Since many of the recent Ponies of the Day have been G3 Winter Ponies, I thought it would be fun to stack 'em all against each other! Here's my personal ranking of the 18 G3 winter ponies, not including the babies or G3.5's.
Snowflake My favorite winter pony. She's a gorgeous shade of blue, with beautiful wintery hair colors that compliment each other perfectly. Her name and symbol are simple, but combine to create the perfect winter pony.
Mistletoe My favorite of the more explicitly Christmassy ponies. The walking pose is one of my favorite G3 poses because it's cute, chubby, and playful. Her red and white hair and ornament symbol give her a very festive feel, and I also love the bow with the Christmas light she comes with.
Marshmellow Coco This pony is just the epitome of coziness, with her cute symbol, deep brown eyes, and hat with fluffy pom poms. Her theme is unique amongst the G3 ponies, and she has a great wintery color scheme.
Velvet Bow Her pale blue/purple/almost gray coat makes her one-of-a-kind, and the outfit she comes with is very stylish. Her name and symbol are also very beautiful as well.
Snow’El 2007 She's the only non-earth pony of the winter series, so she stands out for that alone. I like her TAF design, and I feel like her name fits her better than the previous Snow'El, due to her snow angel symbol.
Chilly Breezes She's got a unique theme, cute outfit, and a color scheme that feels very cool and icy, but not at all Christmassy. She's a good pony to have around all winter long.
Candy Cane I love peppermint striped Christmas Decor, and she's as festive as can be, but I just don't like the donkey pose.
Snow’el 2004 She may be pink, but I do love her red and white peppermint hair.
Winter Minty 2008 She's a rerelease, yes, but a very unique one that stands out amongst other Mintys. She's also one of the rare non-core 7 characters released after 2008.
Winter Wish One of many all-pink winter ponies, but she has one of my favorite symbols, plus an adorable reindeer costume.
Toboggan She's the only winter pony currently in my collection, and she's pretty middle of the road. At this point, other ponies in this generation have done the snowflake theme better, and my thoughts on her pose have still not changed. I do like the blues and whites in her hair, though.
Mittens 2007 A superior Mittens to the 2003 version, but still pretty forgettable.
Sno Glo A very basic, and not very wintry color scheme. I do like her fur-trimmed hood though.
Mittens 2003 Her colors are boring, and her symbol does not fit her name at all.
Jolly Lolly Dumb name, boring color scheme, reused symbol. zzzz....
Winter Minty 2005 This is just the same as the original Minty release. She does have socks though, which is a bonus.
Winter Pinkie Pie 2008 It's yet another Pinkie Pie. At least she's in a slightly different pose than most of the Core 7 era Pinkies, and her cape is kinda cute.
Winter Rainbow Dash 2008 This is just every other Rainbow Dash released during this period, except with a scarf.
What are your rankings of the different winter G3's?

I was just listening to "Little Piece of Rainbow" from Rescue at Midnight Castle when I caught notice of the ending line,"The lesson for you all, when hope seems past recall, a piece of rainbow always can be found". I just found that a very beautifully inspirational line that also fits in perfectly with the ongoing events in the special. I also find Fluttershy's statement in Dragonshy, "You're not a bad dragon, you just made a bad decision" to be very powerful as well. On the more humorous side of things, I'll always remember Twilight's panicky lines from Return of Harmony like "Congratulations, Spike! You're the new Rainbow Dash!" and "This is my book! AND I'M GONNA READ IT!". I often find myself quoting variations of those from time to time in my daily life, actually. Are there any quotes from any generation of MLP animations, books, comics, even backcards that stick out to you, bring you joy, or just make you laugh?

What's your favorite pony species/race/breed and why? I'm team unicorn myself, they tend to have the prettiest color schemes and the most practical array of abilities.

I was admiring the G1 backcard art on the My Little Wiki the other day, and I noticed some of the backcards from years 7-9 have a cute little duck hanging out in the scene with the ponies! There are quite a few if you look, but these are my favorites: In a fancy little tux.. Tap dance and ballet ducks! As a royal attendant Little baby duck Lots of little ducks in this one: Prom king! Bonus frog: Anyway, this is g1 backcard duck appreciation threat because they're cute and I don't know if anyone else has noticed them!

I've officially given up on the draw a Pony-a-Day project I tried to do back in May, it's just been too hard after I realized the drawings were taking longer than I thought. That being said, I have been doodling some ponies over quarantine, so I thought I'd post them here, and add to it as I continue to draw ponies. Spoiler visitors can't see pics , please register or loginLast weekend, I drew Gusty, and decided to give her a forest-guardian style vibe. I'm really happy with how she turned out. Spoiler visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI doodled this Wind Whistler because I was bored, but I liked her stern and slightly concerned expression so much I decided to finish her. Spoiler visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAnother casual doodle I ended up really liking, here's a wild looking Firefly. Spoiler visitors can't see pics , please register or loginCotton Candy, snatching a snack! I gave her fetlocks and a blaze to spice up her simple design. Spoiler visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginGlory and Moondancer heads. I drew these back in March, but the Glory is one of my favorite pony drawings I've done.

