The "tick tick" of ebay....
« on: March 09, 2012, 05:58:35 AM »
Bagh.  I'm so impatient!  I hate waiting for my auctions to end!  I've got a handful of ponies I'm watching today and my goodness is that timer slow!  And of course I'm trying not to click on my auctions because I don't want the viewing number to go too high and people to get nervous and up their bids...  Then there's deciding which ones to bid on, and what to bid on if you win/lose.

Oh!  Tick faster!  I hate the waiting process...  :drunk:

uhhg YES. Long auctions that I'm seriously interested in make me anxious, too ;P I'm not bidding on any auctions right now, but last Sunday I placed my first order through TaoBao and it's soooo nerve wracking as a n00bie D: okay, not exactly the same thing, but I totally hate the waiting game, especially when ponies are involved! The suspense is killer Dx

I hope no one dives in on the ponies you've got your eye on~ It's SO nice when there's no bidding wars and the price isn't jacked up 3 times the starting bid ;^^

I totally get you! I get so nervous in the hour before an interesting auction ends.
I always bid last minute (unless i'm not able to), because i don't want to drive the price up.
Can't really understand how some people bid when an auction still has 6 days to go :/

Ah, I feel you.

You know what else is just heartwrenching? Watching an auction that has no bids for like a week, and last minute there are tons of bids and the price absolutely skyrockets  :cloud:

Ohhh....I feel the impatience...I was like that with some auctions that ran last weekend - I had built myself up to such a high level of expectation that when I missed out on one of them you would think I had lost a £20 note or something I was so upset! Lol....

My problem with long auctions is I forget to bid....all the time I think I ll check on it...notice its still got another 4 or 5 days and then forget to go back again...cant tell you the amount I have missed out on that way. Its why I only list for 7 days now rather than 10 - I think people remember within a week easier!

Thanks!  The ponies I'm wanting is already past what I thought was normal bids...there's a bidding war going on.  ><  I'm just hoping it doesn't got over the price I'm willing to pay.

Blagh...

Hokuspokus, sometimes I will bid on an item *if* I'm the first person to bid, hoping that no one else will want to bid (depends on the item and price of course) - but often bidders are deterred if there is a bid on a lot and they don't really want to pay more.  Otherwise, if I really want it, I'll wait and try to snipe it. ^-^

That's another reason that sometimes I'll place a low bid...just to get the item in my 'bidding on' folder so it reminds me.  :)

I bid early all the time and personally I dont have an issue with anyone who does this of course - as cloud_weaver says sometimes I do it so I get email reminders! At the end of the day its an auction - whether I bid early or get snipped at the end, a bidding war only happens because more than one person wants something and I dont sign up to the belief that bidding early always means the end price is so much higher...sometimes bidding last minute with a few second to go and loads of people upping their bid in the adrenaline of the moment will cause an auction to go higher than a slow and steady which was high in the first couple of days therefore ended up with fewer watchers and fewer bidders because it was early showing signs of going "out of budget"

6 and half a dozen I think!

Waiting is awful! Especially when you think an auction won't go much higher and it jumps $150! :(

Oh noes!  That's such a bummer...was it a single pony or a lot?

I was only really successful in one of my ebay ventures, but it was totally the only one I had my heart set on.  ^-^  The others were from the same seller and 'box fillers' for overseas shipping.  So I should be just fine!  And I also found another pony I've been looking for in the Nirvana forum...  :lovey:

I can finally breathe again.  Best of luck to all you ebay lurkers!
