Hi everyone! I'm Solar_Oops. For the past several years, the Arena has been an excellent source of pony news, and restoration and customization tips for me. I was happy lurking up until now, but for whatever reason i could no longer see images in the forums as a guest. Therefore, I'm now a member. About me: I'm 29, and work as a digital artist in Sterling Heights, Michigan, North of Detroit, USA. I may now live in Southeast Michigan, but i'm a Yooper by birth (in other words, from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, or U.P.), from a lovely city called Marquette, to be exact. I played with ponies as a kid in the 80's, and forgot about them until high school when i stumbled upon a webring of 80's toys that included Fashion Star Fillies, Lady Lovely Locks dolls, and My Little Ponies. I was hooked. MLP's biggest draw for me are the color combinations and variations - call it an artist's weakness, i guess. In any case, I scoured the house for the ponies my sister and i had when we were little and had lost to storage, and then, in college, i discovered ebay and amassed a vast horde of G1s. I ended up selling off the majority of my collection just before starting and while working towards my master's degree at the San Francisco Art Institute, which was a gloomy prospect, but i don't regret it and am glad to just have had seen the old toys from my childhood again and held them in my hands. Anyway, I love all generations of ponies, but my interest definitely waned toward the tail end of the g3s and the advent of the g3.5s. Friendship is Magic, however, restored my interest in ponies and i've enjoyed collecting the g4s and watching the show. I can't wait for the translucent crystal empire ponies to start hitting shelves! I also really enjoy Adventure Time, and have started collecting Monster High dolls as well - the concept is so fun!
