So with the new year coming I plan to re-organize my G1 collection and at the same time make a check list of who I have, I'm going to keep on the computer for easy access , but I'm wondering if it should be alphabetized or by year.
What do you think?
-
I'd go by year. Have fun!
-
I am making a g3 checklist/price guide...at first I started by alphabetical, then thought maybe year...but ultimately I decided to go by color that was listed alphabetically. I figured that if i couldn't think of the name of te pony, but knew her color it would make it easier to find...
-
Color might be fun too? So many choices!
-
I always go by set/wave so like can be with like. :)
-
As for me I keep track with the guidebooks that helps a lot , every time I have a new us pony I check them off the list.
-
I should do a check list too, but a little bit lazy to do it. ;) :silly:
-
I do mine by year and sets. To me that is the simplest way to see what was released and when.
I get so confused when it's organized by colour or name XD

I'm making mine because it's getting to the point where I'm going do I have that pony?
-
*grins* if you are going to do it on a computer, you could do it in a spreadsheet with color, year, pose, name, and condition, then you can sort by any column you want, depending on what you are looking for. :)(a G1 bait in Glory's pose, or yellow newborns, or whatever)

Perhaps create a Ponydex account? I like mine very much, and it allows you to put comments and pictures as well. You can make note of where you got the pony and when and always have a good reference picture at hand.

I'd say alphabetically.
If you're goal is to remember Who it is you have, that'll be an easy solution. You can always add in cross-referencing to years and sets later.

Ponydex is great!
Personally I have always gone by year and by set when sorting lists - mainly as it keeps all the ponies which were out together at the same time together in a list as well as makes it relatively easy to find things as most pony websites and information sources go by year.
Good luck getting yourself organised - I wish I had done that before I reached the stage of forgetting which ponies I had lol!
-
I list mine alphabetically because I can never remember what year they are from.