I just came back from a vacation to Rehoboth Beach. There's this vintage toy shop there called Yesterday's Fun that had quite a selection of older ponies, so I brought some back to add to my slowly growing herd. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginFirst up, we have Steamer, my first boy pony! His hair is very faded, but I think he honestly looks better with the white hair. He has a small marking next to his symbol I couldn't get off, and a small regrind spot that's hidden behind his hind leg. Otherwise, he cleaned up very nicely! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThe second G1 I got was Parasol. When I got her, she was very filthy, but luckily all but a purple dot on her ear came off in the sink. Other then that, she's a very pretty pony! They also had a bin of G3's for 2-3 dollars, so I picked up a few as well. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI'm trying to re-obtain the G3's from childhood I gave away. I got this Fluttershy to replace my long-gone childhood one. Her hair was extremely tangled and wild, but once I gave it a good grooming, she looks perfect! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginHere's Sparkleworks. She had a few spots I was able to easily clean up. Her tinsel isn't perfect, but looks a lot better than I thought it would. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginWhistle Wishes had a bit more flaws I couldn't fix. There's some crayon marks on the non-display side of her neck, and her yellow streak is cut short. She's still a gorgeous unicorn though. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAnd then there's Sweetberry. The G3's at the store came sealed in little plastic baggies. I picked up Sweetberry because she looked spotless with relatively untangled hair from inside the bag. When I went to clean her up, it turned out she was the most problematic pony of the haul. Even after a good conditioning, her hair is very dry, rough, and frizzy, although it is still better than what it was before. She also appears to have a bit of tail rust. All in all, I'm very pleased with this haul, and am happy to add more G1s to my herd, since I only had Sparkler prior, as well as some cute G3s.

In light of the recent thread about pony names and their devolution over the years, especially in regards to G4, I figured we should give some respect to the G4 names we do like, from either the show, the toys, or both.
I think the three eldest princesses, Celestia, Luna, and Cadence, have really elegant names that suit their design and roles.
I also really like: Spitfire Coloratura Fleetfoot Sunburst Octavia Vapor Trail Angel Wings Autumn Blaze Noteworthy Roseluck Helia Sassaflash Starry Eyes White Lightning Star Hunter Minuette Golden Harvest Pepperdance Lovestruck Meadow Song Tropical Storm Neon Lights B Sharp I like the names Lyra and Heartstrings separatley, but I'm not a fan of Lyra Heartstrings together

Are there earth ponies you think should have been unicorns? Unicorns that should have been pegasi? Pegasi that should have been earth ponies? What are ponies that you think a change of race would suit best?
It kinda bothers me that starting in year 5 of G1, there are 6 pony sets with 1 unicorn, 1 pegasus, and 4 earth ponies. It should be 2-2-2! For example, with the sparkle ponies, I think Napper would be good as a unicorn, and Sky Rocket would be a cute pegasus. And for the wave 1 TAF's, Up Up & Away as a pegasus and Love Melody as a unicorn.
Also, the balance in G3 is way off. Starbeam has all the makings of a unicorn, and Waterfire would make a very striking pegasus.

Since I'm done with classes and have nothing better to do with my life, I decided I'd make a little watercolor illustration of a different G1 pony everyday, and post it! You can follow daily_dose_of_pony on Instagram and dailydoseofpony on Tumblr to keep up! I'm starting things off with everybody's favorite bubbleheaded unicorn, Fizzy! https://www.instagram.com/p/B_89BIinEKo/Feel free to suggest other ponies you'd like to see!

Following up on the G1 thread I created a while ago, who's your favorite G3 pony from every year (2003-2008), and why?
Mine are:
2003: Autumn Skye Autumn's my favorite season, and she captures its essence very well. Her grayish blue coat is very unique and blends well with her fall colored hair. Even her name is quite pretty.
2004: Desert Rose Even though white/pink was overused in this generation, Rose's faint colors are quite dainty and elegant. The glitter, her detailed rose symbol, and the way its green stem matches her eyes make her quite sophisticated looking.
2005: Love Wishes One of my favorite ponies in my childhood herd, her dark indigo and neon red color combo is stunning and unique.
2006: Pumpkin Tart Is there anything cuter than a pony dressed up like a cat?
2007: Aurora Mist Everything about this pony is just gorgeous. She's a pegasus with a cascading symbol AND a jewel, and she's a beautiful shade of periwinkle with pearly blue wings and lovely pastel hair. She looks just like a fresh ocean breeze.
2008: Sweetie Belle I'm not a fan of any of the Core 7, but Sweetie's my favorite due to being one of only 8 G3 unicorns, and being the only completely new character in the bunch (Even Starsong reuses Silver Glow's cutie mark).

Hello! I'm Mrs. Prospector! I'm a college student, and MLP's been a major part of most of my life! I collected G3's as a kid, and was really into FIM when it was airing. Now that the show's done, and MLP seems to be going in an...odd direction, I wanted to shift my obsession back to the earlier generations, which I love just as much. I don't have a huge collection yet, just a few assorted G4 things and some of my childhood G3's (I sadly gave most of mine away in my non-pony-obsessed period), but I'm starting to search antique and thrift shops for classic ponies! I love to write about and draw ponies, too, and am currently fantasizing about my ideal G5!
As for my name? When I was little, named my Lolligiggle that after hearing about a racehorse named Mr. Prospector. I thought the name was funny, and decided to call her Mrs. Prospector (I gave a lot of my ponies new, very unusual names. My Rainbow Dash was Charlie Horse, and my Triple Treat was Candy Larry!)
