Ever since this new wave of "pony madness" hit me... I've been running around like a wild woman trying to decide just how & what I wanted to collect.
Initially I had the urge to collect anything and everything... but I quickly began to narrow that down.
It didn't take me too long... to narrow my goals to a few odd ponies that I didn't have as a kid (but always wanted), and... to aim for those "mommy" and "baby" pairs!
Personally... I find this goal interesting, because... "mare & foal" pairs... are exactly what my main collection (model horses) boiled down to! It didn't take long for that collection, to influence my MLP collecting!
Anyway! On to the pony pics!
I'm so happy to finally get these babies photographed, and share them!
First up... The only "mommy" & "baby" pair from my childhood herd... Mommy & Baby Heart Throb! Of course, now that I know she exists... I'm still on the hunt for NBBE Baby Heart Throb!

I THINK she was my very first MLP (my memory is rather fuzzy as to when I got her...) I never did have her baby as a kid... but I managed to get one in a lot... and she was so nice... (with PINK hair!) that I couldn't help but keep her!

login And of course... Bowtie. I think "Mommy" Bowtie was possibly my 2nd pony after Cotton Candy (tho not the one pictured. This gal was a Goodwill find.
). My original gal suffered at my 4 yr old hands.... and now sports a buzz cut, and is missing her tail (apparently, my one act of rebellion against my "new" baby sister...
). I had no idea she had a baby... and I was so excited to find her, and bring her home!

login For whatever reason... Applejack was NEVER a part of my Childhood herd.
No idea why... I know I always wanted her... So one of my first projects when I started collecting again, was to finally aquire her! And of course, when I discovered her baby... I had to find her too!

login Yet another pony... that I loved because of the TV series, but somehow NEVER had as a kid! Mommy & Baby Firefly!
It still amazes me how many "standard" MLPs never made it into my childhood herd...

login And this gal... was one of the few babies I DID have as a kid! I always LOVED my Baby Surprize! She and Baby Cuddles were among my favs! Now... I finally have her "momma"!!!

login And now... on to my first love.... UNICORNS!
As a kid... The Unicorns were my favs! But for some STRANGE reason (one that I doubt I'll ever really understand...), I had very few of them. At least, very few of the "original" characters. I never had Glory, or Moondancer... and I'm still lacking Sparkler & Twilight.
AND... the main shocker... I NEVER... EVER had any of the "Baby Glory" pose unicorns. NONE of them
I only ever had my BBE Baby Frosting. I never even had BBE Baby Gusty, or Baby Ribbon (tho I ALWAYS wanted them... BADLY...)
I think... a big driving force of my "collecting" now... is making up for that lost time, and FINALLY adding those Baby Unicorns that I always wanted to my herd!

They match... just not as "perfectly" as some other pairs.
But hey! You've gotta admit that they still work nicely together!

login And lastly... two pairs that have me REALLY excited! Mostly because I put HOURS upon HOURS into deflocking them!
Why Hasbro only offered Ribbon as a So-Soft Pony... I will never understand... because she is STUNNING without her nasty flock!

login Lastly... a complete surprise...
I never liked Shady as a kid... Her colorscheme is just so... garish!
But after I ended up with a truly LOVELY BBE Baby Shady in a lot... I couldn't help but keep her. Then... I found a rather nasty SS Shady with a haircut... i decided to deflock her... and keep her since I already had her baby.
Boy I'm glad I did!
Garish they may be... but in a lot of ways... they sorta embody the "80s" too.
So they get to stick around!

The results of my last few months of rather "active" collecting!
I really need to put a shelf up, so these gals can quit sharing a shelf with my books in the hallway...
I'm still looking for a few Mommy/Baby pairs... like Baby Quackers... And TAF Baby Up, Up & Away (but god only knows how long it will be before I can afford her!
). I'm also currently deflocking a SS Northstar to go with my Baby Northstar...
But I've certainly managed to aquire the "most wanted" of my pairs...
And I've had a ton of fun doing it!
