I would say that that's up to the brony to decide. I think that's one of those classifications, very much like "brony" that, while having traits that can be identified in people regardless of what they call themselves, is self-assigned.
Or was that too literal? :)

I think a collector is anyone that is interested in something. And has two or more of whatever it is. You can be a male or female. My brain is a little slow today...........sorry :(

I came in on g4, but like to think of myself as a fan of the show and a collector, very much not a brony. Mainly because I also like the older generations now too.

My hopeful guess is for g1 to g4 collector's pose ponies (I.e. Snuzzle, etc like we've seen in the fair logo.). :)

I'd really enjoy a new collectors set.
Though...if they follow the first set...they can make two more the way they made the first...
First set had Pinkie + Dash....second set could have Fluttershy + Rarity, third could have Applejack and Twilight...
I really hope they don't force the rest of the mane 6 on us though, because I don't want more of them, as much as I love them! xD

I really don't get it...
No need to get upset. It's just that the "spoiler" is so vague, it could be anything.
We still have to wait for the toy fair to really know what you ment, so it feels a bit..pointless. I'm sure most people know more stuff will get revealed at the toy fair.

My intent was to give everyone something to talk about, while waiting for new pony stuff since there is no new releases from a long time.

I am always a fan of something new...in fact anything different from the main 6 again would be amazing.
I need something that has nothing to do with the main 6 at all lol!
I would also guess at some kind of second Collectors set aimed at Bronies - the last one was super successful after all.
I am sure people can use the thread to continue to speculate about what they hope to see in the 2013-2014 line.

I'd enjoy brushable sized toys of Discord, Chrysalis, Doctor Whooves, Sombra, Bon Bon, Minty of course, Big Mac, Braeburn, :muffin: Pony, Babs Seed...etc
And also fashion style sized Cutie Mark Crusaders that are just slightly smaller than regular fashion style would be awesome. :3c

The C could stand for ANYTHING. Cards, comics, customs, conventions, cutiemarks, Chrysalis, Cloudsdale, ComicCon, the toy fair in Connecticut... and when it comes up we wouldn't know because of how vague it is.

The G4s are great, but I DO miss the days of the G3's, when they were making lots of Different ones, rather than the same ponies with different accessories.
And while I understand Collectors are not their target audience, I struggle to understand how little kids could feel the same way about seeing the same pony with a new accessory...
So, yes, I am very hopeful for something totally new!

Of course people here are "not happy" when what you give them is pretty much "I know something that you don't!! But I'm not going to tell you!!"

I'm happy knowing that there is at least something new on the horizon! Truthfully, myself and my daughters have become a little disinterested with the G4 line lately. A hint of something new to come makes me feel excited!! Besides, I love a good mystery:)

Trust me I would love to know too - I am sure we are all going to be hogging Taobao and glued to our screens when the Toy Fair rolls around in a few weeks! However, I would suggest that we use this thread for our own speculation on what the new items(s) could be and not to criticise the original poster for making the post to start with.

So wait.....2 people are upset vs. the tons who are happy, and that's going to cause you to stop posting at the arena? Come one SoSilver. Don't be like that. Many people are excited about your riddle. However, people do have a right to react the other way. Just the same as the small number of people who do get upset when people post what's up on taobao because they do like to be surprised. *setps off soapbox*
Now onto my thoughts on the riddle. For me C would be Catering to them.....which I don't know is a good thing. People are probably right, and it's probably another collectors set from the show. But, even though I would be happy to see ponies who aren't the main 6, I have to say, I wish it was going to be ponies that didn't have anything to do with the show at all. Since I am about the toys first, and not the show, some characters don't mean anything to me. Like I have zero interest in ever having a Wonderbolt, or a Discord. Although....on the discord front, to be honest, I was not a big fan of G1 Sea ponies or pony pals. lol
But....I suppose this is the theme of G4. Premade ponies that Hasbro will hopefully release at some point. *sigh*
Although.....if in this hopefully set.....Twilight Velvet, Minty, and the 70's Mustached Tennis Boy Pony are all included.....then I will get behind Hasbro 100%, and will throw money at that set without blinking! lol

Other than the Celestia Pinkie/Luna Rarity 2 packs, Ploomette and the plushies I haven't been excited about much that's been announced for 2013. Thanks for giving us a glimmer of hope, SoSilver ;)

Silver I'm sorry that some people are taking this news negatively, but you don't need to listen to them. Just react to the many many positive people that are posting their guesses! They're some good guesses. :)
I'm with many of you when I say that I hope it is something NEW and not characters from the show. My imagination is going so many places with this that I have no idea what it will be, but it is very exciting indeed to know that something awesome is coming!

