Title: All the Sims!
Post by: TrixieStix on January 09, 2013, 01:23:11 PM
SO I love the Sims.  Started playing the first, skipped 2 for a bit till I got a better computer and now Sims 3.

I love em <3 Do you too?

What's your favorite thing to do with your games?  I am going to try a Legacy as it's been a while since I jumped in.

Do you like Custom Content?  *guilty* love me some beaverhausenx hairs (s3) :lovey:

Also, have you ever created any MLP sims? or any other themes for that matter ;D

I also love the simblrs that are out there, do you all have one or have certain favorites?

I just want to blab about Seasons and silly sims shenanigans. Come and share!  :frolic:

I have Sims2 Pets for our PS2 but that's about it.

Augh. Sims 2 and 3 have eaten away so much of my life.  Some innocent thing like this thread gets me to reinstall, next thing I know I'm staying up past midnight 5 days a week and it takes a great effort to get me to uninstall... aurrrgh!

Ah, Sims.  I'm horrible; I'll buy the new expansion and then play my life away for three days, then never touch it again. :/  Maybe I should cut that out; I guess I was just too happy that Sims 3 actually works on my crappy not-made-for-gaming laptop.

I played around with the Pets expansion and created a pink horse and named her Pinkie Pie.  I'm waiting for there to be a mod where we can give them wings or give the unicorns different colors so I can do the other characters of the show.  Mind you, they'll probably all face the same fate as Pinkie Pie did:  the trash bin.  Most of my creations end up there...

I LOVED the original Sims and in fact still play it on OS X <3

I also have Sims2 Pets for PS2 and I have Sims3, Pets & the Outdoor Stuff Pack. I really like Sims3 but it's so unbelievably buggy for Mac that it's almost impossible to play. EA just refuses to acknowledge there are issues. Half the time the disc won't even read - it'll accuse you of having an unauthorized copy, a problem that's plagued Mac users from DAY ONE. Ugh.

But... I do adore the first Sims and all its expansions (minus Makin' Magic, that one is okay but kinda lame). I dabbled in making objects back in the day, but did more for the Petz games than Sims. My favorite place by far for custom content for Sims1 is Persimmon Grove and Ferndale Sims. Very quality and unique objects. I would be lost without the Persimmon objects

Ooh! Can I tell my story?
(It turns out this was caused by the mother in my family spying on the neighbor with her telescope, but I had no idea at the time!)
Mama Sim is sitting on the floor playing with her infant child when the neighbor (from another family I made) comes in and starts screaming at her. The two of them yell for a few seconds, then Neighbor storms off. Mom stands there sobbing while her baby plays on the floor. Then the neighbor goes into the kitchen, and happily starts eating the cereal I had laid out for the school-age daughter to eat.  What a jerk! XD
...well, at the time I thought it was hilarious, but I know there're better Sims stories out there!

I would love to play Sims 2 again, but it's just too much for our computers to handle.

Someone else that remembers the Petz games! I actually have them on my USB and been playing them in the computer labs since I been nostalgic for them lately.

Total Sims addict. Started with Sims 2, now play Sims 3 and Sims Medieval (super super sad it has been discontinued). In Sims 3 I've made Monster High sims (Frankie, Ghoulia, Daculaura and Clawdeen (before supernatural so I should do it again now). I also made Monster High and MLP heroes in Sims Medieval (Pinkie pie bard!)

I played the original Sims when it first came out and went NUTS over it and got all the expansions. Before that I was a big fan of Sim Town and Sim City too.

I skipped Sims 2, played Sims 3 for a little bit but I don't have any of the expansions for that one. I still play Sims Social on facebook though.

Sorry! haha I go through phases with the Sims as well heee...

kaoskat I liked the PS2 ones because I could usually play with a friend and just have a good laugh.  ^.^

ApertureScience: I would love a pink horse, that's great! I too end up deleting some of my sims and such as I end up disappointed in something.....like a funny chin hahaha

BlackCurtains: Ooh how'd you get the Sims to work on OS X? I only have a PC copy :( Also I have researched all the problems that plague the Mac community and how EA just moves threads and junk to avoid fixing it. Total bummer since I love my Mac and sims 3 works better on there than my PC right now. I hate that annoying "you have an illegal copy" popup. So not ok...
I too love the quality of Persimmon Grove! That's some good stuff

NoPonySpecial: I love those stories!

One of my favs was from Sims1 and had two couples. One lady kissed the other's man. Well the wife didn't appreciate this.  She walked around the WHOLE outside of the large house just to slap the woman who kissed her hub! She could have gone through the house...but noooo and the other lady just stood there waiting to be slapped!
goobers.

