Pony Corral / Anyone have a pic of Megan's Place brush?
« on: August 13, 2017, 08:57:11 PM »
Hi all!

I picked up a Megan's Place in box over the weekend... box and contents are absolutely filthy and it looks like something with teeth was nibbling on bits and pieces. It came with the blue heart brush but it's missing the handle (bitten off by some sort of wildlife) - was just wondering what its supposed to look like.

Thanks!

Anyone ever been? Is it good? Does it focus on the original line or more of the new integrity collection?

Im familiar with the area (Albany NY) and the hotel that its in is pretty small, so I was wondering if the  price of admission was worth the number of vendors selling and the diversity of panels... Any info you guys have would be super appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Pony Corral / A few G1 accessory questions...
« on: July 12, 2016, 08:22:44 PM »
So I am officially obsessed with G1 accessories. It's been creeping up on my for years, but now the obsession is full blown. So, just a few questions...

1. Are the star panties with the first tooth babies the same as the party pack panties?

2. How many different variations are there in the letter blocks that came with lullabye nursery?

3. Is the nail polish and lipstick from perfume playset the same as the moc bng pony accessories?

4. Other than more or less glitter, is there any other way ( color difference?) to determine whether or not it's a princess comb or a shs comb?

Thanks !!!!

Pony Corral / G1 ... How many ponies?
« on: July 03, 2016, 08:42:53 PM »
Trying to get a rough idea of what I'm in for... How many regular US issue ponies were available? I've heard 600?

How many mail order US ponies available?

How many unique UK ponies released?

How many unique European (continent) ponies released?

Not worried about nirvanas now bc I can't afford them but any other info from collectors would be amazing!!!!

I'm not including variants, but if you have a random number on those that would be fantastic also!

Thank you so much!

Pony Corral / G1 back cards and playset boxes...
« on: June 22, 2016, 09:19:00 PM »
So I was at an antique mall last weekend and randomly saw a few g1s in gallon ziplock baggies with their backcards (fizzy, moonstone, ss hearthrob). I squealed and I'm sure people looked at me be I NEVER find g1s thrifting, at yard sales, goodwill... Well maybe a peachy or two but that's it!

Ponies were in pretty good condition ( tho they were in need of the salon! Seriously) but the back cards were a bit rough. Still display worthy but maybe a 5 out of 10.

I know nothing of mib g1 Mocs nrfbs or back cards... I bought heart throb bc she was one of my childhood ponies. Her card is beautiful to me and I love having it in my collection now but it got me thinking about original g1 packaging.

Is there a general price guide for empty playset boxes and back cards for ponies and pony wear? Do people want to buy them? Is it about the box/card art or completing a pony or playset with all accessories and the packaging to match?

I know all collectors are different so I'm curious to hear your views on original g1 pony packaging... Do you collect it? Do you only buy moc/nrfb? What are your criteria for backcards... Are price tags ok? Bending and folds? Sun damage? Yellowed bubbles?

Price Check Archives / PC Complete g1 show stable
« on: May 30, 2016, 07:11:36 PM »
Hi all!

How much should I pay for a complete show stable with no box? All accessories are there, plastic isn't yellowed hardly at all, all stickers are there and not peeling. No Brandy.

I normally don't do playsets but this one has all the bits and bobs and everything looks to be in pretty nice condition. I know this one is really common, just don't want to overpay.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Pony Corral / Pony salon question!!
« on: October 23, 2013, 12:31:52 PM »
So I was lucky to win a few G1 lots of ponies on ebay. Super happy, but also, major problem for a minty pony collector who has little to no experience taking these girls to the pony salon.

Just couldn't pass up a good deal on ponies I needed. BUT, how on earth do you straighten out a pony's hair after it's been braided for, probably, I don't know, 20 years?

Pony salon experts please help! How do you help pony hair? Bodies are minty but hair is nasty... it's braided, frizzy, knotted... what should I do?

Thanks!

Pony Corral / Cleaning ponies: long-term effects of using...
« on: September 05, 2013, 07:35:21 AM »
...magic erasers?

I've used them for years to take off stubborn stray marks (avoiding eyes, blush and cutie/taf marks etc...), and have never noticed any damage to the plastic over time.

But i like to worry  Has anyone noticed any bad long-term effects of using magic erasers to clean ponies? Yellowed plastic? Uneven body color? Something random and nasty?

