No!! Haha these are the new Funkos for Hot Topic Lyra and Pinkie Pie, with the Sparkly variant versions as well! First images of them just came out about a half hour ago, besides the prototype pictures.

No, those are the funko vinyls, with those particular models previously seen only as prototypes. Looks like they're committed to translucent alternates for every single one.

Yes they said they will have those every time as well as possibly other variations as well like the red or green tie Dr. Whooves. Or later on a unicorn Twilight or alicorn Twilight.

Cool, hope I DON'T end up with sparkly ones, not my thing. And is it just me, or are most funko ponies with their cutie marks on the right sides aside from Fluttershy? Or am I remembering wrong? That;s my only issue with them, only cutie marks on one flank, and also on the seemingy non-display side too, at least in the case of Dash and whatever you wanna call the grey one.

Oohhh nice! I will be stalking the HT site on Friday then. Shipping to the UK is so high that I have to bulk-order Funkos for myself/friends. I've only had ONE sparkly Funko (Fluttershy) and I kid thee not, I've ordered about 45 of them since the Flutter/Whooves release.

From the prototype images we saw BonBon, DJ Pon-3, and possibly Octavia look to be designed to have their cutie marks on the other side. Of course, we probably won't know for sure for awhile, but that's the way it looks to me. It would be nice if they didn't cheap out and just put them on both sides the way they're supposed to be, but what's ya gonna do? >_<

The sparkly versions are the "chase" variants- that just means that only one in 24 will be sparkly and clear. You can get them by calling every hot topic or seller of Funkos, or visiting them all- until you finally find one- or caving and buying one on ebay if you can find one. It's a real pain in the rear actually... but I guess it makes the "chase" more fun.

They are super cute, but I'm trying to focus on G1. G4s won't fit on my shelves if I aquire too many. I'm really into the plushes though! Lyra will sell with the "Bronies". She's a real cutie. I like the sparkley ones. I like all things that sparkle.

I could be wrong but my understanding is that hot topic has the timed exclusive with all the pony releases. So these should be the same. So popcultcha should be getting these a few months after hot topic. But I don't know if the dated release applies to over seas.

I can't speak for Brony Galore but I know that some of the chase figures have shown up at gemini and they are in not linked to hot topic.
If you look on amazon there are 2 listings for fluttershy. One is hot topic as seller on amazon and the other is amazon itself. So I don't believe the chase figures are exclusive to hot topic.

I agree with Kitzka and will2befree, the chases are not HT exclusives. These ponies are sold wholesale n packs of 24 - with the green tie/red tie split and then 1 transparent for the other 23 opaque. So whether it be HT, Barns & Noble or a Comic Books Store they are delivered to, 1 in every 24 will be the transparent. So it depends on how many a store stocks as to the chances of their being a chase.
Hot Topic may well have claimed they were exclusive to them but then again HT were also claiming a while ago that the line was exclusive to them. Whereas this is not been the case its just that they have a timed exclusivity. They want you to buy from them and not wait and buy elsewhere of course.

They tend to sell out pretty fast. I'm willing to bet that Lyra sells out first over Pinkie Pie.

I got my two today in the mail, non-glitter, yay, but for some reason, the vinyl finish on them feels less smooth than the second set with Fluttershy and whooves, kinda like a mix of the first release dash and :muffin: Pony and the second set of ponies, very odd, and mine have several minor factory blemishes, glue spots, paint errors, and bumps. Very...Strange in the lapse of quality. Maybe they're focusing too much on GLITTER SPARKLE PONIES SO RARE BUY 15 NOW! To pay full attention.
Oh well, maybe I just got unlucky in my set. Anyone else notice this? My Pinkie has minor head/body mismatch too.

I got my shipping notification Thursday- so I really hope they come today. I ordered a bunch of Lyras and three Pinkies so hopefully I will get at least one glittery one... the clear ones are so cute and it seems like lots of people are finding them.

That's very odd, the last set was so high quality, it's a bit disappointing. Also unrelated, but the lines on Lyra's horn are not an actual spiral, but two kinda lopsided rings. A bit weird.

Yep! I was also surprised at the quality control going back downhill. As far as quality goes, I like the last set the best so far.

