A great kick-off to flea market season!

So I wandered over to one of the nearby flea markets today, not really expecting to find anything. But lo and behold, I stumbled upon a booth with a bunch of ratty, tangled G3's. I snagged Pinkie Pie II and Goody Gumdrop for $1 each (and they cleaned up wonderfully).

I was about to leave when something caught my eye up on a shelf. It was this beat up old plastic stable, and when I opened the lid, G1 heaven!  Sadly I already had most of the ponies inside, save for two babies, Firefly and Surprise, which I snatched up for $5 a piece. I had to haggle the guy down a bit, he was trying to tell me they were both worth $15 per pony. 

I'm so excited to have found G1's! And such beautiful little ones, too. If this is how this year's flea market season is going to be, I can't wait for the rest of the summer to get here!

How exciting to find a heap of G1s!!! Too bad you already had most of them but at least you managed to snag a few.  It is my pet hate when people think every G1 pony is worth heaps of money btw, so good on you for talking the seller down

I remember someone once saying an antique shop owner claimed that rarity was more important than condition- so an 80s pony covered in ink should of course be worth a ton of money. It seems non-collectors either think that all vintage ponies are really sought after and worth a lot of money, or old junk.

Anyway, congratulations! They're all cute ponies. I can't wait to get out to find ponies this summer.

I know, I think that was this guy's thought process too! He told me he would sell the whole lot for $50 or each pony for $15, which was ridiculous. Especially because they were all dirty and matted. Luckily as soon as I started talking about them I think he knew I was a collector and he backed down right away. Can't fool us.

I'm scared of trying to haggle prices with people. This guy at the market had a whole bunch of fakies priced at $5 + And they were in okay to good condition! Ewww. Grats :3

Congrats on your flea market finds!  That is so awesome that you were able to find some G1s, too!   

I have so many wonderful memories of scouring the flea markets for ponies as a kid....It sounds like I need to get back out there!