Eviecorn The concept is pretty neat!

Buddafly Yay! I'm glad to hear it haha even if it steals our freetime

WardahYes yes Petz was the best for quite a while and are still cute I loved the Catz one

OLumeVaSti Wow, 6 generations to me is impressive. Sorry your motherboard went  :dizzy: Sims loves to kill computers sometimes

reddsetgogirl Yay more addicts!  Do you have pictures of your lovely MH sims? I'm sure they are voltageous! Now's a good time to make some more, I really want to try some of the MH characters  :art:

RAMChYLD Of course!  That game also has its hilarious moments.

Ginger The orginal sims was the bomb! My classmates and I were all kinds of obsessed and I played with my best friend all the time. There are some good jokes and I miss the language...and my Sailor Scouts custom content....
Sims 3 is a lot of fun with the later expansions. At first it really doesn't seem super fun but it got better down the road minus their bugs and all.  Look out for sales on the expansions if you want them...that's what I try to do even if it doesn't happen all too often.  >_<

Wow, I'm so glad there are others who play the sims!
I'll see if I can post some pics of my Sims addiction and CAS experiments sooner or later.

:pillow: Sims party thread!

Thanks! And well, I also have The Sims 3, Ambitions, World Adventures and Medieval on my iPad, although those only play in iPhone mode (and thus the graphics are a bit blurry) and import and export doesn't work at all :(

Well, I can help :) Basically, I guess the best way is you can use Boot Camp on your Mac. This allows you to install a copy of Windows side by side with Mac OS X on the same Macintosh, essentially allowing you to turn the Mac into an overpriced PC and back.

You can read more about Boot Camp here: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

Additionally, you can try Virtualization software like Parallels Desktop, VMWare Workstation and VirtualBox. Virtualization is advantageous as you can run Windows programs alongside Mac OS X ones, however not all games will work properly with it since virtualized 3D acceleration still isn't mature and is still buggy. Also, you still need to have the necessary disk space and like Boot Camp, you need a copy of Windows.

There is a Mac-native version of The Sims. However, it will not work on Macs running Mac OS X Lion or newer :(

BlackCurtains: Ooh how'd you get the Sims to work on OS X? I only have a PC copy

Aspyr made an OS X version in 2007? I want to say (can't find the box atm). I found a copy of the Sims Complete Collection for 10 bucks on eBay. Works great! I still have my many discs for PC, but I'm not interested in running Boot Camp (unless it's for Win '98 SE, lol) but I thought for 10 bucks, and one disc it was a great deal. I'm still running Snow Leopard, btw.

Also I have researched all the problems that plague the Mac community and how EA just moves threads and junk to avoid fixing it.

I know! Isn't that awful? It's like a conspiracy or something. The last time I was in the Mac forums on the Sims3 site, a moderator hadn't posted once in something like 6 months - yet they kept deleting (massive) threads where people were complaining.

When Pets came out, there was a game breaking glitch where any horse on screen would cause your Mac to completely lock up. Most people couldn't fix it without taking out the battery  And EA's response when they finally addressed everyone? Upgrade to Snow Leopard. The system requirements INCLUDED Leopard. People had a fit about having to pay another $40 to upgrade to play a $40 game that was supposed to run on the system.

And that's about when I looked up Sims 1 for OS X :P Since then I have upgraded to Snow Leopard but I haven't even tried Pets to see if it's fixed. I basically played it once to make a cat. I uninstalled it and just play the base game + Stuff Pack now. I'm too afraid to try anything else!

And that's the awful thing about legacy Mac OS X games. Most of the games that are written for older Macs requires Rosetta technology to run on newer Macs, and Rosetta was retired when Lion was launched. Heck, my printer ceased working when I bought a Mac Mini because Lion no longer supports Rosetta (which the drivers require) and I had to wait half a year for an updated driver!

If you ended up with a Mac that only works with Lion, then using Boot Camp to run the Windows version of the game is pretty much the only option when it comes to running games written during the era of PowerPC Macs :/ At least, unless someone comes up with a Rosetta substitute.

The Sims 2 for the PC and Sims 2 Pets for PS2 was my life for about a year. I had tonnes of custom content on the PC one including horses, skins, hairstyles, clothing etc. I then got Sims 3 after a while and started making my little pony horses. My favorite I made was Gusty :P

Uhhh....this is my life.  :P
I have Sims 3 on both of my laptops, my current goal is to make my evil genius into the emperor of evil and then have a party and serve only cookies.
My other laptop wouldn't install World Adventures for some reason, which is kind of sad so I don't play on it much. I wish my computer was powerful enough to run Seasons, but it is just barely able to run the game currently!