The quality of the sparkly SDCC exclusives was pretty disappointing as well. One of my RD's had a wicked scuff all up her display leg and into her cutie mark. Was gonna return it to Amazon, but I found someone who wanted to give her a home.

I got mine in the mail, no glitters... hey does anyone else think that they feel different from the Fluttershy/Dr Whooves wave? These new one kind of feel like the RD and Bubbles first release. Sadly my Lyra's eye paint is scaped! T_T I love her but oh my gosh was I sad when I saw that.

Mine arrived yesterday & yes, there does seem to be something up with the plastic/molding. My Pinkie has a couple of areas on her body that look like 'mold stick', where the material sticks to the mold when the piece is released. Rough and slightly wrinkly, almost like it was sanded. I haven't taken Lyra out of the box yet, I'm still disappointed she's glittery. Pinkie is freakin' adorable though, I can't stand it!

This set, has to be the worst with flaws. My poor lyra is just so so needy?
Eyes don't match, white paint job in the hair is horrid. Paint glob on tail, the tail has way too many issues. Plastic to me is different from the previous sets as well.

Definitely need some clean-up. They seem to have the most trouble with multi-colored manes and tails (Dash is a mess too). All of the ponies have those odd rough fill bumps. Has anyone had any luck sanding them down?
Still- I do LOVE the mold (all fo the molds) and think it's absolutely fantastic they are coming out with completely different molds for each character rather than re-paints- having some fun customizing these guys :D

I'll trade you my normal Lyra for your glittery one if you want?
The only flaw with my Lyra is that the eye on the display side looks as though it was hand painted on and done so with a sort of shaky hand. The other side is fine, but it is just that one side. My Pinkie Pie has baaaad plastic scuffing and even had a few dirt marks on her tail that I, thankfully, removed with a bit of water. She does of some discoloration in that plastic, like there are tiny spots of blue, but nothing too major I just wish those could come out too.

With so many flaws, I think I'm glad I waited this time. :( What's up with Funko's quality? I don't remember there being so many problems with the second wave of RD and Bubbles, or with Fluttershy and Dr. Whooves? :huh:

The level of flaws seem to be really disappointing for Funko - unlike the Hasbro released toys these are techincally collectibles and priced/pitched as such. I hope Funko get the feedback in order to ensure the same does not occur with future batchs or waves.

I was never concerned with getting the chase figures, or the Funkos really (waiting for Rarity and AJ), but that clear Lyra is gorgeous. I might have to shell out for her.

Got mine today, and I am so disappointed in the quality. Dashie and Bubbles' quality was bad, especially on the display sides...but Fluttershy and Dr. Hooves were fine. THESE are terrible. They have like...wrinkles on their display side faces. I mean, really? Couldn't that be on the OTHER side? They look really terrible. Poor quality. Glad I only paid $9 each.

Dissapointed in Funko with these two, but to be honest its better than having no Pinkie and no Lyra at all.

I think the eye reflections are not identical on both sides purposely.
I think that Hasbro does eyes and cutie marks way better. The only lacking things on the funko figures in my opinion are the eyes and cutie marks, being very blah. Factory errors don't count. Luckily the very well 3d and detailed manes and tails distract from the lame paint details.

Wow, I really hope the ones I ordered don't have quality problems :shocked: Very disappointing they let them go with these flaws.

A lot of these always have paint application problems, i have to look and examine so many just to find 1 decent one!
I did get my order from hot topic the other day, i was lucky enough to get the clear Lyra but got a regular pinkie. I even went to hot topic that day and they didn't get any of the chase figures which sucks =(

Usually I don't complain about the quality- but it is really really terrible with this round!
I ordered an enormous box of Lyras- and every single one of them had serious quality issues! More than half have tail drips- and ALL of their eyes- have one or both eyes seriously out of alignment (the black line of the eye isn't flush with the white part- but all over). A couple have smudgy marks like above- where it looks like the pony was moved or touched before it was even dry.
I would agree that the quality of this batch of ponies is even worse than the first set of Rainbow Dash ponies. I wonder if it was because they were rushed? I know that production was late.
I am hoping that much like with Dash and Muffin, Funko will do a second release that fixes some of the quality issues. If that happens I'll definitely want to swap for a fixed Pinkie and fixed Lyra. I figure I'll make the extra Lyras into customs anyway, so it doesn't matter if their eyes are not perfect.
I still have a bunch of extra Lyras- if anyone wants them, they're $11 + the cost of shipping to you :D (I'm sure I'll get lots of takers after railing about the eyes, lol)

