Ty Beanie Babies
« on: May 15, 2012, 10:35:17 AM »
Hello all!  Please feel free to move this if it's not supposed to be here, I wasn't 100% sure.

To make a long story short, my mother is cleaning out some storage, my sister has a large number of older beanie babies in really good shape.  She literally bought them and stuck them on a shelf where they've been ever since.  I was wondering if anybody would know of a forum similar to here for beanie baby collectors.  I would really appreciate any help!  If nothing else, I'll probably post them on ebay and wish for the best.  My mother should be getting to me soon with a list of which ones she has.

I'm not sure of a beanie baby forum but I'm pretty sure we have a few collectors here and they might know. Good luck!

ty.com still has a board I believe - but most all beanies have bottomed out completely.  The only ones that are still worth a little are the old old ones (old face/new face teddies, web, humphrey, etc) and even then if you want to make some $$$ on them you need to have them authenticated.  Otherwise the best way to get rid of them is garage sales - $1 a piece.  =/  Sorry!  I totally know how it goes though...I was a huge collector and then the value dropped out on all of them.  :drunk:

*edit*  I stand corrected...it appears ty.com no longer has a trading board...I'm looking though...

Thanks for the advice!  I know they've pretty much dropped out in value, but anything we can get to help pay for my sister's wedding would be awesome.

I have quite a few beanies myself that I want to get rid of but with the prices being so low, Its not even worth it to me to sell them.  I do wish you luck on the sales though.  There are still a couple out there that I would love to get my hands on.  ;)

I have two large plastic tubs full of them. I don't think they are even worth the hassle to try and sell, unless you were having a yard sale and just stuck them out with it. It sucks cause my family and I invested hundreds of dollars into those things.
I don't know of anyone who is still actively collecting them. There used to be many site and forums but they all died I guess.

The only reason I still have my entire collection is because most of them were bought with my Great Grandma... it was like, our little hobby together.  We spent SO much money on them together and now they are worth nothing... but I guess that's ok to me... for now haha.  Maybe SOMEDAY they will go back up in value... what?  I can dream can't I?  :D

That is exactly my story too   Beanie Babies were mine and my Grandfather's thing. He would buy them for me all the time and in the end I have just bins and bins full of them. I feel bad just giving them away because they're sentimental but they're also taking up a lot of space. I know that at the time he was hoping in the long run they would be worth something but it sucks they don't   I'm with you on the waiting until they hopefully go up in value idea ;)

Like others have said, your best bet would be to put them out at a garage sale or the like!
I had a few myself, though I only picked up the ones that I liked. The only one I have that's worth anything is Loong the Dragon :P

I kinda hate the Beanie Boos though. They're just ripping off Yoohoo & Friends :/ But eh, that's going off topic. Best of luck!

I used to work in a beanie baby store!

I hope that you find a good home for them!
