That's how I feel too! After all, a new reboot or remake doesn't take anything away from the original tv show/movie. So a new interpretation of G1 characters doesn't take away anything from the 80's characters we love. It's just a new interpretation! And I think it'll be fun to see how these comic creators represent the characters. Will the G1 ponies be from far in the G4 past? Or the far future? Or an alternate dimension? I can't wait to find out!

^^^thank you for that wording lol (and bekuno, mjnseifer, probably others who mentioned it), i was actually thinking about this sitting at work :P with all the times the comic vs cartoon has come up on this forum over the years, discussing the fact that they both had different characters, rules, whatever, i don't see how this is all that different, especially since we can't say for sure how they'll act - it will be a bit disappointing if theyre near enough 1:1 copies but it's not the end of the world. after all, we aren't being forced into buying these and i hope the writers/artists are enjoying it at least.

i don't think i'll be able to buy these but i'll keep an eye out (also only realised as im about to send that i posted in this thread before with something similar but couldn't find the right way to say it - i do have more to say and a sort of anecdote but i wont ramble on more)

The dance hall was in "Bright Lights" right?

I think if I remember correctly, the cartoon was a bit inconsistent on whether the babies lived in a room in Paradise Estate, or the Lullabye Nursery. I'm sure I remember both of them showing up in the series at different times.. or am I getting mixed up?  :what:
definitely, there's a scene at the beginning of crunch the rockdog where they're in paradise estate, and one in return to tambelon where they're in the lullabye nursery. of course there's probably other examples but those are the ones that come to mind because those were the two episodes i watched most as a kid (i could recite lots of scenes from tambelon word for word years after lol)
though maybe in universe the babies were just split between the two.

probably kimono, because i always think of kimono's townhouse when i see her :P

Why are they including these ponies, instead of the ones from the movie? (Idk if the volcano witches were featured in the original comics or not, sorry in advance.) The art style is cute, I'll give em that much. Looks a bit like Tales though for some reason. I almost thought that was Melody for a moment.
keep in mind that you're only seeing the cover lol, maybe there'll be more inside. it's a bit early to jump on the negativity.
i don't really have an issue with the gen 1 "predecessors" being a thing like some people seem to, it was just laurens preference after all. can't be helped if it leads to misunderstandings from people who dont do research. the comics are usually decent (at least the ones i've read) so we'll see how it goes.

on a positive note, the third cover with the two twilights is adorable :)
I'm positive about this - for one thing it seems to be by someone who grew up with G1 (unless I misread that part) so it's not like they're just throwing in G1s because they think that's what people would want, and they'll at least be trying to be faithful and/or respectful.

I know not everyone here likes the Concept Six being treated as the G1 "Mane Cast", because they weren't - they're just what Lauren would have used, but it kind of makes sense to use them if this is the end of the G4 comic, because, they're basically the G1 ponies that led up to the creation of the Mane Six, so... they've basically gone full circle, or something...?  I dunno, I think it's kind of beautiful.   :lovey:

I also find it a nice touch that they appear to be using Sparkler and Glory (unless I'm misunderstanding the left picture) - Sparkler is the official "Concept Rarity" (i.e. the pony Lauren would have used if she could have used the G1s), but she also got Rarity's design from Glory, so she kind of part of this as well... the unofficial "Concept Seventh" if you like, so if that's what they're doing.
i feel like they wont include both because it'd be unbalanced, it might just be miscommunications from the artists? i'll be pleasantly surprised if they do.

also, anyone else hope that they include other gen references in here too?

Are you in the USA? How much are you asking? Ty
i'm in the UK and i don't really have an idea for prices yet because i want to clean them up as best i can, because the only thing i've done so far is made sure theres no rust or corrosion in the battery compartments of the pieces with batteries.
if you're interested despite that i can probably ship the smaller playsets and misc animals to the USA but definitely not the large ones (house, school, boat, windmill) though i was planning to put them on ebay with UK buying only, regardless of set

37
hi all, i've recently been on a loft expedition and recovered a couple of boxes of sylvanian families toys. i've been planning on selling the playsets by themselves (though figuring out prices is another matter entirely especially since there are a couple of large missing parts :() and was looking for advice on what to do with the other misc parts.
i have a few complete families, but i have a few incomplete or not sure where they came from (i think they're standalone sets that i no longer have accessories for?) and i was wondering if combining them by animal type is a good idea even if they're not the same family?
i also have a lot of misc accessories and i was thinking of dumping all of them in one lot because there's just too many small pieces.
and just to be cheeky and ask one more question, any advice on cleaning? the playsets should be fine with just some scrubbing but what about the animals? im not sure how to clean flocking (and their clothes)

i know there are a few fans here (hopefully this is the right subforum) so any advice would be appreciated  :)

as a kid, i had a few duplicates and was absolutely willing to play with them (usually going the sisters/twins route, i think there was an evil clone plot one time though :P) so many g3 pinkies lol.

i said it in the g5 toys thread but i think pipp's wings are super cute and it makes me think they might introduce a few different styles of wings? i do like that as a design choice even if the novelty toys don't always work as well (poor, poor flutter ponies)

i'm surprised nobody really complained about pipp's phone not being horsey or whatever lol.

