Putting PE into storage?
« on: July 20, 2014, 09:37:01 PM »
I have a wonderful Paradise Estate that I love and currently have out on display. But my house is getting pulled down soon, so I'm having to move.
The problem is, I know how to pack up all my ponies nicely, but have no idea what to do with the Estate!  I've never had to move with it before and when I got it it was already set up.

My question is, how do people put theirs into storage so that it doesn't take up a HUGE amount of room, but aso doesn't break?
Any help would be amazing

Speaking as someone who has sadly never had her PE assembled except once for a photo, I've had to keep it in pieces in two cardboard boxes. It's the only playset not on display because I keep all MLP stuff in my old closet. Such a shame PE is so freakin' big...! :(

I've packed and repacked PE many times.   The good news is you can fit it into one large box.  It just takes some time getting the pieces to fit in there right.  I've got one boxed up. I'll try to take some pictures in a couple of hours for you.

I'll try to type it out and add pics later.
First thing would be to pop off the roofs. Be careful of the edges.
Place 2 roofs inside one of the rooms.  Place the pool canopy inside as well.
Flip another empty room on top of the room with the roofs, covering the roofs and canopy.
Repeat this process for the other two rooms and roofs.
Place furniture, doors and accessory pieces into  any space available in these room sets. Add padding to keep things from shifting around.
Place 1 set of rooms in the bottom of the box.
Place the 2nd set of rooms on top of those.
Place the patio, pool and steps to the side of these room sets inside the box.  You can use the space in the pool area to stash extra accessories and building pieces.
Add plenty of padding to the extra places to keep it from shifting around.

*lol*   I have pics too ;)

The dimensions of the box are in inches, so you'll need to convert to metric measurements.

A set of rooms. The roofs are wrapped in that paper; accessories stuffed in the areas around.

The most important thing you need when packing up a PE is patience!!

You're very welcome :)   Like I said, I've done this a few times ;)   I even packed a PE in luggage on a flight to Florida when the Fair was there.   It was like playing Tetris with 6 tables' worth of wares and 4 pieces of luggage!

Oh!  Another helpful tip is wrapping the pieces in plastic wrap. It helps hold those room sets together and keeps the surfaces from getting scratched up.

Just be careful of those roofs. The edges can be pretty fragile.  And the little hinges on the rooms too. I position those to the inside of the box, with packing materials around them.   If you have any questions as you're going on, feel free to message me :)   Good luck with the move!

I wish I'd found this before I packed mine into two boxes - no where near as neatly! I did use bubble wrap and nothings moving anywhere... but still... Taking the roofs off  :argh: seems so obvious now!

Ah well, only three weeks (ish) to go and it may even be able to be on display in my own pony room *eek!* I shall bookmark this thread for the next time I move!
