As did several other pre-sapien hominids.  Researchers believe the reason Neanderthals died out ( or interbred ) was because increased cranial capacity and skull size combined with a longer gestation period from archaic and modern homo sapiens meant increased infant and mother mortality rates.  Thus, us and our ancestors likely became the dominant hominids not because we were smarter, but rather because we out bred every other species.

and a cashew is not a nut.  Rather, it's much closely related to a mango.  The cashew nut is not even the fruit of the plant but a pseudofruit.  Also the shell is poisonous.  Which is why cashews are always sold shelled.

and an almond?  Nope.  It's a fruit.  The almond comes from a poisonous peach.  More or less.  Peach pits are like poisonous almonds, though some are declared edible or mostly.