I can't wait to find out what it is though. Hopefully whatever it is we will see at toy fair and not have too long to wait. My mind will be obsessing over the letter C until then! I absolutely love the ideas of many of the guesses so far and am just dying to see if one of us is right! :happy:

It's not a real pony name (she's really Minuette). Fans called her Colgate before then because her hair is blue and white striped, like the toothpaste.
There are a lot of weird fandom names and jokes that I don't get.

Why do we have to fight? If I remember correctly, SoSilver has posted several images of new ponies right before they were to be released. He's shared his insider info with us when he didn't have to. He posted this thread to get our excitement going about the, lets face it, stalled out G4 line. Personally, I'm reintrigued about what Hasbro has in store for us!
What could the new stuff be?? I don't know. But I'm reeeeeealy excited to find out:)

I agree. It was probably the poor word choice. I think teaser or hint would have been a much better word choice because there was no spoiler. I'm glad there is going to be new stuff though! I assumed that there will be new stuff since the toy fair is just under a month away, but it's nice to have that confirmation. :)

I agree with this. Even if the teaser is simply "something cool is coming up for G4, guys!" Personally, any hinting at new ponies that could be exciting is enough to get me excited. ;)

But how would that even work? I mean, with monster high it makes sense because the parts all pop apart but with ponies those suckers only have the two pieces... But, if they did do it then that means potentially also giving us actually articulated ponies.
Unless they maybe do the blanks like they did in G3?

I still say it's probably another Collector Set like they did last year. Those things sold like hotcakes - and after the first time, I never saw Zecora or the Nightmare Moon set in stores again, plus I think the success of white talky Celestia is why we finally got the white brushy Celestia.
If I could speculate on characters for another big set...
- Chrysalis (in the Celestia/Nightmare Moon mold)
- Minty
- Bon Bon
- Changeling minion pony
- Big Mac
- Minuette "Colgate" or Golden Harvest "Carrot Top"
- Octavia
Although they will probably include 2 more Mane 6, it's nice to dream! ^^

This is my most wanted thing in all of G4... but I don't think it would be this since Bronies wouldn't be interested much? But I'd love to see it happen for an anniversary celebration.

I'm just hoping whatever is coming up has new characters as brushables. I'd love some new characters as fashion style ponies too. Having a FS Lyra or Trixie would be so awesome.
I would just die for a FS Big Mac, but I have to wonder...what kind of outfit would he come with? Surely he'd come with more than just his yoke.

Remember though that the target audience for these toys are children, not bronies. Plus there are a huge number of G4 collectors who are G1 collectors which that would appeal too.
It took many years before G3 collectors saw ponies aimed more at them then the target audience. Then we got a whole line of the Art Ponies and eventually the re-issues.

oh a new collector set would be awesome!!! However, I hope if it's gonna be a TRU exclusive again that TRU get's it together on pre-orders and what not. last time they gave me a heart attack. I'd be more excited if it was a collector set at a different retailer. :p

^This. I wish they were planning something super cool for their 30th anniversary. So now I'm really grumpy that this is something to excite Bronies. No disrespect to the Bronies, as I know that most of them aren't bad, but seeing as this is a big year for the line, I would love to see something to make old time collectors get more excited over G4's.

They did a 25th anniversary thing with G1 ponies, maybe they don't see 30 as that much of a milestone compared to 25.
Although a happy compromise would be to release G4s of Firefly and Surprise - the two oldschool ponies that a lot of Bronies just love.

I would add something but I think what I would have said would be out of line XD So I'm going to behave XD In my book 25 and 30 years is a mile stone, granted they are only 5 years apart... the line could have died within that 5 years and almost did with G3.5
Personally I'd like to see them do a G2 collection for an Anniversary! And then a few years down the road maybe a G3 collection? If they were going to do that...

Hmm.... My guess would have to be a new addition to the Collectors Series. I'm really anticipating any new releases that are going to be comming out :)
My hopes are that it'll be some new Playful Ponies that we haven't seen before (it'll give me more incentive to buy local if they were not an international-only release) or some new Fashion Styles like DJ Pon-3/Vinyl Scratch.
I would love to see things with less of the mane 6 in them (don't eliminate them completely, but don't force them into the packaging either) and more new pony colour combinations (like Honeybuzz, Minty, Lily Blossom and Star Swirl) are very nice to see in collections to fan out the pinks and purples :D

I got a few other ones I liked the color scheme of, but I'd much, much prefer the brushables! :(

I don't like hearing this at all. Especially the part about rarer ponies only being BB's.
And why does the more interest matter now. Collectors have been yapping at hasbro for years about bringing ponies to other areas, and they have ignored us. What more can we do to show more interest.....30 years of collecting the line isn't enough?

