Just  haaaad to be pinkie. Is she giant or fashion sized?

I'm slightly concerned about the fact she's 'chinese' and that she has squinty eyes :/.

I also think she's really ugly. Doesn't look like there is enough hair for her face, the smile is creepy and the eyes look bizzare on her.

I think she's just smiling so much her eyes are closing.  They used the same eyes on her giant electronic model too.

Cute design, but not $25 cute.

Ok, maybe it's just me hating on the whole pink pony/red outfit deal, but I don't even like the box >_< There is absolutely nothing that about this that makes me want to rush out and order it. Which makes me sad because I love ponies, but my wallet will be happy :P

Ahh, just had to be Pinkie... Well, $25 saved is $25 earned!

(And I have to agree on the squinty eyes... especially without eyelashes, she looks a little... questionable.)

She's still got that gold + silver thing going on... I'd appreciate her much more if it was just one of them, hopefully gold.

I look at this and think: Oh yeah? Hasbro, remember when you said you couldn't and wouldn't do art style ponies again? How that was not a thing anymore and we could not expect them ever in g4 molds? And that's why we got background characters as fair exclusives rather than pretty, elaborate, unique ponies? *grumbles*

I'm not sure if she is a must-have, especially for the price, but I think this is a really pretty girl. It would have been cool if it had been Applejack or Rainbow Dash though. I like the patterns on her dress and eye. I like the eyes, they remind me of the blind bag Apple Fritter. I think this is a better idea than a Valentine's Day pony.

As expected! Ahhh they could have done so much more... I'll have to get her because, well, I spent so much time in CHina and mlp collecting is like my favorite thing it's like... kinda have to have her haha. But she's not very pretty. :/ I'm glad they added silver to her hooves though, it does look at BIT better... :<

Title: Re: through the mirror pinkie pie is actually....
Post by: Draikinator on October 17, 2013, 04:54:13 AM
Well we have easter fluttershy and valentines day pinkie haha so...
ahhh the chinese on her box is so... ugly, too. What's with the arial round looking characters? The patterns aren't chinese looking at all. The art on the back is really pretty and it's nice to see something not just the pony standing there looking flat ahead but... eugh. colour choices. I already own like 6 g4 pinkie pies, whyyy.
I would have loved a hasbrOC for chinese new year. Could have been a bright red body with gold hair- maybe a chinese dragon on her rump? ahhh. That would have been so beautiful.

I always debox my G4s but I think I'll leave her in the box...

Speaking as these forums' probable main agitator about thread redundancy, I think this is fine. :) There's a lot of new information here, whereas the last one was pretty much nothing but speculation about what this one simply confirms. EDIT: Ooooh, that other thread. Oh well.

Anyhow, I think she looks prettier with the packaging than without! Anyone read Chinese? I'm eager to know just how badly the title got translated.

She is kind of gorgeous.  I didn't want to get her when I first saw her because of her size, but she is SO pretty!

I love her and I love her box.  The box is VERY Chinese new year.  So is the gold scrolling pattern-work.  I love her!  She reminds me of lucky cats.

Also, those round characters are in Chinese lanterns.

And I think the flowers are supposed to be Chrysanthemums?

I love her. I'm not Chinese, but I've lived and studied in China and other parts of Asia, so she is a must have--if only for the novelty of a culture crossover. I can see why other people might not be so into her, though.

If anyone was wondering, the characters in the lantern are "马到成功" or "ma dao cheng gong" which translates to something like "gain an immediate victory/success".

Correct me if I got it wrong.  :)

I love Pinkie Pie, and I know most people are tired of her but eh I'm glad it's her! Though Twilight Sparkle would seem more into celebrating something like this. Then again if there's a party...

No, that's spot on. I would've translated cheng to achievement, though. I used to work at a Chinese school called Da Cheng (big achievement) education center haha. But you know. It can go a couple different ways.

I only like her in box. XD Probably because the nice box distracts me from her lack of eyebrows and wierd eyes.
Most of all i wish they had created a new character instead of painting a "dress" on yet another Pinkie.

