http://www.youtube.com/MyFroggyStuff this gal makes (and does tutorials for!) some really awesome furniture. I haven't made any of the things yet, but boy do I want to :)
OH my gosh!! I love that black bathing suit she has!
I did a shoot this week with Chari and I used a dress of mine for her backdrop, lol!
I am just going to keep the challenges here since we already have some fabulous links on here :D
CHALLENGE 1: Make/buy/acquire (legally ;) ) a chair/sofa. Something for your doll to sit on :)
This week I am going to try  to make a chaise lounge.

Jiggles, thanks for the pix! I was looking at some standing jewelry boxes yesterday and your pic really halped me 'visualize' what it would look like and the stove!!! Oh wow. I love Victorian stuff and that is amazing! Is it cast iron?
Mine is not nearly as ambitious as yours, miss fancy pants!
Salli
That lounger is AWESOME
I would love to give this a go(if i thought it would look half decent) as I promised my daughter I would make her a custom HM castle and furniture for christmas(But i suck at making things like this) lol

Such a bunch of cute stuff Dawn! I am drooling over your candelabra.
You are right about the obnoxious pink furniture. I don't love pink. When I do like pink it's very pale. Not in-your-face. They have some amazing new spray paints available that are designed to adhere to plastic. I plan on using them then I get to a challenge that requires it :D Like dining room stuff. Give it a try, and the tutorials are fantastic!!! I am lovin them.
The girls watch a scary movie...

Hrrm, I'm going to have to try and see if I can make something. I have fabri-tac glue that might help! :D
I love looking at all these pics, guys! I'm not very crafty AT ALL, so I usually end up just buying the things I need, lol. I've made a few pieces of 1:6 scale stuff, but the thought of making things for my bigger dolls still terrifies me, haha. Finding furniture for 1:3 scale dolls is entirely too difficult though, so I might give it a whirl. BUT, since I took a few pics today, check out this chair that I got for a steal on eBay!

What a great chair! Your doll is absolutely beautiful, BTW :3
That bar stool is awesome!
I've got a miniature hot glue gun but no glue sticks--keep forgetting when I'm at the craft store.
Oooo, maybe you are a psychic! :D If so, can you tell me what the next challenge is going to be? lol I can't decide.
The truly sad thing is that except for the bead strand I had all of those craft things... :D I am hoping to get some lamps made today after I finish my niece's dress.
OMG, I think I just got an idea for a lamp. Too many left over seashells, I think I'm going to need something to do with them.
Pink, does that mean you would be interested in a food/beverage-making/acquiring challenge? and flowers? I decided what I am doing next week, but I haven't decided on the easier challenge for the week after. I would be up for either of those.
Oh, and when we get a few of these things made (after week 4 or so) we need to see pix of all of them together :D
Alicat, your girls look so at home on their couch! I want to know what they are discussing :D Cute stool too!

Boy Ghouls, of course!! well, and fashion, too!
Oooooh, love it all Pink. :D You actually had a different idea of a lamp than I did!
Loooove the shopping bag idea!!
Pinkamena, those look great! I love that table, I want to make one similar if you don't mind. The lamps are too cute and the bench looks great.
fiwen, I am dying to see pix of your beach chair! I want one sooo bad. I just finished my doll's swimsuit and am probably going to have to make one for my shoot :P bleck. Sounds not fun.
I want to do a table/bar thing in a bit, but I kind of wanted to finish up the 'sitting room' first. I just had a great idea for the next challenge. Y'all will have to wait til Tuesday to see what it is though... anyway, my lamps still aren't done yet :)
Beach chair! It's a bit too small for my MSD to sit properly, and over-sized for MH, but it fits my Pullip just right! I'll be making a pad or cushion for it to cover up the hole too xD

I really like this - it fits your pullip PERFECTLY! And your pullip is just stunning.. Is she a custom, or modified stock?