Ahh, I completely agree... I loved the sculpted hair at first and all the different colours... Now there are just so many and I can't care about collecting them anymore. :/ I'd much rather get an unknown background pony with brushable hair than another plastic recolour of Rarity.

BOOOO on the blind bags! But YAY for MOAR brushables!!! I wonder if they will make a Sweetie Drops brushable... That'd be awesome. As far as the "incorporating older gens into G4" I have a feeling it's just going to be G3, which I certainly don't mind lol. G3 had some amazing ponies! *hopes for a Daffidazey, Minty, and Sweetberry* And, of course, I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get another set like we got with Nightmare Moon, but with Chrysalis!
And, hmmm..more playsets like the Wedding Castle? But not homes... Now I'm just sitting here trying to solve this puzzle...what sets will they be planning? Sugarcube Corner? But that's technically a pony home. Though maybe these sets they're planning aren't from the show. I haven't a clue, but I'm curious!

Really don't like this. I'm another person who enjoyed collecting blindbags at first but grew tired of them.
Not sure what they mean with "older" ponies though. Like old gen ponies being released as blindbags instead of brushables? (Like they are already doing with the G3 ponies.)

This is true, I think most of it could be considered long term speculation... With the exception of the blind bag part -_-;

I didn't even buy all the petite ponies back in the 80's because I got bored with them. But at least they had little playsets and cool stuff you could do with them. The Blind Bag ponies got nothing.
They should at least release something that you can put the BB ponies in, like a house or some kinda something to expand the play/display options...there are just so many random bind bags sets out now and all of them look exactly alike...they're so tiny that there isn't a lot of quality there if you ask me.

Since the fair from last year, Hasbro has already gone nuts with blindbags and minis. Maybe they will slow down for now because yeah we are getting a little overwhelmed and tired of them. Wave 7 is already sort of released and the only minis left are those neon clear ones. So technically, that has been fulfilled.

That one pink unicorn might conceivably be based off G2 Twinkle Star, but I don't think we've seen ANYTHING else related to older generations, other than G3, have we? (Besides Applejack, obviously, but that was Lauren Faust's idea, not Hasbro's.)
I really think the designers just aren't bothering to go back that far in their archives or whatever, which is a shame because G1 and G2 had the best color schemes IMO.

The people who would get annoyed by something like that would be the kind of people who probably don't buy the "brushables" in the first place. XP I prefer fun toys over show accuracy. I can't see kids getting annoyed at least.

They can use whatever designs they want, the only thing that was really in question was the names AFAIK. They avoided this with Spike by using the trademark "Spike the Dragon" on him (not just "Spike"), which would be a potential way around that.
(But really I wouldn't even care if they named them something else! As long as they were used!)

Hasbro didn't seem to have any problem re-releasing G1's original 6 as toys and the original set of 6 rainbow ponies as toys back in 2006. I don't quite see why they'd have a problem now.

'Autobot Bumblebee' 'Spike the Dragon' That is how they trademarked Bumblebee and Spike.
Why Not 'Fizzy the Unicorn' or 'Surprise the Pegasus' Kids aren't going to pay attention to the little blurb on the bottom besides seeing what the character's name is. And They obviously can still use the G1 character designs, just look at all the merch that came out last year with G1 Characters!!!

Yeah, i saw the "build-a-bear" news on EQD. I feel pretty mixed about it as it is yet another MLP product that will not be available worldwide.

To be fair, you can dress up a bear to look like a princess and BABW has outfits that cater to that.
I don't know how you'd do that for a pony (not saying you *can't,* mind you. . .)

I do know that build a bear does do horse like animals. I remember seeing a unicorn that was like a Uni, not like a bear once in there. So they have done the 4 legged equine like animals before.
I would be interested to see what they look like but really I have so many stuffed animals I don't really know if I'll buy them. Depending on the size maybe the clothing would fit on the giant 18" project pony.

I took the build a bear survey when it was up, and I know it at least mentioned twilight sparkle and pinkie pie by name, so I would think they'd definitely do the ponies. I hope so, because I need a pinkie pie plush on roller skates.