I like the concept...I think its a cute idea but having seen the Taobao version I had hoped she would be released with something a little extra [perhaps clothes/accessories] to finish off the appearance. I also like that Hasbro are trying to give us "specials". However, I would have preferred they had given us a unique pony as the release and like NoD mentioned earlier if they can go to this effort for a $25 store pony...they really couldnt have tried something as fancy for a special Fair release?

I love her! 2014 is year of the horse, so that might be why there's a Chinese Pinkie :D

Also, I think her eyelashes are supposed to be the silvery decorations on her eyes. Fancy eyelashes?

She's cute, if a little unfinished and uninspired, but if I see another stand alone Pinkie Pie variation I may just vomit streamers.
Yes Hasbro, we understand. Pink. Little girls. Now go sit in the corner and think about what you've done.

for that price, id have wanted her to actually be wearing a pretty outfit instead of having it painted right on her. but given the reputation of G4 outfits im not sure it would actually be pretty. :/ not to mention it is yet another pinkie pie. I got tired of her during G3. The only thing I like about this product is the box lol

Come on Hasbro, that was a really cool idea, try again!

The Pinkie on the back of the box is cute. That's really the only thing I like about this. They don't even tell you what the Chinese characters say...weird. I would have preferred a Halloween pony myself. =P

I only collect G1 and know next to nothing about G4. Perhaps that's what has prevented me from getting sick of Pinkie variants, but I actually do not dislike this one. Now just give me a Playful Pony -sized one.

Honestly, I think its the combination of pink and red that is making me crazy  I would've loved to have seen RD done up in these colours, I feel as though it would've looked better, at least to me :P

I do agree with other international members, it would be nice if MLP items such as these were released in other countries besides the US

I just checked the TRU Canada website and the newest MLP items that are being offered are the masquerade mask G4, which is pretty sad :(

I'm also in the boat -- I'd love it if it was anyone but Pinkie.

I'm starting to like Pinkie as a character, but I really have no place for pink ponies in my home. I just don't like pink... The only exception to this IS Pinkie Pie, because I wanted full mane 6. And a childhood G1... Oh, and a nirvana. Only 3 XD no room for any more.

My roommate tells me the back of the box says "luck" with Pinkie Pie serving as the first part of the character. The front says literally "horse arrives successfully," which apparently is appropriate for this occassion.

She also says Rarity would not be a better choice for Chinese New Year because she's white, and white is a funeral color. Also, she thinks they now need to make a boy pony in a light and dark blue traditional men's outfit to go along with Pinkie in her Chinese dress.

Title: Re: Chinese Pinkie Pie!!
Post by: Foxtale on October 20, 2013, 01:53:00 PM
I'm all for special and holiday releases but this Pinkie Pie is freaky looking. It might just be the lack of eyelashes but I just do not like the face at all. I love the box art, the details and design on the pony but I think the pose or the face or something is off. I won't pass final judgement until I see her in person, but this mold treated like this doesn't work.. Now if this was done to on of the Clone/Collector Pose g3 it might work better but I'm biased (has nothing to do with G4, I love G4, I think its the chunky childness of the body and head with an elegant design that gets me).

That all said... I will still probably buy her. :P

I don't love the pony itself but as a MIB person, I like the whole... thing. Her in the box. Darn it for being so expensive or else I'd want it. I don't love the cheap looking comb though. I agree that a real outfit would've been much nicer but, I still like the design personally. It's something a bit different than I expected to see?

I think I would have much preferred her with the gold/silver art design all over her body and a wearable red kimono, all this painted on clothing just isn't working for me.
Also, I have enough Pinkie Pies! Maybe an original character would have been a better choice, something a little more creative? Do away with the pink and make it an all red pony with beautiful gold designs, that I would buy! ^.^

I see a lot of people are saying "I wish they would have used a new character" and I agree, but realistically speaking, Hasbro is known for mostly ding Main cast for these sizes (FS to Giant) with the exception of certain characters like DJ and Muffins.

