Impulsive spend...120 ponies later and no money left!

I love love LOVE cleaning up G1 ponies. It's massively satisfying giving them new life when you know they haven't seen daylight for 20 odd years.

I guess that's why I made the crazy decision to buy this lot:

There aren't even that many I want for my collection, but just the idea of cleaning them made it SO worth it. For the most part they'll all in nice condition, just filthy. The only big downside is that they came from a smoker's home...they smell pretty awful. Any tips on how to get the smell out of the plastic? I'm thinking a scrub in bicarb.

There are some rarities among them...can you spot a rather special baby on the top of the pile? I paid roughly £2 a pony, which seemed like a good deal! (even if it amounted to a lot...)

The lovely seller said he thinks their accessories are also in the attic in a separate box, and if he finds them he'll send them on, free of charge!

Now then, off to the spa

I can't believe that Baby Sapphire has her original bracelet! I really hope that her necklace turns up too - fingers crossed the seller finds a box of accessories to accompany these gals.

It is so so satisfying - I very rarely buy ponies that are already clean.

Oh yeah, smokey smell... Baking soda should help with the smell. I usually leave stinky (of any kind) ponies out in my garage for a couple weeks. Just getting some fresh air tends to make a big difference.

Thanks Himmie, that's a good suggestion! Smoke is notorious for lingering, but hopefully with plastic it's easier to tackle

I some friends that smoke, and whenever they come over, our couch ends up smelling like smoke. I use Febreeze on it (after they leave, haha), and the smell comes out completely. I don't know if it works on plastic, but it might help with smells stuck in the hair.

(Just a note - Febreeze isn't safe to use around birds, in case you have pet birds )

Thanks everyone! I'm starting 'the big clean' today, really excited that I have some spare time to bring them back into their glory. A lot of them will be available for rehoming later, so keep your eye out on the sales/auction page
