My Costco just got in this set:

I dont mind getting this set for fellow members so if anyone wants me to grab this set for them PM me and we can work something out. It's 29.99 (with our tax comes to $33.89). Just a side note though I will debox for shipping. It's a very huge box and shipping would be crazy expensive plus finding a box to fit it would be really hard :lol:
Also I only need Princess Celestia and Fluttershy so I'll be parting out mine. Minty and Nightmare Moon will be auctioned here and the other for sale. I'll post everything tonight on my sales page :)

Oh! You don't need a membership, according to the Costco site! They just charge 5% extra at checkout!

I was all excited when I noticed you were in Canada. But, I wonder what the chances are that these will come in and hang around for a bit locally. They don't have a lot of Brony-drawing characters so it will be the kids/kids' parents and general adult collectors who buy them, which could work in my favor for a sale later.

Not sure how long these will hang around...all I know is that one out of the 2 Costcos in my city have a bunch. The other location didn't have any at all.

I'll have to wait until almost next month to get some fun money, so I suppose that gives me a chance to think it over and weigh gambling on it showing up in regular retailers. I do want it though. Augh. Decisions are hard.

Yes they check your card and when you pay you have to give it to them and they make sure it's you. You'll probably have to take her with you.

Interesting that so far she is only turning up in Canada and at Costco - although its certainly more than possible that they just have their stock in much earlier than other locations.

We dont know yet if it wont get a European release. Lots of the larger sets - which are not part of the core line - do eventually make it to other countries. Its just that they take their time and there is no guarantee if and when it will happen.

I'm super glad my mom let me take over her Cosco membership. I needed a Cosco card to get a discount at a hotel I was just staying at, so perfect timing!!

I'll be adding Costco to the list of places to check for ponies when I'm out and about. I'm already hunting all the time at several Walmarts and Targets and two Toys R Us stores!

So it's definitely hitting Western Canada too now. I wouldn't worry too much about it selling out immediately as they had an enormous stack, like in Lady Starflower's first pic. (I called first to ask if they had it and they said there were 120 of them!)
(BTW, I saw a few Mintys with very goofy eye wonk, so it's probably worth taking an extra minute to look through sets for a good one ^.^)

i just emailed my costco, and no go on the minty set, but they did say this:
We currently are not stocking any My Little Pony sets, however we are expecting a My Little Pony Collection: Midnight In Canterlot.
There is no picture on our system for it, so I do not know what it looks like. The item number for ours is 999897.
This item should be in our store by mid-October, so please contact us after mid-October to see if we have it in stock yet.

That should indeed be the set we're talking about with Minty--it says "Midnight in Canterlot Pony Collection" on the box. :) Sounds like you guys south of the border will be seeing it soon, just under a different item number than us Canucks. Yay!

I had a membership there but I never bought much from there so i didn't renew it. I can get in the store but I don't know if I'd be able to buy anything. Has anyone ever bought anything from Costco and NOT been a member? Do they really allow that? I'd hate to go up there with a giant pony set and then be turned away Bc of no memebership.. That'd be so embarrassing lol..

Yupp that's the way it is here in Canada too. You have to have a membership or be with someone that has one and you have to show it at the door and when you checkout.

That's what I kind of thought, especially since there are way more Sam's around here than Costco (a few miles away instead of 4 hours+!). Haven't been around to check though.

I just called my Costco. You can't even buy a cash card (gift card) for someone without a membership! I absolutely hate members-only stores like this. It's like offering someone your money and them saying, "No, thanks." Okay...?!?
Does anyone have a solution to this or a get-around? I don't know a single member and I am not interested in becoming one...

I'm a member and I've been getting sets for members on here that don't have a Costco or aren't members. PM me if you'd like me to get one for you. They are $33.89 (that's including tax here) then shipping to where you are. The only thing is I won't ship them MIB since the box is giant so if you don't mind them loose :)

However, I would like to point out that exclusives almost always have some sort of label on them that says "(INSERT STORE NAME) EXCLUSIVE" and this set doesn't have anything like that on it. We can hold out hope that we will see this set in another store. Besides, I still haven't seen the bakery set released around me and that is a general release.
Also, I went to Sams this weekend and they do not have them. If I see one more stupid LalaLoopsy, I may scream. The closest thing they had to ponies were the Barbie little sisters and their horses.