So I don't hold my breath with what they release :P

She's nice, but even if she were released in the UK, I wouldn't be purchasing her solely because I'm just so tired of Pinkie.

Thats cool but why not invent a special pony just for the chinese new year instead of using a pinkie pie??

That would have been fabulous-  but I'm sure they figured Pinkie would sell better than a new, untested characters.  Profit margins for toys are so slender these days that they probably are loath to take a risk on a new character (ie Wysteria).  Speaking of- I do wonder how well Wysteria is selling...

I agree that I wish they had made a new (golden!) pony character for this.  I'm not a huge fan of pink and red together.  I might get her, I might not.  I don't know if I can overcome the lack of eyelashes.  I think that's what bothers me the most about her!

Too bad they couldn't put red in the hair, it would have looked better IMO if they had made the hair red or at least given her some red in it to complement the outfit/red painted body suit.

Totally agree with you.
I love the box, it looks awesome. Actually the box is the best part about it. The dress is also great. But considering the pony as a whole I feel like something is missing to make be combo perfect.
Yet, it is a neat idea, I hope I can grab one of her. It would be nice to see Rarity in a blue/purple dress, or even Red.

I'm getting her not because she's PP and not because she's g4 - but because she's a chinese new year pony (DH is chinese ) and she's for the year of the horse (my zodiac/year).

Question, it says she's 8". Obviously bigger than the g4 ponies. Is this the same size as the fashion style g4s?

I wouldnt be surprised if she stays an online offer - a lot of retailers do that with items which perhaps dont fit their normal store demographic but which they know will sell well.

I think the 8inch covers the box though. It looks as though its an exclusive/art box so that should make her normal fashion size...I think! Maybe :P

I agree she looks like she is going to be bigger than the FS pony-  the FS pony is 16cm and she is 22cm

I got one of those 22cm plain Pinkies form Taobao- and she is pretty big.  I am thinking this one uses the same mold (even the eyes are the same).  That would explain the higher price too.

Happily- it does appear that the Chinese New Year Pinkie will have longer hair than the other giant Pinkie... (her mane and tail was the same length as a FS- although this may have just been true for the one I got since Taobao has a lot of test runs and QC fails)

I agree from the Taobao picture she looks like she is FS size. However, her box measures 10inch x 10inch x 4inch - thats the size of the normal art pony boxes, or the box which Drama Pony was released in. Which kind of suggests Fashion Style rather than Styling Size.

Perhaps the ones on Taobao are Styling Size but her actual release will be Fashion Size? I have a Styling Size version of the 2011 Comic Con pony - there are only 4 of her in existence - so its possible that she was initially made larger before they settled on a smaller release size or she was made larger during design stages. It has happened before :)

Fashion style ponies are about 6", so at 8", she should be a bit bigger than they are. Her hair looks nice and long, at least!

The outfit's colors clash badly with everyone except Applejack who wouldn't be interested in wearing the outfit anyway. Imagining Rarity's purple hair against the red outfit makes me think not only do they clash but they also make me think of guts and blood.

It doesn't say online only, just exclusive to TRU. And, TRU seems to be bad with their pre-orders from what I remember reading.

:) My husband, who is not a big pony fan-- nor a big Pinkie Pie fan-- really seems to want her for our family. I just am hesitant to do the pre-order thing if it's something I can just pick up in the store.

I could be wrong. I could be completely misreading it. Maybe its just a general description of why you would need store pick up? I would actually have thought they would have made the "online exclusive" larger if that was really the case.

I just dont want it to be true and people be waiting for her to hit shelves and then she never turns up.

Here is a comparison picture showing the little/playful size ponies, the Fashion Style size (Fluttershy) and the 22cm size.  Looks like Chinese New Year Pinkie will be 22cm- which is quite a lot larger than the FS ponies.  That probably explains the higher price point.

