Title: Show Me ....Mimic!

I had money for a pretty decent one but then life happened, so she'll have to wait to come home with me! >_< :blush: Anyone selling one, please feel free to PM me! I'm pretty particular on my ponies...so I'd be willing to buy a minty one up to $100-125 shipped (within US) - but no more..I even would consider a partial trade of some kind!

This is my Mimic. She was my first ever trade pony from America and she came from a very important trader who I have fond memories of going back a long time. I received her in November 1997, and so she's lived with me now almost 20 years. I traded Gypsy for her, because, back then, that was a pretty even trade.

She is in good shape but has ink on her hoof bases. I don't care, because no other Mimic is ever going to match her in my affection :) I since obtained her brush, ribbon and backcard too.

I have actually found Mimic at a car boot sale here before, which was weird. I don't know how she got here, but she cost £1. I don't know where she lives now though...I sold her on but can't remember where or who to...

Have you tried getting the ink out with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? I've taken ink, as well as permanent marker, off of ponies with it before. :) You may not want to touch her though, and that's understandable!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does this! I got a baby Tiddly Winks with a sloppy braid in her tail secured with a ribbon and I don't have the heart to change it! Some little girl say and learned to braid on that pony! It's precious!!

I tried taking the writing off of two of my childhood ponies (Masquerade and Locket).. but it wouldn't come off.. had a feeling it was meant to be.. so I didn't try any further.. ;) In fact, they are the only two that I wrote on.. LOL. As a kid, I remember doing it and I was like, uhhh, this ink won't come off, uh oh.. So I didn't write on anymore ponies after that. I've kicked myself many years over it, but just recently forgave myself.. :P :biggrin:

For the longest time, I thought Mimic had a white stripe in her hair.. haha, I didn't know it was supposed to be pink.. :blush: :P

The funny thing about my masquerade is that her owner must have got bored halfway because her braid isn't on all her tail.The beginning is braided but the end is free.I think things like that add personnality to these ponies.

Well about Mimic, for her fading hair i prefer the white stripe instead of pink, i don't know why.For me she looks much better with white, so many ponies have a pink stripe so it makes her even more special.

I wrote my name on my pony's hooves. It fit nicely, although most of them it's worn off now, which is a little sad. I had to because it was a condition of being allowed to take them to school. My sister did too, but her name didn't fit so well. Some of the ponies from my childhood friend also have her name on the hooves still. I like it :)

I tend to style pony hair, and take the styling out unless its factory, so I don't preserve things that way. But I like the idea they have stories they can't tell us (although Mimic sure looks like she wants to...)

I have actually found Mimic at a car boot sale here before, which was weird. I don't know how she got here, but she cost £1. I don't know where she lives now though...I sold her on but can't remember where or who to...

I've had several wistful dreams where this scenario has happened. :P

Though I think she may have been sold in some of Europe? The one Italian insert I have definitely has Mimic on it...

Thats my childhood Minic. I disliked her, a lot. Which means she not only survived my childhood customizing and haircuts but also survived pretty intact. Minor mane and tail cut and symbol is a bit faded on one side but shes much better off then my poor Magic Star (who went on many adventures including water, dirt, mud, grass, magic marker, fabric paint, and scissors). Mimic stayed home.

She did go to another pony collectors pony spa a few years back for some primping though!

The first I sold on ebay because I wasn't really into ponies at the time and needed some quick cash. The second I bought from ebay and she had a horn that had been sharpened with a pencil sharpener!!! :yikes: I was so upset as this was supposed to be a replacement for the first one I sold. I ended up selling her to a member of the pony arena.

The THIRD Mimic came to me in a HUGE lot of ponies from eBay so I wasn't expecting her to be in stellar shape with as many ponies that were in that listing (i think it was around 70?!!) However, when she arrived to me, I was overjoyed because she was almost in MINT condition!! Absolutely NO rubs to the iridescent gems of her eyes (which was unheard of to me with TEs!), only one minor symbol rub on NDS and absolutely no highlighter/ink/chew marks at all. It seemed that her tail had been given a slight trim but it doesn't look too bad. Her mane and tail were a bit wild and crazy at first so I intensively shampooed and conditioned her several times and this was the amazing result! :whoa:

This is the one Mimic that I've grown very attached to and I've had her around 7-8 years now. :lovey: I've decided after all the struggle I went through to obtain her and restore her that she's mine for keeps and never leaving my collection again! :happy:

She even still has the PINK stripe in her hair!! It's a very muted light pink but that still counts! I've shown it here so you can see it more clearly! :P

I never really understood the fascination with Mimic until I finally got to see her in person. She really is a stunningly unique pony. And an unicorn that's not pink or purple which makes her that much more special! :bigups:

She has been sitting in a sunny window for the past 3 months, I'm trying to get rid of bright red nail polish that has seeped into her plastic. So far so good as it is slowly fading but it's defiantly taking forever. >_<

Try rubbing alcohol on nail polish, I've had good results with it on that in hair! :)
You could also try a "magic eraser" ... but I would try one or the other, not both.. especially not right after each other.

That is amazing! They're all so...so green! I never realized how green they actually were sposed to be till recently.

As for your custom, I like her better in the Powder pose. Other then the outrageous asking price, her pose and the way she fades is what made me dislike her. If she were in the Powder pose and didn't fade I'd be lamenting that I didn't have one.

Much as I want to go into detail on how I obtained her I’ll spare the details…just because I know some folks would probably hate me, since it wasn’t ebay *lol* Regardless I wouldn’t have her had I not found her how I did and I feel EXTREMELY fortunate, because she is a real gorgeous gem.

Now that she’s out I probably won’t pack her up, unless we move again…in which case I’d make sure she gets unpacked right away!

Oh and really awesome custom, sunshine...normally not a fan of the g4's but I'd totally buy that one.