I think I remember seeing talk that a lot of bronies have a problem with it for... some reason....
i mean, i guess our traditional idea of a touchscreen isnt very hoof friendly, but i'd expect them to be more open to it? one of the early-early fandom memes was luna with a gameboy, lol
or maybe we're fine because its just a natural evolution of this :P

Pony Corral / Re: your favourite or most interesting/memorable pony dream?
« on: November 01, 2020, 02:22:54 AM »
Those shorts sound cool! I like the idea of a pegasus Up, Up, and Away. I have a lot of vivid dreams, which I frequently remember, so I can share a few...

Oh wow. Where to begin?

Most of my dreams feature toy ponies, usually me going to a thrift store and finding them. Sometimes they're rare ponies (like a whole bowl of piggies), sometimes desired ponies, and sometimes entirely new ponies. There are many outcomes for these scenarios, but usually the ponies aren't for sale despite having price stickers. Sometimes I can't efficiently move toward them, and, after dragging myself over to them, they've turned into fakies and McDonald's ponies. Sometimes I manage to grab them or maybe even buy them, then immediately wake up... I'll usually go about my business for a while before I finally fact-check it and realize it didn't happen. That always sucks.
oh man, i hate those! it's like you get a weird dream slowness or something :P
the other ones are super interesting, it's always weird to have long in depth ones like that!
yes.
they fall into the same categories that everyone has:

1.  Super find of the century.  Putting them in containers to buy, then I wake up.
2.  Super find, but the seller won't sell them to me, then I wake up.
3.  Super find, the seller is mean, I STEAL DEM PONIES, I wake up with no ponies.
4.  Someone ELSE bought all the ponies first!

Once in my dream, in an epic quest to OBTAIN THE PONIES.... I stole a recycling truck and drove it through the yard sale.  Then the robots helped load the truck and we went soaring through the sky on a rainbow of FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM and ponies.  Many ponies.  So many.

Needless to say I was not happy to NOT wake up in the cab of a recycling truck filled with ponies.  And said recycling truck, wherever it was, was never going to be filled with ponies; this yard sale didn't exist, and there were no ponies.  Sad morning.
:( that sounds like the best recycling truck ever ^^
I haven't had that many of them, but earlier this year I had a bizarre dream where I was watching a "lost" episode of My Little Pony Tales that started with a school talent show but then the ponies accidentally set the whole school on fire and then it turned into a live action video of two girls dressed as characters from the show. There was another one way back in the 2000s where I discovered some obscure website that listed extra episodes of the G1 cartoon beyond ep. 65 (it looked kind of like Wikipedia) and it turned out that in one of those episodes I had never heard of before Wind Whistler died.
o_o lost media dreams are always funny, aren't they? they always make me doubt stuff because sometimes lost episodes and such are so vague!!
I had a very bizarre one last night! It involved visiting some strange antique mall with my friends, and there was a vendor there that was selling a one-of-a-kind, twice as fancy, sparkle version of Mimic for like $5. I was so excited to be able to afford such a rare pony, but there was a catch.
You see, it wasn't just an antique mall, it was a roleplay antique mall themed to a fantasy village. In order to enter, you had to create a character and dress up as them, backstory and everything. To make a purchase, you had to perform some sort of heroic feat.
I, of course did not know any of this, as my friends told me we were going to Walmart instead of this antique place. So I decided to smother some evil old woman with a giant purple pillow that I had with me because I was going to return it to Walmart, until she fell off a cliff (I don't even know...). I then laid in the center of the store and let people trample all over me as some form of self-sacrifice.

I then got the Mimic, a transparent, gradient version of Milky Way, and some baby ponies that gradually shrunk so much, I ended up putting them back because they had gotten too small to be worth buying.
I then woke up and was kind of sad. Both that I didn't have these ponies, and that my mind is messed-up enough to have a dream like this.
the sacrifices you have to make for ponies sometimes are amazing :P
Then my girlfriend sat down next to me with this bag full of ponies and said "Hey Shaz, don't stress, look at ponies!" and started taking ponies out of the bag and showing them to me. So that was a cute way to combat the stress until I could safely wake up and remember that I don't have to fret about school/being sent away to residential units any more.
i think this is my favourite part :P ponies are very good stress relief! i wonder if it was an infinite bag of ponies?

