Title: I want to see all rerooted Ghouls!

I want to reroot some of my ghouls and am looking for inspiration, plus i wanna see what colors people have used on different ghouls.  :biggrin: I just ordered the hair to make a dark blue abbey (been wanting one for months lol)

any and all customs would be awesome! I just love alternate haired dolls!

All your rehairs are wonderful but that Draculaura is epecially beautiful! She looks so much more amazing with the green in her hair! :D (Also that Abbey repaint is glorious, you have awesome repainting skills)

Where's Ravie, AcademicSquirrel, and Ponyseeker?!! Their reroots make me jelly like a jellyfish. I have no skillz with the doll heads - I'd rather cut my fingers off! Okay, not really. But for some reason while I love rerooting ponies, I can't bear rerooting monsters.

This thread is absolutely gorgeous thus far, btw!!

polyester rope is a good cheap source of hair when you're looking for volume. I may have over rooted her though.
..this also might have been an excuse to show off my progress on her dress. XD

I did both of these gals...working on a daughter of the green eyed monster, and she has TONS of hair...it's going to take me forever to get it styled right.  o.o  god help me.

CSA: LURVE your white frankie, she's so victorian yet modern looking, if that was an exclusive I'd buy her ion a heartbeat!

Ravie: your 3 eyed ghoul with the Bob is my absolute fave and I normally and not a big fan of bobs, really ALL your suff is to die for!

Everyone who does re-roots has my utmost respect. I can handle ponies, but there's no way I'd have the patience for MH/doll heads, kudos to anyone who has ever donea re-root!!!! :biggrin:

holy crap in a hat dms_a_jem!!!!! please STOP lurking and post more often, especially if you have more in the works. these are all so awesome I can't pick a favorite, tho the dragon and the Siren are definitely top of the list, and I don't normally like yarn hair on MH, but it really suits the siren, especially with those shells in her hair!

also, hopefully not too off-topic: does anyone have any tips for rooting patterns on a CAM? I've never rerooted a doll before and I'm afraid of putting too much hair in the wrong place or something. ;;

Okay so I'm hoping to do my first ever re-root soonish (DC Howleen is going from pink to brown/red hair a la ST Clawdeen and I might end up rerooting my Sig. Rochelle).

I've been looking through a lot of tutorials and I'm going with the knot method simply because I'm a little hesitant about using glue.

Any tips for a complete rerooting newbie?

Another slightly dumb question just to quadruple check.

Nylon is the one that is softer and doesn't have that weird oily texture, right?

For my Pirate, I used the knot method combined with the reroot tool. I didn't need to add glue, but I did anyway because she had a section where the rubber had torn a little.

Basically, It works almost exactly the same as the Tool method.
Instead of just draping the plug over your index finger, you tie the plug in a loose knot.
Before pulling it tight so the knot closes, leave it open enough to slip your index finger into it.
Make sure the ends are nice and even so one side isn't longer than the other, then scoop it up on the tool's needle as normal.
I generally put the index finger of the hand holding the tool over the needle so the hair doesn't slip off, and pull the knot tight so the hair is now tied around the needle.
Then press the hair to the tool using the index finger or thumb of the same hand holding the tool, and stick it in the head.
Pull the tool out again and give the plug a tiny, gentle tug. Just till the knot hits the rubber, and move on to the next one.
Over the next few minutes, the rubber will relax back into the tight hole, and the plug will be secure.

That method is WAY easier on the hands. I could do this for about 10 minutes at a time directly after my carpal tunnel surgery, even while wearing a cast. No struggling with sewing needles and thread or wire. I have no idea if it's faster since I have never done a full reroot using the other methods.

Bonus: You can boil perm the hair without having to worry about glue melting inside the head.

If you paint the scalp to match the hair, try sealing the paint with Liquid Fusion glue. It says it's water proof, and it's what is used in that one tutorial about how to cut off Clawdeen's ears and still make her rerootable. I have NOT tested if this will make a boil perm possible. I am theorizing that it would, but I have no idea. The one doll I did so far is not getting boiled. I keep meaning to do a test head with that, but I have been super busy with my new job.

Wow, Ghoulia looks like a totally different character with those hair colors!

I'm not sure if you could put the red hair up if its super-thick--I have thick hair and ponytails and the like stick WAY out.  It might look funny on a tiny doll head. :/

The black one might look cute in pigtails.