Thanks! She's a rewigged/rechipped Xiao Fan :D
Well done! And thanks, Tuney :) I am so happy I made this thread instead of just making stuff on my own. This is so fun and inspiring!!

I'm really pleased you made this thread too :p Gives me a reason to go play with glue and stuff, which I love doing but never do it often enough. And it's definitely inspiring! At the bootsale this morning I was looking at everything with new "can-I-convert-that-into-doll-furniture?" eyes :D
I decided to go ahead and post a picture of my chair, even though I'm not finished yet. I still need to finish painting it-- I want it to be gold, silver and copper and make the paint kind of distressed so that the black shows through in places. I wanted something that looked kind of steampunk and went with a lock and keys theme.

And here's a picture of my dragon girl sitting in it.

Thanks guys! I'm kind of tempted to leave the chair black, it would be more versatile like that. I made it out of food boxes, and a piece of corrugated cardboard for the seat, and popsicle sticks with one end cut off for the legs to give them stability.
Thanks!
I think I may go ahead and paint it metallic. But I want to make another one that's plain black.
I have been really slacking lately! Buuut, I just got this awesome furniture lot off Evilbay. It is just begging for a few awesome mods!!!

whooo hoo! I got super motivated last night and did my room. I stayed up till 12:30 working on it! I am a tad disappointed that the mod podge left some light swirls, but overall, am pleased!
I think I may get some dollhouse trim to make baseboards, too.

I got my backdrop sketched out tonight on the foamboard and I used an embossing tool to trace the lines. This is going to take forever to paint though. But I realllllly want a Hogwarts backdrop. Eventually I plan to add a floor, possibly two side walls, a 3-d spiral staircase, purple curtains on the big archway and two 3-d torches in the small archways in the foreground. I'd also like to make some sort of chandelier and somehow hang it from the top (may have to do a domed ceiling somehow). Oh, and possibly a couple of 3-d columns to go on either side of the big arch. I just wanted something quick and easy. :drunk:Wow, it looks great! :-)

Update: Here it is with some color added. I've started working on the shadows of the foreground and then I'll do the highlights.

I've just been visiting this thread here and there. You guys are doing great:) I've got SO many dolly projects to do right now, but now I want to build a room to take pictures in!
Jiggles: I love your Pullips eyes. They are so pretty. I also love the circle shelf thing:)
Quick update: I finished my walls on saturday evening :-) They're made of paper covered foamboard attached together with velcro. Now all I need are some little framed pictures for the right wall, some curtains (just need to buy the fabric), cushions, a lamp (bit late on that challenge!) and a miniature cuckoo-clock.

