How do you clean your Nirvana ponies?
« on: March 09, 2012, 11:16:32 AM »
Hi ponies,

How do you clean your Nirvana ponies when they are all grubby and need a bath?

Which products do you like to use and give good results?

I use the following (not all at once!)
* washing up liquid
* tooth paste
* cif
* bleach and mould spray
* conditioner
* acetone for some marks

I always start out with the mildest product and work my way through until the grim is gone!

I have only used magic eraser, i used shampoo/conditioner on my butterscotch piggy ... because the hair was dry and stuck together... it helped a bit... but its still not great.... maybe someone can give me a suggestion?

Generally I don't! :yikes: At most I usually just give them a wipe with soap and water.

Magic eraser, soap, water and shampoo conditioner.  Possibly acetone in small volumes.   Most of the time I'm too scared to touch them.  ><

I found a site once that sold special cleaning foam or something like that for vintage dolls which would also remove ink without harming the plastic. I've been meaning to buy and try it but never got around to it. If I find the site again I will share it.
If you have G1 MLP fabric for sale please drop me a line (large quantity even better ;-))

Is it the twin pines removezit? That actually can harm the plastic (and the skin) if exposed for too long, but removes ink wonderfully.

I have always cleaned my ponies (Nirvana & regular) the same way. Simple toothpaste on the body (scrubbing with a small bristle toothbrush), and shampoo & conditioner on the hair. I've never tried Magic Eraser or any of the other cleaning methods. I also don't usually open heads & clean inside, unless the head is already loose & there is an obvious need.
