Pony Brag Arena / Rescuing the nastiest (free!) ponies ever
« on: May 22, 2023, 02:49:49 PM »
Okay, I'm sure someone has found nastier ponies, but these are the worst I've gotten my hands on!

I haven't posted in ages, but this warrants making an appearance. I often check the free section of craigslist, but generally I'm hoping to find farm supplies or furniture. There was a normal post about a barn clean-out, but when I opened the first image I spied a familiar shape...

I went the next day and got to poke around in the barn - I think many of the things in there hadn't been touched in at least ten or twenty years, judging by the thick layer of dirt on everything. Poor Sweet Pop was luckily still there, and I found an equally grimy Sprinkles in a box of other toys!

They are definitely not going to clean up gorgeously - they have physical damage and stains and other problems, but it was so much fun to find these abandoned in a barn and get to rescue them. It's so rare to find G1s in the wild these days, especially for free!

I'll post an update after they're cleaned up!

EDIT Fixed images!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Kitty in my Pocket Birth Certificates
« on: September 09, 2020, 08:15:41 AM »
I posted them over on the IMP forum in case they might be interesting to other IMP collectors. I really wish that forum was more active, too, so I guess I'm being the change I want to see, haha!

Yes, toys with history are so cool to see! I remember buying a pony at a pony fair years ago that had initials written under the hoof and the seller said something like, "Ugh it's such a shame, parents shouldn't allow kids to do that," and I was like, "What?? No, I love it!"

Oh wow, this is so sweet! And it's nice to see someone treating what kids wrote on their stuff as special rather than "flaws." I can get you photos of mine later, although I don't think I always filled out the birth certificates.

I was about to ask you if you knew about the 90s IMP forum, but I just went there and saw you posted there too!

1/22 - Added So Soft ponies and Polly Pockets!

Hey all! I just posted a bunch of G1s on my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/deerandmagpie

I have more G1 ponies to post in the coming days/weeks, in addition to a bunch of accessories and playset parts, so stay tuned! I'll keep this post updated/bumped as I add stuff. I sell all kinds of other various vintage toys in the shop as well! I'm based in the U.S. but can ship anywhere.

There's an In My Pocket forum run by the same person who made the ID site linked above - http://vintageinmypocket.proboards.com/

It's not super active, but it seems like a few of the serious collectors check for sales regularly. You've got some cool stuff that I think is harder to find and that someone there would probably be interested in!

Oh, that's awesome!  Is there anyone hiding in yours?   Or is it there for Creamsicle to nibble on?  ;)  It looks so nice with the newborns in front of it.

Nah, mine's empty and I keep it closed because it's on top of a six foot tall bookshelf and it looks kinda weird from below if it's open, unfortunately. So I guess for now it's food for Creamsicle and a fort for the triplets! Someday I'll probably display it with my Puppy/Kitty In My Pockets, whenever I finally get them from my parents' house. Is yours going to be displayed with your ponies?

Heeeyyy I have that same treehouse! I also found mine at a goodwill a couple years back, and I have it displayed with my ponies:

Wanted! / Looking for Lavender Lace or TE Bright Eyes
« on: June 07, 2015, 11:33:51 AM »
I'm looking to buy myself a birthday present and these two are currently high on my want list! I'm only looking to get one of them, whichever comes along first/is more affordable/is in better condition.

The nicer condition they're in, the better, of course, but I can accept some flaws. Some paint wear/scratches is fine, as well as some small marks on the bodies. I'll consider ponies with minor haircuts. I know Bright Eyes is prone to getting cancer marks, so a couple spots in inconspicuous areas is fine!

I'm planning on buying, but if anyone is hoping to trade, just direct me to your want list! I do have a bunch of extra ponies and accessories hanging around.

Please PM me if you have either of these ponies available! :)

I had Bridal Beauty as a kid, and while I was aware that she was supposed to be wedding-themed, I interpreted her all-white color scheme and fancy veil to be regal rather than bridal. I was never interested in wedding stuff, so she was just the queen of my herd! These days, if I had to pair her up, I'd choose Pony Bride.

I had one a while back with super pink hair. Her hair definitely wasn't dyed, since she came from a box of filthy ponies rescued off the curb! Sometimes the pink hair really is just extremely pink.

If you're wanting to sell locally rather than online, I live in the Boston area, although I don't have a lot of extra money to be spending on ponies at the moment. It sounds like you're looking to just get rid of stuff rather than trade, right? Anyway, feel free to send me a PM if you want to try to figure something out! :)

Pony Corral / Re: Would love to see your own Pony Families

I have some made-up families, but many of them aren't complete yet. I do have a couple pics of ones that are complete, though!

I generally start with the babies and figure out which adult ponies they most look like a combination of, and I was pretty pleased with this resulting family. The babies have Sunspot's coloration and Nightglider's symbols, plus I just enjoy the night/day thing this family has going on.

I love seeing ponies organized by color! I can't believe I didn't notice these threads sooner! Anyway, here are my purple ponies (and one moose :P):

Whoa, congrats! What a great find - there's so many teeny accessories and petites that would ordinary get lost. The translucent orange comb goes to the Buddy L pony (the peach fakie), by the way!