The Sims3 store has taken all of my extra money it seems. I just cannot resist those beautiful add-ons. I don't really trust third-party custom content anymore after something I downloaded from a well-known site royally messed up my old laptop with Sims 2. I used to make custom content in high school, that was lots of fun too.

I am totally not addicted to Sims 3 Seasons.. :silly:

Eep, really didn't like Sims 3 at first and passed it along (Sims 2 was fabby, and weird Sims 3 graphics were weird ;)), but I recently bought the special edition with Seasons thrown in and it's amazing.. Pets or Generations seem pretty cool too, but I'm not sure whether to get another expansion: my computer is a bit hissy with them!! ;o

A few years ago, a friend (at the time.. >.>) let me install all of her Sims 2 expansions.. she had *all* of them except pets, was so cool!! I remember making a Sims Sunnydale as I was quite into Buffy.. I installed Sims 2 again in December (before my Sims 3 disk came), made lots of Grey's Anatomy characters; thinking of doing that again on 3.

Currently have a Sims 3 persona, Rowan.. have managed to get her to Residency in the med career (if only they did nursing! ^.^), she even has my currently purple hair and a passion for baking, eep!

Yeah, I might get to the point where I will want BootCamp and all that fun stuff because I just love my Mac and but like to take the Sims 2 and 1. Of course without having to rebuy them, and because the discs don't work anymore on the new OS like RAMChYLD said.

I would totally dig it if they played on iPad so I could steal my dad's and it would be nice and portable. I do however have enough sims taking over my life!  :silly:

Aspyr made an OS X version in 2007? I want to say (can't find the box atm). I found a copy of the Sims Complete Collection for 10 bucks on eBay. Works great! I'm still running Snow Leopard, btw.

I definitely have Lion as that's what it was when I bought it lol! It would be nice to have it on one disc. I still see the old sims boxes, the really large ones, in thrift stores. Maybe I should grab em for wall art! Bwahahaha....or print them out..... They are kind of cool I think!

I know! Isn't that awful? It's like a conspiracy or something. The last time I was in the Mac forums on the Sims3 site, a moderator hadn't posted once in something like 6 months - yet they kept deleting (massive) threads where people were complaining.

It really is kind of sad, they just don't dedicate any time to learning the Mac stuff. Maybe because they decided to have one set of staff due to cost and just ignore things they don't understand!  :drunk: Cider Cider Cider.

I have kept up with the glitches since Pets because I really wanted to be able to play on my mac when I'm away from home/whatnot. I love the seasons glitch where fall seems to turn lots into a big pile of poop. (Basically)

I'm sorry it's been such a problem for you! I'm glad you still enjoy it as much as you can...but am sorry they run around things as much as they do...

I love my custom content for sims 2 right now. They look soo pretty compared to when I played without it!  Hair is my weakness

Aww Gusty! You don't have any pictures do you? I will eventually get around to making ponies and pony people.

Uhhh....this is my life.  :P
I have Sims 3 on both of my laptops, my current goal is to make my evil genius into the emperor of evil and then have a party and serve only cookies.

The Sims3 store has taken all of my extra money it seems. I just cannot resist those beautiful add-ons. Haha! I love the evil genius traits together. There is some awesome to be had and those faces they make~

Seasons is super powerful, takes a lot to run it @_@ I will test it out more on my PC but I'm sure it will take a beating.
I love/hate the store stuff. They have some nice things and then others that are masquerading as new items when they really weren't!
I'm super happy they released a Monte Vista boxed version and will see if it gets discounted like Hidden Springs, but I am sad to see Sunlit Tides being almost what....$43?! And for all the cool stuff you'd actually want...total bummer. CC is always questionable! Love the beautiful creations but worry about what's in some of them....so yay for Delphy.~
If you made CC that's fantastic! I wanted to dabble in it but always pushed it aside for other things like tennis

-sneaks in-

I am totally not addicted to Sims 3 Seasons.. :silly:

Yay for Buffy and Greys Anatomy! I would love to have some of them floating around in my games.

I too passed up Sims 3 initially because it did look weird but I really enjoy it now that it's developed more.  Generations has a lot of new interactions and some fun objects for the kids, and Pets has HORSES.....and some neat clothes. If your computer is a bit hissy, maybe Gen would be better. Unless you want ponies of course

Simself....I need to make one eventually too. I can do others but not myself!