Costco had G3 exclusives in the past so I agree its possible. And none of the G3 packs had stickers that I can remember either now I come to think of it.

Honestly the "art" is really pathetic on the box. Celestia doesn't even have a tail! The other pics are the same old same old and Minty is just Applejack right down to the freckles and hair style!! Pretty sad if you ask me.

I don't care so much about the box itself as I do deboxing the ponies myself, call me crazy, but I live deboxing G4s. Perhaps my favorite part about them.
And then I keep the box. That pile will take over my room some day.

So has this set been found in the US yet, or has it just been in Canada? I'm still trying to decide if I'd just be better off buying Minty on eBay or just waiting and hoping they come to another store in the US soon.

It just sucks to make exclusives for stores that need a MEMBERSHIP.

I found a friend who has a Costco card and we went to the store close by my place and there was no set yet
I went to the service desk and showed the number on the pics here from the store in California and they show the product on their system but no activity on stock coming or anything ,the nice lady at the desk said to check in another month or so .
It was a cool thing for me to find a friend who had the card , I was having lunch with 2 friends and it just came to mind to ask both of them about having a card to that store, and he was about to go there after our lunch , so I tagged along .
my friend said ,we can go back whenever I need to get something from there, so it was a pretty cool deal to ask

Yup! It's pretty subtle, took me a while to see, but the difference is there. I quite like how it looks on RD especially... so now does my old tinsel-Dash or this new Dash get to stay in my collection? Oh the dilemma. :P

I checked the few area Costco's and no luck. >.< I also checked BJ's for the set just in case its just a bulk store exclusive but they didn't have any large pony sets out.

I just went ahead and bought Minty loose from eBay. I figured since I can't get the set myself since there's no Costco nearby and I don't want to pay a ton for shipping or have to worry about selling the other ponies off it's for the best. I got her for $18 shipped, so not bad at all.

Honestly if Minty is the only one you want then I'd say buy her off eBay or Taobao. But if you're like me and a few other collectors that like getting ponies with variations (like Celestia with good tinsel, Fluttershy's new eye shape and Dewdrop Dazzle with different eye colour/shading) then I'd say go for the set.

i just emailed my costco, and no go on the minty set, but they did say this:
We currently are not stocking any My Little Pony sets, however we are expecting a My Little Pony Collection: Midnight In Canterlot.
There is no picture on our system for it, so I do not know what it looks like. The item number for ours is 999897.
This item should be in our store by mid-October, so please contact us after mid-October to see if we have it in stock yet.

Not really. I've been weighing this option myself. Minty runs $20+ and Dewdrop Dazzle about $10. So, even if you get them on the low side, it's the same amount but you're getting a lot less. It just doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd rather have the whole set and unload the extras I don't want. Make a little of the money back.

So I will be happy to buy at cost for anyone that wants 'em = if you are local I will be more than happy to hold until the PA/MD/VA meets come around or we do a mini meet up maybe Baltimore or DC/NoVA depending on any responses :-)

They are $29 plus MD tax totals to $31 and then lemme know if you want them shipped loose or in the box. I am also fine to buy for international and will be happy to offer to buy also if I can do a comparable trade for international folks - there's always nirvana I don't have ;)
oh and I may consider being able to split up - anyone know if they can do a run down on reasonable prices for the individuals? I'd hate to be stuck with too many g4 new "baits" but thinking there may be takers for those if at least minty, fluttershy and the princesses are worth something as individuals

The value of the set is mainly Minty but also NMM tends to run the $15 mark when sold singly. So between NMM, Minty at the $15-16 mark, Dewdrop @ $10, Celestia @ $5 and the others at $3-4 [more bait value than release value] you should make your money back. However, as more and more sets are broken up on ebay for sale, the price of everything is just going to continue to drop.

There is a whole skid of them left at my Costco in Northern CA. I bought one for my son and one as a birthday present for a friends little girl. The minty in the pack is with the new head molds, whereas the minty I got from eBay seller has the old style head without the mold line marks. I prefer the old head style.

The set made it to Texas finally , I was at the Costco by my place and the Set has arrived, but I do not have a card, so i was not able to get it today :(, but I have a couple of friends who do, I made plans with one of my friends to go to the store tomorrow afternoon :)