Wanted! / ISO: various g3s
« on: October 31, 2020, 06:35:16 AM »
Hi! I'm looking to reunite my childhood G3s. I'd prefer to buy within the UK, but I'm fine with anywhere as long as they're comfortable shipping. Also, I've never bought off the Arena before, so please have patience
I'm not looking for any accessories and I'm not too fussy about condition, but please no major haircuts or large/blatant staining. (eg it's fine if there's marks that are small, or ones that are close to the original colour. I generally display my ponies facing forwards, so the faces and hair being in good condition is most important)
The list:
-Cherry Blossom (preferably walking pose)
-Skywishes - both Ponyville version and brushable version are wanted
-Star Catcher - preferably the version that came with the dancing in the clouds VHS, as long as the wings aren't in too bad a shape (though i know from my memories they're hard to keep decent, so as long as they're actually there it's fine)
-Coconut Grove
-Honolu-loo
-Hidden Treasure
-Twinkle Twirl
-Breezie
-Desert Rose - i'd like if her hair wasn't extremely faded, but i'm not too concerned with it
-Cute Curtsey (the white one)
-Honeydew Hum
-Meadow Moon
-Azalea Bloom
i'm kind of fussy about the conditions of the breezies - please no missing parts! i've seen a few in particularly bad condition so i'm a bit concerned :P

I'm also looking to complete my Ponyville collection! (Sort of. I'm not collecting every variant) However I am not willing to buy them without any of the previously mentioned ponies because they're not currently that high in my priorities.
Spoiler
-Always & Forever
-Fair Weather
-Fantastical February
-Flippity Flop
-Lavender Lake
-Magic Marigold
-Merriweather
-Minty (any version)
-Ribbon Wishes
-Royal Bouquet
-Scootaloo (regular hair version, not the wig version)
-Shenanigans
-Skywishes (aforementioned)
-Toola-Roola 2 (pink with rainbow hair)
-Valenshy
-Wish I May
-Wish I Might
-Yours Truly

I don't have a price guide (I trust people here to not rip me off :P and none of them are particularly rare), and obviously I'm looking to buy them as grouped together as possible. I don't get on the arena much so just in case I don't see an email notification for a PM (not sure if that's a thing here) then my email is available below my profile for a direct line.
Thanks for the help!
These are my brief price checks however:
Spoiler
Cherry Blossom- auction with accessories (Seaside celebration) won for £5.50. Separate BIN price for the same version without accessories sold for £5.80. Both good condition. MIB sold for £11.60.
Skywishes - auction won for £1.70. Good condition. Others also in good condition range from £1-4 both in auction and BINs.
Star Catcher - various auctions won at £1-6. Cheaper ones had damaged wings and discolouration but ones on the upper end were in good condition. One with pristine looking wings was won for £9.
Coconut Grove - Various mint or good condition won in auction for £1-5. No recently completed BINs aside from a MIB for ~£14.
Honolu-loo - Various auctions won ranging from £1-3. A BIN of one in good condition was listed and sold at £3.50, and another at £4.
Hidden Treasure - Fair condition with some scuffs sold for £1.20 at auction. Full accessory set (with a faulty chest) sold for £6.75 at auction, however another one sold for £2, seemed to have worse hair. Great condition pre-owned by a collector sold for £4.50. BINs in good condition average at about £5.
Twinkle Twirl - Auctions without accessories in good condition ended around £1-3. Best condition was won for £3, £1 had missing magnets.
Breezie - Auction with all accessories ended at £6. Good condition auctions average £2-3.
Desert Rose - Poor condition BINs listed at £6-10. American BIN listed for $20, came with one accessory. Seemed dirty but not in awful condition. Faded hair seems to average about £5 sold. Ones with good hair have ranged from $10-20 from American sellers.
Cute Curtsey - One with carriage was won at auction for £4.60. A completely loose one was sold as a BIN at £3.60 and another carriage one was sold at BIN at £6.15
Breezies seem to average about £3-6 in good condition.
Ponyvilles always seem to be sold in lots so it makes it harder to average prices.
These aren't solid guidelines - just what I've gathered from recent auctions :)

Cadance and Sunset are getting toys:
-
Cadie doesn't look right though without 3 color mane (same with Sunset missing her yellow streaks).
Hopefully Glimmy will get one too, and then all 3 of them appear in the show.
nooo, poor cadance :( her hair was so nice