This looks AWESOME!!! I love that window! What did you use for the floor? Thanks! ^^ Glad you like the window, I'm planning on making some curtains as soon as I find some suitably kitschy fabric (I'm thinking red and white dots :3). The floor and the window sash are made of one of those cheap bamboo placemats, they make quite a good source of realistic looking wood if you don't have access to a band-saw.
Wow, Dawn!! looking good!! I love the floor! I really wish I had made mine where it could collapse as well, but, oh well!It all sounds awesome, brag away! :D
So, I finally got my furniture lot in! I had a whole post over on TS about it taking 8 days for the lady to ship it out! I could have driven over to her and back 16 times by the time she shipped, grrr! I got hte fire under my tail and painted and embellished it all! All I have left is sewing a bedspread. Should I post some piccies yet? I feel I may be bragging, lol!
Dawn that looks sooooo awesome!! Good job!!! I am so impressed. Can you get a pic with your doll in it :D ? I've been looking at placemats too, that looks so fantastic!Aww, thanks ^^ I'll probably take some more pics when I'm done with some of the fabric parts which'll probly take like, a month - crafting is such a slow process x/
My doll is 16" tall and so I had to make a fold-down house with foamboard walls. They also go together with straight pins inserted through the foam.
I got got my brick wall covered and my curtain rod painted. I will finish on whatever point I get to. I still haven't found my camera but I will try to get a pic with my son's camera.
Tomorrow is a new goal everyone....
@tribble: completely off topic, but I always wanted to ask - is that your raccoon in your avatar? I absolutely love them ^^
I've always wondered that myself, about the raccoon:) S/he is so cute. Does it have a name?
Yep, that is my raccoon... His name is Zorro!! He is the most sweetest raccoon ever... He doesn't live with me now, he lives on the North Carolina on the Native American indian reservation. I just didn't have the money to build him the room he needed. Little guy destroyed computers, tore down the ceiling, tore wallpaper of the walls, etc... etc... But I miss him terribly.Awww! Zorro is such a cute name! (Okay, now my fiance is laughing at me for "aww-ing" out loud xD) I knew it was difficult to keep them as pets, but I didn't know they actually tear down walls and stuff - I'm glad he's happy at the reservation though :-)
Aghhh! I am soooo close to done. My doll is sitting on her lounge, with her table and lamp set up on her floor and rug while the walls lay flat, waiting for the art I attached to dry. The curtain is even hung up...
I think I may dig up that tea set while I wait...
...or...I could wrangle my cranky, screaming children.
Anyway, here is her room so far. I think the rug is too small a scale for this room, so I may try to find a bigger zebra print rug :)

I almost forgot. That brick wallpaper was from Joanns in the scrapbooking section and I just love how that came out. The smaller frames on the wall were from the Michael's value bins. The bigger one was from a garage sale and I ripped the hideous print out. I spray painted them matte white. The table is most of a candlestick but up-side-down with a marble coaster on top. I didn't show the flowers well in this but they are from Joanns and the vase is a recycled conditioner bottle from a hotel we stayed at. I just cut off the top :) I'll get pix with Dalice tomorrow. I may get one with a MH doll in it too so you can see the scale.
Oh, my walls are foamboard being temporarily held together with pins and duct tape on the outside, the floor is just $1 squares of adhesive-backed linoleum squares from Home Depot. :)

Hi Rainsong! I am in Oregon too :D That's a great idea, I will write the challenges and page number on the first post :)
Bewilderness ... I WANT TO COME PLAY DOLLS! That looks so great!! Is Robecca in Divination class? Sooooooooo cool. I love it. You get an "O" for Outstanding! If it were my shelf, I'd paint it dark cherry or mahogany. I think most wood in Hogwarts is stained dark. Buuuut I also love dark-stained things personally, so I might be biased.thanks! It does look kind of like Divination class. :D I hadn't thought of painting the shelf mahogany but that's a good idea.
That chocolate frog is fantastic, lol! And I love all the little dishes and bottles! Makes me want to go crazy buying Barbie accessories, haha! Thanks! My paypal account has suffered quite a bit the last couple of weeks, heh.
{Also, just a heads up: I may be 'hosting' :shifty: a 'Headless Hunt' in October which means you will be acquiring/making a horse (or other mount) for your doll. So, keep an eye out for a cheap one if you want to participate in it. It'll also mean acquiring or making some tack. I think we should post pix on a separate 'Headless Hunt' thread just to show off our work. Your doll doesn't have to be headless but it should be fall or Halloween themed.}
I'm running so behind...the last week and a half here has been crazy and things probably won't settle down again for another few days, so I haven't even started on a table and benches...I was wanting to do a couple of tables like in the Great Hall at Hogwarts and some benches to go with it. Salli, I can't wait to see your AbsintheRoom! Sounds like it's going to be amazing.
I was thinking it would be neat, when we get through with the furniture self challenge, to do a fashion self challenge...like a pair of pants one week, a shirt the next, etc.
This thread is amazing! *stalks*... I think I may attempt to join, only I'm thinking of doing pony sized furniture instead... maybe Barbie stuff for my daughter... but I have some pony plans. ;)
Yay! Saba is here! =D
