Pony Corral / The fashion style fakies have evolved

Different races! Different eye shapes (RD gets to share the FS eyes, and Rarity likewise shares with Twilight). More body variety, though honestly I preferred the walking pose. A little more eye color variation, though these have the looks of an intermediate form with those messed up highlights. And no evidence of cutie marks, but none of the photos show their other side, so...?

Pony Corral / Fresh Minty Adventure

I figure some of you might be interested in this. Fresh Minty Adventure is a browser-based platformer game where you play as Minty, on a mission to rescue... your socks. (It's a remake of Minty Fresh Adventure, which starred Colgate (not Minuette) and had a Minty cameo.) And apparently she's an animal trainer now because idk.

Pony Corral / Styling size Twilight Sparkle

You know the huge ponies that we're all waiting to see turn up, well, anywhere, with their improbably low prices?

Taobao thinks there's another one. Looks Rainbow Power-inspired with the yellow hair, but there aren't any body markings. I wouldn't have expected to like that star in her eye, but it actually works.

Pony Corral / Wave 11 Blind Bags Discussion
« on: February 18, 2014, 08:55:57 PM »
Update:
Wave 11 has been revealed! Skip forwards to this post for the full list and subsequent discussion. Thanks, Niksilp!

Old speculation follows:
Spoiler
Wave 9 is slowly finding its way into stores. We now have a complete list of Wave 10 ponies, which is to say, Strawberry Sunrise, Sunshower Raindrops, Rainbow Swoop, Diamond Mint, and twenty repeats, or nineteen depending on how you view Princess Twilight Sparkle. Though at least Rainbowshine hadn't been in circulation in a long time. BUT THE RIDE NEVER ENDS!

Here are the ones I remember seeing so far. Obviously it's quite likely that some, most, or even all of these figures are not going to be "blind bags" at all but will instead appear in the character pack things, and speculation about those is welcome as well! It looks like there are five different characters from Rarity Takes Manehattan, so that's suggestive, and I'd be astonished if Flash Sentry and Sunset Shimmer weren't bundled together somehow.

It may be worth noting that there were regular, opaque, non-glittery, non-Rainbow-Power versions of Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash at the fair too. We haven't seen Rainbow Dash released that way since wave 6, and while Pinkie appeared that way in wave 9, there weren't any other figures from wave 9 on display. So that might explain the opaque Emerald Ray, if that is him? On the other hand, RD could easily get bundled with the opaque Spitfire and Helia/Lightning Dust.

Pony Corral / Come bearing boring news... princesses in 2014
« on: February 03, 2014, 11:52:23 AM »
From the Equestria Daily, word from the international toy fair:
Quote
For those preferring the brushables, a new set of Magical Ponies will arrive in two waves this year. The first half will feature Princess Twilight and Princess Cadance with huge, sparkling soft wings and a beautiful mane, the second half will have all four princesses as snow globe-like, "Spakling Princesses“ through which you can see and enjoy the cutiemark-shaped snowflakes inside of them.
Maybe this lady?

Anyway, no mention of anything else with brushable anything, though there was apparently an NDA so there may have been other things not mentionable.

Trader & Shipping Support / Non-paying buyer brony_14
« on: January 04, 2014, 08:00:19 AM »
New eBay user brony_14 bought five ponies from me and never sent payment, never responded to my multiple messages, and never responded to the five NPB cases I opened. Judging by their feedback, I'm not the only person they've done this with, so I'd suggest blocking them and not taking the chance.

Pony Corral / Animal cutie marks
« on: December 30, 2013, 01:06:20 PM »
It just occurred to me that G4 has very, very few animal-themed cutie marks. There's Fluttershy, of course, and Flitter and Sea Swirl from the show, and Honeybuzz/Bumblesweet and Bitta Luck from the toys, and... that might be it. Then there are simply countless fruits and berries and stars and hearts and rainbows. What's wrong with animals? Or more importantly, is this a new thing for G4, or did previous generations have a similar animal deficiency in their symbols?

Pony Corral / UK Magazine Twilight on the way
« on: December 26, 2013, 07:22:33 AM »
Remember this mysterious Pinkie Pie toy? I just got a pair of 2.25" figures, Twilight and Pinkie, assuming they were from the Monopoly set, but no, the Pinkie is definitely the one from the magazine and the Twilight is definitely in the same style, so it looks like there's a Twilight on the way. (Or... already released? I don't live in the UK so I can't comment, but if so, nice going!)

And to be clear, no, they are different from the monopoly ponies:

Magazine Twilight has a more elaborately layered hairstyle in the top front, and on her display side, the part of her mane going down to her neck is split into more pieces and doesn't have the highlights curving forwards. The highlights on her tail are more purple-oriented. Likewise, magazine Pinkie's mane curves in more toward her right eye, and the two tail versions curl differently. Both the magazine figs look to have somewhat wider eyes than the Monopoly ones do, too, or at least eyes that are set farther forward.

Hanukkah's been over here for three and a half hours, but while it was still going on I pieced together one of those panels every day, and now they're all properly compiled together. Wishing you all a happy Winter Solstice and your accompanying celebration/s of choice.

Because I don't think there's been any thorough cataloging of these little darlings.

These are probably the most common... they're mostly on AliExpress, but occasionally you'll see them on Taobao or eBay. They're the only ones that seem to have cutie marks, and they come mostly in two molds, Rarity and Rainbow Dash. The colors vary a little more than in that photo... Rainbow Dash comes in four different colors that I've seen (pink, purple, aqua, white), and Rarity in three (pink, aqua, yellow). There's also an aqua Twilight that goes with these, a pink Pinkie Pie, and very occasional Applejack sightings. Their paint quality... varies.

This set only turned up the once that I remember, and it's pretty similar to the last. This time there are no cutie marks, the color palette is a little more varied, and there's Applejack.

These are the high end of fakies... they have a very wide color palette, a whole lot of different molds, and they're actually packaged! Kamisha found them in Poland, and they didn't turn up online for a long while after that. (Full disclosure, I now have quite a few extra figs in this style, though without the brilliant packaging, and am looking to sell them.)

The newest arrivals to the scene, and seemingly the only ones that use the official molds (logo and all) and paint (not glossy). Sold in multiples of seven. Apart from the lack of cutie marks (and the overly shiny plastic/paint), these are the closest to the real thing. If anything, some of them (pink+white Twilight, red+yellow Big Mac) are so close to real figures that they're less interesting than if they had more garish color schemes.

Same make as the previous set, but with the molds and colors redistributed. Only ever showed up once, which is weird, because look how cool that black Twilight is.

Pony Corral / Commissioning the chinese sellers
« on: November 16, 2013, 07:37:37 AM »
I'm not saying this would be a good idea, I just found myself wondering if anyone's actually tried it, and if so, what happened. With all the ponies and fakies that people buy directly from China, through eBay or Taobao or AliExpress or what have you, has anyone just asked one of the sellers "can you make me a pony with these colors and this pose and this symbol" or something like that? What did they say? Particularly some of the fakie makers seem like they could use better ideas for color combinations.

If I try to bid on or buy items from eBay user plaything-good, I get one of those errors. The same has been true historically of user magical-wealthy88 as well. I've messaged them, but neither seems to know why this might be the case, and the eBay Answer Center was totally unhelpful. Anyone here have any ideas? I'm in the US, which they say that they ship to...
