Pony Brag Arena / Anti-haul: gave away 100+ blind bags
« on: November 16, 2019, 04:18:51 PM »
Hi folks--it's been a couple years since I last posted here! My blind bag collection has been languishing for a while now, with no new additions since 2015, a time when I was gradually transitioning into caring more about brushables instead. And then all the molds got replaced because of the movie and I lost interest altogether. I've sold a few since then, but there were always just so many blind bags to process, mostly acquired one by one individually, that putting them all on eBay always seemed like too time-consuming an endeavor and so nothing ever happened.

Today I took almost all of them to a local "free market" (like a flea market but everything is free), and happily watched for the next three hours as they all found new homes. Most were taken by adults getting presents for their daughters or granddaughters, though there was an elementary school teacher who took a lot of them to give to her students as prizes for good behavior, and a 20-something woman who seemed enchanted by each new name I told her (particularly Sassaflash), and another young woman who was actually familiar with the characters and really liked Trixie. The best, though, was a maybe 5-year-old girl who kept taking a few, asking me what they were called, giving them to her parents to hold onto, wandering off, then returning some minutes later to take a few more. At one point her father had his hands overflowing with ponies and ended up transferring a lot into his shirt pocket.

So yeah! It was a really fun time, and I hope they all go to good homes that give them more attention than I've managed to provide of late. And I kept most of the mane 6, and all my Minuette figures, and most of my prototypes and all my fakies. They may or may not be kept forever but I think I deserve a break now. :)

What is even going on anymore? I mean, obviously they're all unicorns, but why the bowties?

(Hi Skywishes!)

Some pictures from Taobao:

There seem to be two different Celestias--one who looks like the released Sparkle Bright version, and one who doesn't. If anything the other one looks like she might glow in the dark or something. What is this?

Pony Brag Arena / Fakies (filly-sized or above)

Past #1, #2

Captions in imgur album. Seventeen new girls came in yesterday, so this seemed like a good time to sort fakies by character and take some photos. I left out all the blind-bag sized ones and the keychains to save time.

Putting up another round of auctions, some new, some used, some rare. I also have a massive number of blind bags, most of whom aren't on eBay right at the moment but all of whom are for sale, so if there's anyone you're after please check out that list and see if I've got them or you. :)

Pony Corral / Concerned Pony had a baby :)
« on: July 05, 2016, 10:07:57 PM »
We are all by now familiar with Concerned Pony, I trust? The ever-miserable blue fakie and her less-popular orange palette swap? Perhaps, if you are very good, you have even seen this picture of her elusive glow-in-the-dark release?

Well, apparently there's a baby now!

And where did this baby come from? Obviously G1 ponies are born from eggs, but surely things have changed a bit between generations, right?

...I guess not.

I don't recognize this one. Possibly a fakie--they seem to enjoy making Lunas--but she looks really good.

Pony Corral / Anyone want an $8 alicorn Rarity fakie?

So these girls just turned up on aliexpress. (Can't link, but they should be really easy to find.) They claim to be 8cm, but their heads look kind of like styling size heads. The quality of Dash and Twilight's cutie marks suggests to me that they're fakies, plus Dash's hair is all red and orange and yellow.

Oh, and Rarity is an alicorn apparently!

I want! But currently the smallest quantity they're sold in is $80 for ten sets of four ponies, or $8 per set. So I'm just curious if there's anyone else--or more specifically, nine other people--who'd be interested enough in four weird 8cm fakies for two bucks apiece plus shipping, including an AliRarity, that this would be a successful purchase. I'm guessing probably not--the other three don't honestly look very interesting--but I might as well ask.

Links to Auctiva galleries for larger pictures from more angles: Pinkie, Fluttershy

What are we looking at here? More Target exclusives, maybe, given the resemblance to the Power Pony releases? But I don't seem to recognize either of these outfits from the show. Pinkie looks kind of businessy, and Fluttershy is... a swim instructor, maybe?

Also interesting is that they both have the same lighting bolt symbol. Fluttershy's is obvious--it's on her rear hooves--but you have to look carefully to notice the one on Pinkie's necktie. Hmmm.

(For the record, I am not loving those colors on Fluttershy, but Pinkie is kind of cute dressed up all formal. Yes, yes, obviously they should be fabric clothes, let's move on.)

Past brags

They're so big! I still don't have Cadance, though. (Which is apparently normal... I'm not sure I have a brusahble Cadance in any size.) And I tried to get the fakie Luna styling size but the package was lost in shipping. :(

(I've actually got a second Applejack in this size too, if anyone in the US is still looking for one. :) PM me with offer if interested I guess, or eventually she'll make her way over to eBay)

Pony Corral / Toys R Us MLP/LPS Pet Swap event, sale
« on: March 12, 2016, 01:42:01 PM »
All info here
Apparently TRU is having an event next weekend for people to bring in their MLP and Littlest Pet Shop toys and swap them with others (probably just with other collectors, not the store itself, but I'm not sure). There's also some free merchandise, an exclusive LPS figure, and a $5 coupon. In the meantime they'll be running a BOGO 40% off sale all week, which has already started online.

Sounds interesting. I'm curious what kind of demographics would show up, though I'm not sure yet if I'm curious enough to go find out for myself. It does say "intended for children" in a footnote. Your thoughts?

Fakies continue to expand into the larger body molds. We recently saw a whole line of Ponymania Fashion Styles, which were very cool, and a set of six Styling Size ponies with completely non-canon color schemes and cutie marks. These four are a little less exciting in that respect, being mostly based on Through The Mirror toys (except for Cadance, who's just based on her most recent Fashion Style release), but the fact that they all come in Fashion Style and Styling Size variations is very neat!

Trader & Shipping Support / Help me understand "Or Best Offer" (eBay)
« on: November 07, 2015, 11:33:30 PM »
I mean, I understand the basic mechanics of it, though I wish there were some way to look at completed listings and see how much they went for, for price checking purposes. And I'm still not convinced I'm not supposed to pay in oboes. But what's the motivation behind using it? Why list something as OBO instead of auction or fixed price?

Alternative question: how low do you go? When I see an OBO listing it seems like it's usually for at least twice what I'd want to pay, but I rather doubt the seller would be okay with that. What kind of range do you usually have in mind if and when you use this option?

Hi all! I've got the house free to myself for a bit in a few weeks and am looking to have a fun playful time of it. :) I tried this two years ago but nobody responded, so... trying again! Are you anywhere near Santa Cruz? You should come over! At noon!

I've got a bunch of games, from your basic Chess/Risk/Scrabble/Settlers of Catan up through Alhambra, Dominion, Carcassonne, Tichu, Puerto Rico, and plenty more, plus various quicker games like Category 5, Quarto, and even Fluxx and Uno. Come over and play stuff! Even if you're not an experienced gamer at all, there's sure to be something right for your skill level that pertains to your interests.

Or if that doesn't completely appeal to you, play with ponies instead! I've got a bunch of ponies too and lots of them are dying for some good roleplaying or at least hairbrushing. Reenact episodes or tell all-new stories. Want to pick out your favorite pony and build her an elaborate fortress? I've got blocks and legos.

Or... combine the two! Who knows how many games could use blind bags as player pieces? I'm guessing a lot of them. Whatever you feel like doing, there's sure to be a way, so come on down. Ask if I've already got a game you want to play before bringing it yourself. Bring money if you plan on trying to buy or sell ponies. Tell me your dietary preferences if you want to be fed. And of course tell me you're coming if you want this to happen at all.
