Title: Favourite dinosaur?
Post by: Darker on January 01, 2015, 02:40:41 PM: I know here it's all about magical and mythical creatures and stuff. But dinosaurs are beyond cool when you compare them to dragons, chimeras, minotaurs, simply because, they were here before us came to take over this world.

They were the kings of animals, and ruled over everything with their humongous size. We all have favourites. We all like them, wether it's because of movies, books, or shows, or even memes.

If I had to choose three favourites they would be(carnivores, of course. I like Stegosaurus, but not that much):

The Carnotaurus. Imagine a T-Rex/Bull hybrid with even tinier arms but with a bulldog face.
Yeah... Pretty scary.

The Concavenator. Since I live in Spain, I obviously searched for some spanish dinosaurs, and Concavenator is easily my favourite. It used its hump to regulate the temperature of its body and absorb solar energy. Also, it had huge claws and a very powerful bite.

And my personal favourite, the Spinosaurus, the biggest carnivore that ever lived, weighing almost 20 tons and being almost 60 ft in length. Do I have to say anything else for this beast?

It's something about that magnificent skull, it's sheer size and two/four-legged gait along the image of a gentle giant that appeals to me. I like seeing it portrayed in herds whether in a splendour of colours or just subdued sails, imagining the sounds it must have produced!

I think for ones I'm scared of, it'd be one that lived under the sea, some of those were just immense... (Goes off to scare herself looking at pictures of dinosaurs)

Actually, dinosaurs were just terrestrial, any marine or flying reptiles such as Mosasaurs or Pterodactyls were not dinosaurs. ;)

My favorite Herbivore is Corythosaurus, I dunno why but I've always loved them

Other favorites Ancient Beasts: Ichthyosaur, Parasaurolophus, Pterodactyl, Ankylosaurus, Styracosaurus, Dimetrodon, Velociraptor, Deinonychus, Troodon, Leiopluradon, Megalodon Shark, Dunkleosteus, Triceratops, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Stegasaurus, Koolasuchus, Dilophosaurus, Protoceratops

The Queensland Museum has a skeleton on display, which I loved seeing as a kid.

It turned into more of a hobby than a career and m going to Quad C for vet-tech. I am a member of the Fossil Form too! Anyways, I LOVE prehistoric life!!!!As strange as this sounds being a vegetarian myself, the ancient scaley carnivores steal my heart! I am OBSESSED with the spinosaurids- Spinosaurus, Baryonyx, and Suchomimus (drroly drooly droool..... my favorite!!!) Their fossils are found in Eygpt, id LOVE a fossil of one buuut all the real ones I see are usually out of my budget and theres definitly fakes or plastic molds of them sold online.

Now as far as other prehistoric marine bad boys that are obviously not dinosaurs, i am SUPER OBSESSED with Cretaceous life- ammonites, ancient sharks like ptychodus, and mosasaurs!!! Tylosaurus is my FAVORITE prehistoric beastie. I live near Tyler county where their jaws and teeth are found in creeks!!! :D I have founds tons of shark teeth, but never any mossie teeth. I neeeeeeeeed to visit the North Sulfer river!!! My FF shirt even has a mosasaur on it

Well, I made this thread so I obviously have to check out people¡s opinions, and as far as yours is, Spinosaurids can be really cute, even if they look like your everyday Primeval beast.

No, it doesn't. They gave it a new head. I liked the old head better, whether it belonged to it or not. He was cuter that way.

Post by: Wind_Whistler on January 05, 2015, 09:18:57 AM: Huge dinosaur fan over here, and apart from all of the famous Jurassic Park dinos, Allosaurus has always been a favourite of mine because even though he was around in the Jurassic Period, if I was to compare him to T-Rex he was a more effective killing machine (what with a decent arm length) perhaps not as stong a jaw but still very powerful. Never really thought much of Spinosaurus..people forget that he was mainly a fish eater and not that bad ass at all really lol

Edit: I should also mention the sauropodsn the family apatosaurus is from. These guys were HUGE! Apatosaurus was actually one of the smaller ones, aside from its weight. The fact that creatures this size even existed fills me with awe. It boggles the brain to even imagind the scale of these guys!

haha he's just ok, don't really like his face though, T-Rex should have destroyed him in he JP3 battle!

Yep! Technically many modern birds can be considered dinosaurs due to some characteristics that are present.

So dinosaurs are still around. They just became a lot smaller and feathery. :p

Im ganna say Herbivore, I pretty much love anything thats got any type of bony/plate spikey natural armor and/or frills. those usually seem to be herbivore.

But my favourites are the ones that can be vicious but also cute and fluffy. Love them fluffy raptors!
