Trimming hair?
« on: July 09, 2013, 05:57:32 PM »
Today I worked on making all of my new fair purchases beautiful for display. Mostly washing hair and cleaning up small marks with a magic eraser. While washing hair I found myself reaching for the scissors to trim a couple of stray hairs at the end of the ponies mane/tail. What is everyones thought s about trimming these few stray hairs sothe hair is all even? Is this a no no? Should I make note of who needed a trim? Or does it not really matter? Was just curious of what other peoples thoughts are on this :)

I trim stray ends simply because I've noticed that sometimes the strays make the hair hang funny.  I'm sort of obsessive about things being even, as well, so it drives me crazy if I know they're there....

I do it if there are a few random hairs way longer than the rest.

I always trim those long hairs.
Even if the pony I was cleaning was a perfect 100% mint nirvana variant Mimic,  I'd still trim if she had a few hairs longer then the others.

This thread makes me feel so much better about the fact that I do this too.

I'd really rather have the pony as mint as possible, and as long as it isn't really noticeable I see no problem with it.

I do this, too. No reason to leave just a few pulled/stretched hairs sticking out and looking terrible. ;)

I wanted to do this too. I hate straggly hair just sticking out so I grab some scissors and carefully snip. I don't think it would be noticeable.

I always feel a mighty need to trim those longer hairs. Although if it's the tail I sometimes tug around at it a little if it seems lopsided in length, sometimes the tail just sits awkwardly inside the pony making a few hairs seem really long. If I can't straighten it out, then it's time for Mr. Scissors.

Over the years brushing and some hair loose in the tail washer can cause some strands to sit longer than the rest of the tail/mane. While I dont trim them away personally, I completely understand that some people would and think I am probably in the minority in this than the majority. You are not actually affecting the original length just trimming away what has become longer than the original length...no harm in that!

Sometimes I will trim it or just brush the loose strands out.