I can say I didn't know BaB was more for collectors... at least not by the commercials I see XD I know it's a specialty plush/toy shop where kids can get unique plushes/stuffed animals

The quality is better than many plushes that can be found in retail stores like Walmart and Target. We'll probably get better looking ponies. I mean, if they're going to be pricey, the quality better be good. I know Funrise has said they aren't aiming for collectors. They're aiming for kids to play with them because I know many MANY bronies keep whining about how they're not show accurate and they out right said that to them.

Build a Bear is the big surprise? I hope not. I would be so disappointed if that is it. I also don't know how they fit in with the letter C. So I'm so hoping for something new in brushable form.

The quality is better than many plushes that can be found in retail stores like Walmart and Target. We'll probably get better looking ponies. I mean, if they're going to be pricey, the quality better be good. I know Funrise has said they aren't aiming for collectors. They're aiming for kids to play with them because I know many MANY bronies keep whining about how they're not show accurate and they out right said that to them.
You know, apart of me say yes what they said it true, and another part of me says no, this is not true. I mean if you plan pon coming out with a DJ-pon3 plush, I kinda think that's more tailored to the adult collectors. lol
Yes, BAB is more of a 'collectors item' You should have seen what the 2nd edition Rudolph plush were going for on ebay. 100-200+ dollars when they came out.

I think the BAB plushes will be ponies. I remember taking part in their survey, and one of the questions was which character from the show we/our children would prefer. Rarity was one of my picks, and then it went on to show me a picture of a generic unicorn plush and asked again which one would be preferable. I think they wanted to see if any old unicorn would suffice at the end of the day without them trying to obtain Hasbro's characters, but I also took it to mean they had quadrupedal horses in mind, and not bears in any case. :)

Yeah... The closest Build-A-Bear for me is roughly 10 hours away in Boise, and last time I was there the cheapest bears were 10 bucks, and I have no doubt Pony BABs would be more than that... I can't get very excited about expensive pony plushies that I can't even go get. Hopefully there's much more to look forward to.

I've bought from Build-A-Bear quite a few times, and though I haven't been there recently, my "bears" usually cost $20-$25 each depending on the clothes and such you got for them.
I feel you on the second part though. I wasn't a particularly big fan of the "Okay now close your eyes and kiss the heart and turn around three times and make a wish!" thing. Even when I was little I found that needlessly embarrassing.

I have it on good authority that the C has nothing to do with build-a-bear. Don't ask me for more info because that is all that I know.
Now that I can still hope for brushables, I can say that I feel a little more interested in the BAB plushes....at least what they would look like. I don't plan on getting any of them.

I'm hoping they have Bon Bon (to go with Lyra), Octavia (to go with Vinyl Scratch), Roseluck and Minty. The ponies that were included with the last Favourites Collection, Lemon Whatsit and Flower Wishes, really didn't grab my attention, and we don't need more of the Mane 6 either.
I also was slightly amused that in the poll comments, everyone was clamouring for a Ditzy Doo brushable :P

Yeah- I don't get that at all- I likes me some Nightmare Moon, but we have her, Lyra and Shining Armor (although I wouldn't mind a re-release of Shining Armor with some different hair)
I don't want more mane 6, but I think that there will DEFINITELY be more mane 6 in the bunch-
I will of course buy the pile even if there is only 2 new ponies- somewhat surprisingly I have managed to trade away and/or scrap for customization all but a few of my mane 6s :D

You know what I really like? That 'RD Shadowbolt' figure actually has little stitch marks on her 'costume' so it really looks hand-made (er, hoof-made?)

Augh, this. One collector's set and two other new brushables in a whole year really goes to show how much Hasbro's interest in them is dwindling, especially with the sheer number of blind bag releases in comparison. :cry: I like the mini figure sets and all, but there comes a point where collecting them just gets stale, especially with their wacky distribution. Hopefully if the collector's sets continue to sell we'll see more in the way of new brushable ponies. Or maybe some that weren't shown at the fair will spring up in stores. Who knows?

-Add an extention onto my wedding castle
-Get Diamond Tiara, Ditzy (really happy about that one), Lyrica, and Queen Chrysalis for my collection
-Get an exclusive Shadowbolt to add to my rare ponies section
-Get a new International Exlusive pony: Ploomette
-Buy some new things to add to my Fluttershy Army (masked Fluttershy for the win!!!)
-A new orange pony, I am giving her the nickname Firesong (as a placecard, till we figure who she is.)
I think we are getting alot of good things this year. I'm looking forward too purchasing them :)