Pony Corral / Need advice on storing ponies
« on: July 24, 2013, 05:53:49 PM »
So we'll be doing quite a bit of renovation on our home for the next month, and all the ponies need to be packed up for their own protection.

All of my NRFB/MOC's are easy enough to store, though the number of giant plastic bins is kind of insane.

My question is... how would you pack away your loose G1's? Most are from my permanent collection and have all been cleaned and sent to the salon. Some are from the fair/swaps/finds... and I haven't had the chance to give them a proper once-over yet.

Would you put them in individual plastic baggies? Tissue paper? Bubble wrap? Toss 'em all in a bin and hope for the best?

I think I'll separate the cleaned ones from the thrift finds... I would hate for something to spread mold or something nasty.

Any advice would be great!! (oh, and once stored they'll all be in a climate controlled environment)   :)

Pony Corral / G1 Magnets?
« on: July 15, 2013, 06:09:38 AM »
Does anyone remember/have pics of a G1 magnet playset? I had this as a child and I can't seem to find one anywhere...

It was a magnet board that folded out (in thirds, I think) to about the size of a typical board game. The board itself was a picture of Dream Valley, green hills, sunny sky, maybe some trees and a river.

There were a number of magnets that came with the board ~ early G1 ponies, butterflies, I don't really remember much else.

Does anyone have this? Oh, also, my brother had the same playset, except his was He-Man Masters of the Universe.

Trader & Shipping Support / Reverse Image Search
« on: February 25, 2013, 06:37:36 PM »
I just saw the stolen Ebay photos thread and I wanted to post this. Mods, please feel free to merge this post with the other thread, I just though this could be of use to everyone buying and selling online :)

Whenever I see a pic on a website or an online auction that seems somehow 'familiar' I always use this site to verify my suspicions.

First, find an image you would like to research (an online auction, a website image, pic from a blog etc...)

For PC users, right click on the image. Select the 'view image' option. The image URL will appear in the address bar. Copy it.

For mac users, control + click on the image and select the 'view image option'. The image URL will appear in the address bar. Copy it.

Open a second window and go to www.tineye.com  ... paste the URL under the words 'Enter image address' and click search.

The website will then search the entire internet, looking for the photo you requested. It will then let you know if this is a unique image ( '0' images found) or an image that has been previously uploaded from another website ( '1' or '3' or '10' images found, etc...).

The website will then give you the URL(s) to the original site where the pic was uploaded.

I find this is a great way to verify pics, especially in overseas auctions. I hope you find this helpful!

Pony Corral / Happy to have ponies!
« on: February 19, 2013, 09:58:37 PM »
Kind of silly, I suppose... but would like to describe why I'm happy to have my ponies in my life. We buy, we sell, we bid, we swap, we trade, we customize, we pack them away and only display a few (but we know we have TONS in storage) ... I'd just like to celebrate why we love these beauties.

I'm a child of the 80's, so for me (along with my beloved Jem dolls) ponies ARE my childhood. A pink, fluffy, rainbow colored strawberry scented vision of my youth. I love ponies because they remind me of a time that was so simple, so beautiful, so... 80's!

A time of Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Bon Jovi, the Madonna True Blue album, Garbage Pail Kids cards, trolls, Super Mario Bros., Link: the Legend of Zelda and Tetris on the original (yes, THE original) nintendo, popples, care bears, charmkins, and all of the wonderful things the toys and sounds of the 80's had to offer.

Just wondering... why do you love your ponies? What memories do you have of your first ponies? I know we're not all G1 collectors that have continued to collect through the years, so please, all gens welcome!!!

Why do YOU love your ponies? What is it about them that makes you want oh so many more? Forgive my curiosity, just love the psychology behind it all  ;)

Pony Corral / How many ponies were issued?
« on: February 11, 2013, 06:47:03 PM »
Just a curiosity, but does anyone know how many ponies were issued from a specific generation or set in any given country? Like, say, how many G1 Cherries Jubilee were issued in the US? Or how many G3 Winter Snows were issued in the UK/Europe?

Of course we know certain sets had a more limited run... like the second sets of the G1 TAF's and twinkle eyes, or so many of the ponies that were issued during the final year/months of a specific generation - but do we have an idea of 'how' limited?

There is probably no way to truly know the stats, but I was just curious as to whether or not anyone had any concrete numbers. Thoughts?
