I showed this to my hubby and said "this is what I want", and he sort of looked with a blank stare and took a bite of his sandwich

I have invested a lot but probably not as much as newer collectors.  20 years ago, I found ponies regularly at flea markets and garage sales for 10 cents and 25 cents.  I paid $2 for a TAF MIP baby Love Melody for goodness sake!  I remember being hesitate to pay $5 for a MOC pony because that seemed like quite a lot at the time! 

My major investment in recent years was most definitely the cabinets!

New people have varying reactions.  Most don't really understand as I'm sure many here on the Arena can relate to.  My favorite was a coworker and friend of my husband.  He saw the pony room and screamed, literally screamed, and whipped out his cell to send pictures to his twin brother.  Turns out, they collect autographs and he was thrilled to meet another person who had a large collection!  We chatted like old school buddies- my husband was amused by our silliness!

Lol, that's awesome. As my ponies cover a whole wall in my bedroom, I get some surprised comments when people walk in, but no screams yet...
