Pony Corral / Re: What details would you like to see in G5?
« on: June 04, 2016, 04:24:18 AM »
More yellow ponies, green too.  Boys, sea ponies, gimicky ponies like we saw in the last few years of G1.  Different combs with different sets of ponies, more accessories and better playsets.  G1 basically, which is not shocking considering its nostalgic value for me.

Speaking of pinkie pies as construction material... If we ever get a My Little Pony museum let's use Pinkie Pies to build it.  Everyone can send in their extras like American kids sent in their pennies to build the base of the Statue of Liberty XD

In all seriousness though I don't really care what Hasbro does next as long as they are more durable than G4 has been.  Many of my daughters ponies are already breaking down and it's only been a few years.  Hair is brittle and falling apart, plasticizer leakage, discoloration.  It's crazy.  It would be nice if they made toys people could save to share with future little ones.

I think the strangest place is my desk at work.  Mostly they are confined to boxes in the new pony room waiting for me to get shelves set up.

I definitely think the majority of stains are probably not mold related- especially saddle sores, regrind and probably pony cancer.  I think the patterning we are seeing is characteristic of some stains I have found on ponies though.

First post updated with cleaning results and examination under microscope.

Pony Corral / Re: Which G3s are soft liike G1s?
« on: May 28, 2016, 04:41:01 AM »
I think the squishiness or hardness of a particular G3 depends in part on the conditions it was stored in.  Ponies that are kept in hot or even quickly varying temps tend to experience more plasticizer breakdown and become very hard overtime.  Even ponies that were once relatively soft can become really hard after being boiled to help remove the glue that holds the mane in.

Hey All,

Good news- we finally got a house!  Bad news, the pony room is much smaller than I'd hoped it would be so I may need to downsize my collection a bit.  I'll be putting some more ponies up over the next few days but for now I'm taking offers on my one of a kind Aussie Plush Sweetberry.  This plush was made as a sample by the production company but was not actually put into production.  She looks JUST like the huge Sweetberry plush but is the same size as the backpack/slumberparty plushes.  Here are photos including one next to Pinkie Pie for comparison.

Thanks! I think it's pretty interesting too, though I feel bad for the ponies.  I keep telling myself it's okay because I will clean them and turn them into awesome science based customs  I think I'm going to try to remove the mold from the swab + internal no H2O added Majesty today or tomorrow and see if it leaves marks.  I'll let the other Majesty and the rest of them go for another 5 or 6 months I think.

See first post for update!  We've got some crazy mold going on!

I use fishing weights, the heaviest weight possible held in place with apoxie so they don't rattle around or shift.  In this pony I put them in the two front legs and also filled the head with them.  They are lead weights so they won't rust thankfully.

Thank's everyone.   In the past, the wings I've made have always been more horizontal and front facing so they haven't need to be weighted.  I was really worried with this custom that I would not be able to get enough weight in the body and head to counteract the massive wings but luckily it worked out okay.  Her body repaint was made with a custom color mix of airbrush paints.  This is the first time I've used airbrush paint for the body repaint and I really liked the smooth flow of it.  I don't like to use an airbrush but even with paintbrush, the paint is so thin and flowing that it goes on super smooth.  The only thing I didn't like about it vs. standard acrylic diluted with water is that it doesn't seem to grip the plastic as well and I felt like I needed even more layers of it.  I think it was worth the extra time for the smooth effect though.

Customs / Shadow Whispers OC Commission for Tak

Shadow Whispers is Tak's original character that she commissioned me to make.  She had an idea of what she wanted in terms of character design and colors and we worked together on the specifics of the symbol design.  She wanted a unicorn with apoxie sculpted wings and ultimately decided on a diva pose.  Here is a watercolor sketch I made for her during the initial design process:

She ultimately decided on a combination of symbols and I think the result is really stunning:

I made a little tiara to go with her as a little bonus.  The pony stands on her own without a base because she is carefully weighted in her body and head to counteract the weight of the wings.  Thanks for looking and thanks for Tak for being a super awesome person to work with and very patient as I worked to get those ginormous wings perfect!

Hi All,

I have two auctions for very hard to find accessories running currently and may put up more over the weekend.  Thus far I have:

Rapunzel's Comb: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161990258806?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Two Purple Goblets from the Lavender Dream Castle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161990262978?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
***Please keep in mind that one of the goblets in this auction has been chewed (of all the accesories to chew on omg!) so it is not in perfect condition.  Both goblets display well though and would make a good addition to any Lavender Dream Castle lacking them :D

Very nice restore by PKW!  It looks like she air-brushed the eyes on to give them a really authentic look.  Congrats on her and having her so well restored!
