So, I was looking at my old customs on deviantART, and I was thinking... I could do that so much better now! Then I remembered those "draw this again" memes that are floating around, and I was thinking of making this into a challenge of sorts!
Would anybody else be interested in doing this with me? I don't know if this should be an "official" challenge with dates and check-ins, but I'd like to see what some other people can produce. I think this could be a lot of fun. C:

One of the first ponies I did was this horrid masquerade pony that turned into a hot mess. I even tried to sell her very cheap a long time ago and no one wanted her XD. She's like this reminder of failure on my shelf and I've always wanted to redo her. I may be up for this.

I have several ponies I've love to fix. I already ripped apart my butterfly customs (the wings were awful and my painting skills were really lacking) so I definitely have some good candidates.

Love the name! XD I actually prepped my first custom/restoration for this sort of thing not too long ago and haven't started on her yet. I've also got some G1->G4's that could use some help... So I'm in!

Ooh, so are you guys thinking of fixing a messed up custom, then? That sounds cool! I have a few customs that would qualify. I was thinking of remaking from scratch, since I'm no longer in possession of my oldest customs. I think either would be fine!

I have a mom and baby sunflower set from early on that are never allowed to see the light of day! That was like, 2008. This could be fun!

I do have one of my earliest customs that I never really liked completely (used cheap iridescent tinsel... tried to take it off... not pretty >_<) so I would really love to turn her into something I'm happier with! Or I could also try to make another one inspired by that one :P following your original idea ^.^.

I am actually thinking about completely stripping her down and doing something different. She's kind of a black circus horse and when I was a kid I REALLY wanted a white circus horse pony so it may be a completely new pony. I'd be using my old pony as bait XD

I don't think it really matters whether you fix an old one or remake it from scratch, as long as you provide before and after pics. :)
I've been thinking about something like this, it would be nice to revisit an old design with my current skill set, but I can't bring myself to scrap my old customs so it would be the start from scratch version for me. The problem is, my old customs were all pretty simple in design so I'm not sure if they would make interesting customs... as there wouldn't be much to work on other than paintwork. Well, I could pick my least favourite custom and see if I could tweak her design a bit so that I would actually like her. I don't have that pony anymore but I have pics.

I think I have 2-3 ponies I could use for this. As total remakes, anyway; none are in my posession, since they're all swap ponies. :huh:

omg I totally had this happen to me recently! I was making a twin set of a design, and the second twin turned out soooo much better than the first, in my opinion! I was so frustrated, cuz they didn't look the same cuz one was so much more detailed and precise gah! >.<
I'd definitely consider doing this,though! For sure! I'd love to give a whack at my first custom, redo that one, and maybe fix another one that I did early on, so I'd be down for a start-from-scratch redo or just a revamp custom :)

I...don't know. I've never hosted anything before! XD I think we should have dates and a list of participants.
I guess I'll just ask: What dates would work for you? When should we start this? And if I started this up, would you participate?

I'd possibly be able to participate if this started after the holiday season. However, I'd be reluctant to share the original pic of my original custom :yikes:

LOL!!! I was thinking the same thing. I will do it though, because I know how much I enjoy an extreme makeover :D (This is assuming the 2nd attempt works :lookround:) and it may inspire anyone who is working on a custom they don't love. XD
Also, I am in. Not sure what dates would be good. Maybe during January? It might kind of fit with the whole 'resolutions' theme ;)

I actually have one that I started working on XD I have this super old custom, one of my first ones, that I did to represent the Gravedigger monster truck. I got the great idea to do it in a different generation, with all new materials, the same basic design, and I've even reposed the pony and I have plans for an epic base for it too :3 I have both the old one, and I'll have the new one. The old one sadly got sticky and has cat hair stuck all over it :cry: I've been thinking about trying to clean it up, and his hair is all ratty too >_<

I'm in! I'm not that old of a customizer and I don't have tons of experience yet, but I want to at least participate! I will be using a bait though, not any customs I've done...I know what I was trying to do years ago when i made my very very very firs ponies...but they didn't turn out well. Paint lines, I was convinced I could use those fabric butterfly wings, and I even bought cheap jump ropes and unraveled them to make hair...it was oodles of curls. xD

no that was just a costume on the zombie bbe. im talking about that white and blue one that i tried sculpting on... Baby Princess Frozen Dreams or something silly like that.