Yeah- they are really big!  I think that the plain version of the Chinese Pinkie will make great custom fodder :D

(Also Fluttershy - she is not unique- the seller had 6 listed and I got 2 of them.
Rarity is very weird looking indeed.  I hope the official release isn't so bizarre. Her eyes are too far back on her head... I keep looking at her and can't figure why they did it that way. I REALLY hope it is just a QC reject- but the Taobao picture shows a similar "special" looking Rarity so I won't count on it.  May need to get Hannaliten to paint some new eyes for me...)

Rarity definitely has something weird about her- but I think it is just that they painted her eyes on too far back.

Fluttershy and Pinkie are actually quite cute- they look the same as FS except bigger, and Fluttershy's wings are more detailed.

Got my Chinese New Year Pinkie today!  she is certainly bigger than the fashion styles! check out small pinkie at the right corner of the box! she was released today together with a MLP live show at one of our local shopping malls. she has tinselled hair and not much hair, but i do like her painted outfit. quite pretty. had to go through quite a few though as there were paint smudges at the hem of her outfit (i tend to be picky :P) ooh, want so much to open the box and take her out, but i think i should keep her MIB! have included pictures at the side of her box, i wonder why they chose to put periwinkle as one of the ponies in the pictures...

Ooooh! thanks for posting! I can't wait to get mine- I sure hope that the paint isn't smudged!!!  Now I wish I'd pre-ordered more than one...

I bet they put Periwinkle in there instead of Dash because the graphic looks SO similar (hair) to Dash- they probably made a mistake with the symbol (Periwinkle doesn't have wings after all)

Thanks for posting the details about the hair.  I was wondering about that-  the other big ponies (Dash, Fluttershy and regular Pinkie) also have somewhat skimpy hair.  Not thin like the fakies, but I'd say they have just slightly more mane/tail (possibly the same) as a regular fashion style.  So it looks very minimal on a much larger pony.

Still, I'd be all over this if it was a new character. I just can't bring myself to purposely buy another Pinkie Pie, no matter how fancy.

Dash is on the box as well though...Periwinkle sure is an odd choice as a character filler though. Other than her blind bag card, I would be surprised there was art of her in standard packaging.

Hmm-  and I didn't notice but the Periwinkle symbol is also in the entire design (not just her hips) - maybe they told the artist we want these 7 on the package and you can fill in the rest with whoever...

The art is pretty cute...

Toys R Us sent me an order confirmation and then a few hours later, they sent me a cancellation message. They said they failed to fill the order in a timely manner and are now attempting to cancel my order, according to regulations of the FTC. If they are successful, I'll get a cancellation confirmation. If not, I'll get a shipping confirmation.

What does this mean? They haven't oversold her, have they?

Call them. Unfortunately anything else is pretty much speculation.

Was there a date on the item during pre order. I am assuming your FTC has similar guidelines as we do. Basically if there is an unexpected delay on an item, the company is legally required to seek permission from those who have pre ordered to accept the delay. For some companies, in cases where there are massive quantities of pre orders, it is in fact easier to simply refund every order and ask people to reorder when there is a new delivery date. The process of checking with everyone and then refunding some and not refunding others and then having some people potentially claim they were not well informed either way is inefficient in man hours and $$. I would "guess" there has been a delay in having enough of her to fulfil pre orders - boat late from China :P or something more complicated perhaps. I would call them and ask if it is something as simple as that. Although be prepared for customer services to perhaps not know if and when she will be relisted.

Thank you! This is fantastic information. They told me that they had, in fact, shipped her.  They gave me a tracking number and everything. So I suppose my panic was unjustified. Oh I am so excited though that she shipped. I thought it would be January before I would even get charged and here I will have her within a week!

Has anyone else had shipping confirmation on theirs?

I just realised that they are offering international shipping? Through I-Parcel, never heard of it
I don't think I want her enough to pay almost $60 though

TRU international shipping is quite good because normally your shipping will factor in customs fees so you wont be hit with them. However, the total cost of shipping is normally enough to make you fall off your chair.

Wow, I had no idea she was so huge!

Just picked her up at my local Toys R Us, this surprised me too!  She is a lot bigger than a fashion style.  I really like her and the box art is beautiful!
