Gusty variant with PURPLE streak???

I've been meaning to make a post about my possible Gusty variant for a while now.  I got her a long time ago from someone in the Midwest who mostly collects Breyers; I don't think she knew much about ponies.  She said she found this Gusty at a garage sale.

As you can see, her streak is purple instead of the usual red.  Other than that, she looks like the normal American Gusty.  Her hind feet are stamped c '84 HASBRO PAT. PEND. and HONG KONG.
 
There are a few things that make me think she's a real factory variant:  The first is the messy plugs inside.  When ponies are rehaired, the plugs usually look much neater inside, right?  Originally, I wasn't planning to open her up just to prove her authenticity, but her head was already loose.  But I still don't think she was rehaired because the old glue was still clinging around her neck, and I think if she's been rehaired that old glue would have been peeled off.
 
The ends of her mane also show just a little bit of age and wear, and the purple streak is no different.  I wouldn't call it dry, just not fresh.
 
And there are a few other weird things too:  As you can see in the second pic, the purple steak is actually a little longer than the rest of her mane.  Looks like sort of a bad factory job.
 
And finally, the ends of her purple streak are even, but, you know, not super duper even.  By that I mean that they don't look like they were all cut straight across with a pair of scissors.  The plugs closer to her ears are actually just a bit shorter.
 
So what do you think?  Is she the real deal?

I hope so too!  I've always wanted a Gusty variant.  Maybe she's not Reverse Gusty, my ultimate grail, but she's a pretty good start. 
 
She's in nice condition too; just a bit dingy with a couple faintish pink highlighter spots on her butt.

She's so pretty. She looks legit to me I think she's better than reverse Gusty.

Custom or not, i think the purple stripe looks great on her!!

It's possible she is rehaired, when you rehair the inside of the head gets pretty messy. The factory weave is much neater.

I would pull the head off another pony that has a similar stripe and compare Perhaps Moondancer, Powder, Highflier (unicorn) or any from that set?

I would venture that she's the real deal, Hasbro is known for their poor quality control...  And there are plenty of variants of other ponies.    Honestly I think the only way to tell would be to check the glue.

Does the purple stripe weave match the green weave?  And does her tail match and is it original (w/the metal bit in it)?

Edit:  Yep, tail is secured by a regular metal washer.

I would venture rehair because of the loose head and messy plugs, but that's by no means a certainty

she is pretty and i have not seen anything like her before!

is there any pink/red staining round the plug holes of the purple stripe? sometimes the colour from the bright pink leaches in to the plastic leaving a stain

as for rehairing ~ depending on how it is done (tool, knotting or weaving) it can either look messy or neat inside! the same goes for factroy weave hair, it can look messy or it can look neat depending if the machine got snarled up!

she's really cool! i like the purple streak better than the normal red, it actually matches the symbols nicely!
