I like it over the roll too.

If I don't put it on the roll, then Barnabas (my kitty) will destroy it.  (He does the same thing with paper towels).  He will also unroll the roll if I install it the "correct" way, even though there is a toilet paper cover over the roll, AND the trash can is also placed directly underneath.

I guess when you are a cat, you have a lot of free time on your paws to figure out how to work around these tricky situations.

Over the roll is the right and only way. The lid of the toilet must also be kept closed at all times the toilet is not used. Otherwise I'll become really difficult to live with.

shoot i meant to vote underhand xD it used to be over, but my cat learned how much fun it was to spin off an entire roll one morning, so we had to swich to under, no more TP cloud in the bathroom

Lol.  I so don't get people's obsession with this.  I just shove the roll on the holder any old way!  If anyone comes to my house and wants to change it then they are most welcome to - I probably won't even notice

Under as a holdover habit from when we had cats.  When my son was small, this came to mind:

so I just kept hanging it the same way in hopes he was never tempted (he wasn't).

I don't always hang toilet paper but when I do, it's over the roll.

Whoever designed my bathroom should really re-consider.... it takes some real stretching to get to the TP holder, which is about 2 feet away!

Our TP get placed on top of the hamster cage in front of the toilet, so it does not hung whatsoever!
