Right now I don't do my own makeup, only because one of the other girls has the materials needed. But I will be buying my own stuff so that I do not have to rely on her. (she makes me late to stuff)

The tail is just awesome, and your top turned out great too! I read you had a hard time with those other girls and it's great to see such a big grin on your face after all that trouble!  ^.^

How cool! Those tails look so awesome. It's too bad they're so heavy, it would be amusing to see mermaids being wheelbarrowed in and out. :D Congrats on getting that job! I wish my renaissance fair had mermaids.

It is not so much the weight, but the way it is dispersed. I end up being 140lbs in mine, but 20-25 of that is in the fin, and the fin has to be supported to keep from pulling, so it is mainly awkward. A wheelbarrow would be great fun! But Rex (our boss) says no for now.

I kinda want to see if she will let us be in the parade one day.

I'm really curious: how were the tails made? I know there are some online shops that specialize in them, but were yours custom built by other ren faire people?

They were custom built by professionals for the three of us :) However, I do not personally care for them or their work ethic, so I would not recommend them. (things they said to, and about, people, and the way they conducted themselves while they were in state on business on someone else's dime.)

Boo! A friend of mine desperately wants to one day have a mermaid tail, so I'm sort of hoarding resources for her. A shame they were buttfaces about it. :(

They are crazy pricey, no matter who you get them from, but if you (she) wants a silicone tail like mine, check out merbellas :) Their work is stunning and beautiful. I would love to have one. (fabric/silicone hybrids are also a more affordable option)