Just received mine :). They are very rough looking kinda hard to find a good one , out of 13 lyras that i ordered and 7 PPies it was very hard to find one with no so much paint or body blemishes , i will also offer the extra one for. 11 dllrs plus shipping fees , will keep them for 3 weeks or so and then return the left overs to the store ! My ordering paid off got 1 glittery PPie :). Now the hunt for glittery lyra begins

OMG, those are terrible! I'd definitely be returning those! There is no excuse for this crappy quality at $16.50 a piece!

I want to return the Lyra, but dont know how... I think I might keep her though because I dont want them to toss her. Lol maybe they coyld send me a glitter!? x) hahaha in my dreams!!!

Still waiting on mine to get here, I am so worried because customer service goofed on my address. There were issues with me ordering from the site, took me three tries to get it to accept my order, then it blanked out my address except for city and zip on the confirmation. Called customer service to get it fixed and that was a pain because I used paypal to pay for it and that causes issues when you need to adjust something. SO we got that fixed and I gave them my correct address, spelling it out for the lady and when I got the "they have shipped" email, it had the street address misspelled!!! ack!
So now I am not sure if I am going to get them or not!!! I have been waiting, and now I am nervous and will probably call their customer service again.

Mine arrived today! No sparklies but I'm happy to have them. They've been in stock at my nearest Hot Topic since Sat. so it's been torture waiting for the mail. I'll still be stalking there for the chases but I'm happy the ones I ordered don't have any major flaws; Only a small flaw on the black of one on Lyra's eye which I already dabbed a little paint on and a small black mark on Pinkie's forehead which doesn't bother me much and I probably will be able to remove if I work at it a bit. It sucks to have these worries on something supposedly a collectible though. Your poor Lyra Lightning Twirl! :( I hope you can exchange her easily.

Are people contacting hot topic about quality control, Funko or are you guys just returning them?
My next question is how many did orders and did you receive a glitter?

I got my order yesterday, no glitters thank goodness I found some in the store! :shocked: I bought a ton too, I think the ones in the store are better than the ones they ship online? No idea why though. I had to thoroughly look through all of them it's hard to find ones without flaws! If it's not the cutie mark messed up its the eyes, if it's not the eyes its the glue smudges, if its not the glue smudges its the paint smears... Luckily I was able to find two that are close to perfect!

Phew got mine in too! Yay they got to me! Nothing too obvious that is wrong, there is a paint scuff on one of the two Pinkies on her eye...but I keep thing MIB so who knows about the NDS...no glitters out of the two sets I got....

Got Pinkie and Lyra yesterday as well. And was lucky to find the sparkly variants too! Had to visit two HT's to get this entire haul. But it was worthit! Now I don't have to suffer like I did with the Fluttershy variant.

I'm not fussed on the Pop! line for these I have to say. My Pinkies are here - one sparkly! Yay! - and I will go re-check them for flaws now I think, just in case.
I never had issues with the Dash/Ditzy wave, and the Hooves/Flutter wave was fine as well. I do wish I had kept a Dash since she was so pretty but I did buy them as convention stock.
I do really, really like the sparkle-Lyra if anyone wants to trade for a sparkle-Pinkie! I am in the UK which spanners shipping somewhat.

I got mine in yesterday and their paint job looks good and their eyes are pretty straight :) No variants though! I'm dying ofr the glittery Lyra :drunk:
I went to Hot Topic yesterday and found 4 Lyras and 5 Pinkies but none were variants :P

Anyway, my Pinkie has some minor issues as well. The Pop! figure is just fine (got one of those too) but yeah the normal figure has issues.

First photo shows her botched eye, second shows a brown patch on her mane and then a scratch on her cutie mark, and the last shows a black spot on her mane (and the eye again). I'm not sure what to do about this, I'm normally not too picky with smudges and such but the eye and cutie mark are a bit more prominent of an issue than marks and smudges. What do you guys normally do when this happens?

Haha, same here. I always feel so out of place at Hot Topic and the workers there stare at me all the time XD