I'll need to start posting pictures of silly sims soon. I have a few....be back later  ;)

I'm on the fence about reinstalling the Sims for the last couple of weeks now... but I have so many other things to work on before I can play games!  That and I'd have to go get Awesomemod again, totally makes the game way more playable and fixes a lot of the bugs EA leaves behind.  Hrrrrmmmmm

I love sims! I started with the Sims 2 and played Sims 3 for a while before it began to take an hour for the game to load. I usually play sims in three stages: one stage where I make self and friend sims and see how accurately we are portrayed in game, one stage where I create my own little utopian neighborhood but never play it because I'm too busy making other cool lots, and one stage where I get the sudden urge to delete some pool ladders or put a cheap stove in a room full of wicker furniture.

Anybody make custom content? I tried, but never could figure it out.

I've had most of the expansions for each iteration of The Sims. I have to say, as far as genetics go, I loved TS2 because there was so much more variation in facial structure. I resisted TS3 for a long time because all of their faces look doughy to me... but eventually I succumbed, and now I have World Adventures, Ambitions, Pets, Showtime, and Supernatural. I have probably spent over $1000 on various Sims expansions, if I really think about it. Yikes!

And yes, I love custom content. Most of what I'm using in-game right now comes from PeggyZone via Paysites Must Be Destroyed.

Yeah I had Enlaya's skins, they were so nice and smooth-looking.

I liked Garden Of Shadows more than Mod The Sims, just because it had a cooler look to it and the overall quality of the content seemed better... That was Sims 2 though, haven't been to wither for Sims 3 stuff.

I loved "daummustbedestroyed" as well as "paysitesmustbedestroyed". I had so many really awesome foreign custom skins and clothes for my sims from daum and naver. GOS was great too, it had everything from edwardian clothing to punk styles. I remember one user on there made the most awesome post-apocalyptic decor. So many memories! ^.^

All I have is The Sims 3 pets for the 3DS. It's surprisingly good for a handheld game and got great reviews.

Yeah most of them are kind of lame, but maybe I'll look for the 3DS one, I don't have many games for my 3DS atm...

Oh my gosh LOL!! I had the Sailor Scout skins too- LOVED IT!!!! I eventually found Harry Potter and yu-gi-oh too rofl.

Yay!! I had a whole household for the Scouts, I loved seeing them all eat dinner and goof off. I think I too grabbed some yu-gi-oh skins....and potter! Oh man sims 1 was pretty rad. I think I had some Final Fantasy people as well. I do wish they could just have babies like in sims 2, but otherwise it's great.

I love sims! I started with the Sims 2 and played Sims 3 for a while before it began to take an hour for the game to load. I usually play sims in three stages:  one stage where I get the sudden urge to delete some pool ladders or put a cheap stove in a room full of wicker furniture.

Anybody make custom content? I tried, but never could figure it out.

Yay more sims love!  I have definitely been through all those stages. Sometimes I spend so much time building the house I just end up avoiding it for a long time afterwards...hee
And yeah.....I went through the kill my sims phase. I locked one in a small square hut off the side of the house once because he was being a poop. The only thing he had was a chair/fridge and grill.  It was his fault he used the grill.....I didn't expect it to be so deadly....Had only read what happens.....very naughty!  :silly: I feel bad if I do it now a days.

I do not make CC, but admire the creators of it so!

I have probably spent over $1000 on various Sims expansions, if I really think about it. Yikes!
And yes, I love custom content. Most of what I'm using in-game right now comes from PeggyZone via Paysites Must Be Destroyed.
Sims 2 blew me away with their genetics, that's why sims 3 took so long to sink in for me as super fun.  :P And well Aliens.
Haha when you think about all the money it really does make you go:

I like PeggyZone for quite a while too but haven't properly visited the Paysites Must Be Destroyed/so on. I have been floating around them though recently. I want the pretties! :frolic:

custom content is the best part of the game. XD

Yes to all of these haha!  XD I use modthesims mainly for sims 2 now but do enjoy the fixes and such presented for Sims 3.   Enalya's Skins!!! They are drop dead gorgeous! I use them all the time

it had everything from edwardian clothing to punk styles. I remember one user on there made the most awesome post-apocalyptic decor. So many memories! ^.^

I remember Garden of shadows....faintly but I do remember the edwardian clothing! That too really enhanced my gameplay ;D

I have the sims 1 and the sims 2. I doubt I will ever play the sims 3. I have my own reasons. Not that my computer couldn't handle the graphics. One of them is I just don't like my sims game to be extremely realistic. I never got into the sims 2 very much and I may play it again one day I kept all the expansions to it. I know the sims 3 cut out the loading times from what I hear. Im not sure about the bugs though or if the sims 3 is less buggy.
I just play sims 1. I think sims 1 is a classic. I have all the expansions. I really love to decorate. I also think sims 1 lets you mod the game to your heart's content. :) Im a member of CTO Sims. If you like the old game give it a look up they have plenty of things there to download once you get past how many posts you have. (I admit im a download nut.) I guess im just an old gamer in general. I just love classic games.

