.

The Dollhouse / Clawd comparison?
« on: February 15, 2013, 06:19:55 AM »
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if Forbitten Love Clawd and 1600 Clawd have a matching skin tone. Im trying to figure out if the spare 1600 arms Mattel is selling would fit with Forbitten Clawd.

As the title says, I am having trouble filing a non paid item report. I remembered that I had enabled ebay to automatically file them for me, but I didn't realize that the default setting was for 30 days. :( I dont want to give the person 30 days to pay. I wanted to give them the standard 3.

Well, I changed the setting to three days, but when I go to "resolve a problem", it still says that a non paid item ticket will be opened automatically on March 11. I really do not want that. The only other option it gives me is to look up another transaction number.

Am I just screwed? Or is there a way around this? I'm prepared to call ebay tomorrow if needed.

The Dollhouse / Sig Operetta's hair :(
« on: February 02, 2013, 01:20:49 PM »
I ordered operetta when Walmart had their sale a bit ago. The box arrived and when I opened it, operettas box was crushed and broken and in a very mangle state. I figured if the doll was ok then I'm ok. I don't keep the boxes anyway.

But look at this hair.

It's just so nappy and choppy. It's horrible. The hair is super short on the top ambit looks like a three year old hacked at it with safety scissors.

Is this normal? I am just so bummed.

Trader & Shipping Support / eBay's Global Shipping Program
« on: February 01, 2013, 03:21:51 AM »
I was just looking over the TOS for this program, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. Can you tell me about that experience? I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to use. So far it seems like the only thing I get out of it is that I don't have to drive to the post office.

Tell me a bit about it?

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Re: Again trouble with DollyHair...
« on: January 27, 2013, 06:54:58 AM »
I have never ordered hair from DH or anywhere else before. I need some hair for several ponies, is it safe for me to order from Dolly Hair? I don't want to be scammed and this thread kinda worries me

You are probably safest ordering from her now, rather than later. Once this mess has had time to die down, she will probably revert to her old tendencies. At least, that seems to have been her pattern in the past.
