Viva Las Vegas!?
« on: March 02, 2012, 03:52:03 PM »
Hello Gals and Pals,

I am on my way to vegas in a week or so for a business trip. I just found out I have  a bunch of free time to fill both with and without my co-workers. I have never been to Vegas before.

What should I go see and do?

I'm not a gambler, but I love beautiful buildings and places with amazing designs (but I don't like spending money :P). I also love roller coasters and shopping (mostly ponies lol) . I love to see exciting sights (free or cheap are best) and I love musicals and shows. I will be staying on the strip, I think the in new Marketplace area.

Is there a show you guys suggest? What can I not miss while in vegas?

Thanks for your help! :D

It sounds cheesy, but I really do recommend seeing a show.  I always do in Vegas.  Cirque du Soleil usually has something really impressive.

Oh, and you must see Purple Reign.  :)

oooo I was there a few months ago, you can walk right in the MGM casino and see their lion exhibit for free, and infront of the bellagio they have a wonderfull water show that goes off every half hour or so but it's wayyy better at night because there are lights in the water too and it all syncs up with music

If you're into musicals, go see "Phantom"! My friends have seen it several times, and they loved it. They'll take me to see it, too, when I go to the US in May. I bet you'd enjoy it. Have fun!

Yup...if you are going to Vegas make sure to get a show whether it be musical or concert or simple entertainment...I do every time I go on businesses it always "makes the trip" there is something special about seeing the performances in Vegas...a lot of them are well priced for what they are [some are scary money but most are reasonable for what you are buying in to see]

Have a blast its my fav place to go to in the US!

Both parents went there last summer and had a blast--and dad doesnt gamble.  Havent been there personally so I dont really know what to suggest, but I do liove circque!  The Titanic exibit was a focal point for them as well, allong side going into all of the hotels and seeing all the themes :)

Hm....my mom lives there so I'll ask her.  I know MGM has lions that you can walk under - they are above on a clear floor.  Circus Circus has an arcade w/performers on the upper "kids" floor.  Excalibur does jousting shows (you have to pay, but I've heard it's quite fun!).  The Luxor (the pyramid) is fabulous!  It's all Egyptian themed.  Little Ceasars has living statues you can watch.  Treasure Island has a pirate show outside their building that goes off every little bit.

There's tons to do that's not gambling related.  :)

Some of my friends are thinking of going to Vegas in May, I'm not sure if I can afford to go with them, but if I do I will have to keep some of these suggestions in mind!

When we went to Vegas 2 Aprils ago, they charged to see the lions, so we didn't see them. I enjoyed walking around and visiting each of the casinos. I don't gamble, but I do enjoy some beverages now and again. We saw the scantily clad Cirque show. It was really neat!

I had a BLAST in Vegas, if you like Rollercoasters then check out the Stratosphere for one, I did all of those rides when  went...the Desperado at Buffalo Bills,  and the coaster at New York New York is GREAT! Also if you like beautiful buildings check out Mandalay Bay, it's worth it for the aquariums alone.