SkyCakes:  Oooh I just checked out CTO sims because of your mention here. I have noticed that more and more CC for sims 1 has vanished due to people moving on with their lives and thus I thought most of it was lost to space!

This is way exciting and I'm glad you brought it up.  I'll admit I thought at one point there must be a place out there for Sims 1 love but never really googled it.  I think I'll brush up on my sims 1 time and give the forum a go!
The classics I find myself going back to over and over vs many of the new games. Nostalgia? Just a good time!

I am venturing to Vegas tomorrow until Sunday/Monday ish but I will keep checking the thread in hope of new simmers ;D

This also makes me wonder......if (i googled a little bit but still question the safeness of files) Sims 2 store content, since no longer available, is being stored somewhere available for download now? I'd assume it'd be free since the store closed but don't know if I trust the Google links. hahaha  Not that I need it all but was just curious~

Im glad you liked it. I also know a place called N99 or Neighboorhood99 it has some of  the sims 1 files listed there. THough I don't know how to request files from the sims 1 there. :/ Well I know of a webpage that brought me to CTO called Swarm : http://z12.invisionfree.com/SWARM/index.php?s=e5a0bc147c48b5e08c7698e47ee7ccf3&  they have lots of links on Sims 2 and 1 stuff listed there. Of custom content :) Im not sure where the EA maxis stuff is stored though. THey also took down the sims 1 custom content user pages too :/

I recall parsimonious.org having sims 1 custom content as well, but I never looked into it. Wouldn't know about store stuff, though.

 The unicorns are so pretty! I haven't tried hunting one down but I loved seeing all the pictures of them. I am so putting that on my Sims 3 to do list!  Fairy sims will go very nicely with Unicorns....but some of the game generated fairies just make me laugh! Some silly combinations exist out there.  :P

got super sick so no Las vegas for me will have time to sim instead and clean...

Oh I remember the N99.....and thanks for more links to check out ^-^

It's a bummer they took everything down. I understand why but that doesn't make me any less sad!

Parsimonious has great sims goodies!

I just realized I put all the sims stuff I downloaded onto a disc back in the day because of the way computers kept biting the dust....I'll have to go look for it and see what's inside :devious:

I've played all 3 versions of the PC sims and some versions for console too.

My sims 3 family is now on it's 12th generation of offspring, and I still haven't grown tired of it (of course, now everyone in my town is related in some way ^^; gotta get on making some new bachelors/bachelorettes)

I made a Fluttershy and a Rarity-themed Sim :)

Yes Yes, you too :) Thinking I'll go join CTO soon too hahaha.

That's all kinds of impressive! I don't know if I can last that long, but it's one my next experiments!

Do you have pictures of your fluttershy/Rarity sims? That'd be fun to do as well....

I'll have to take some snapshots next time I'm playing it. Not enough time in the day now-a-days to be playing it :P

I go on Sim binges, where I play at least 9 hours straight everyday, for like a week, and then I don't play again for months on end. I always end up creating my husband and myself, or some other form of us, and I always go for the family goal, and put in for reward that gives you multiples after pregnancy, and I end up with with like two toddlers and 3 infants at once, and I get completely overwhelmed, and playing starts to feel like work, and I just give up entirely, and stop playing.

And then several months later, I forget the pain of this, and do it all over again. XD

It's a vicious cycle. :P

This!! Oh man I will do binges on Sims no prob, from making awesome sims and wanting to play constantly then I too get sick of it or whatever and leave.

Recently though I've been super organizing all my Sims 3 stuff and adding in Awesomemod to fix the pudding problems. It's taking more time than I care to admit and I want to actually play but am SO intent on organizing and adding features that I have had little to no playtime!

So much to do in life so little time and yet I want to do so much with the sims too. :|

Story of my life Im always busy downloading lots of stuff to put into the Sims 1. Though I think my computer couldn't handle 65000 downloads. I am too afraid it might implode. ><:
