Two interesting finds from an antique store..

So in my town, there are never any G1 My Little Ponies at second-hand stores.  I've just come to accept it as a fact lately.  However, when I went to an antique store yesterday, I found a Moon Dreamer toy, Ursa, that was labeled "Bear Squeaky Toy".  YIKES.  It doesn't even squeak!  She was dirty, but cleaned up well.   

Today I went to another antique store and found an old "My Pretty Pony."  She was in super rough shape with some weird white soap-like crap coating both eyes.  I spent four hours cleaning her up.  Here's some pictures!   :biggrin:

Thanks for looking at my pictures!  I'm kind of proud that she came out looking better.  Her hair is still really, really dry and straw like.  Any ideas how to get it back into good shape?  I sprayed in some of my leave in conditioner, but it didn't seem to help much.  It made it shiny, but not soft.

Awww My Pretty Pony!! She looks amazing now that you cleaned her up, and the bear too! Congrats on your finds, glad you could rescue them! :biggrin:

Ursa Major from Moondreamers.  I know leaving conditioner in works well, but not sure if it does for this girl.  Great finds!

OH!  Thanks for the name correction - I didn't know it was "Ursa Major".  I've just seen her listed around Ebay as Ursa.  I need to read up on Moon Dreamers more.  They're pretty cute!  And I noticed My Pretty Pony has some weird hair.. not like pony hair.  It's way thicker and coarse.  I took a chance with the conditioner.  I may try fabric softener next.  Not sure if it would help either though.

LOL!  Cataracts!  She totally had some going on.  I still can't figure out what that stuff was.  It was almost like someone intentionally smashed it into her eyes.  Maybe she went into a bath tub at some point, and it really was melted soap!  oh, the horror!  Poor pony!

My Pretty Pony has really coarse hair, more like horse hair... so it probably won't ever feel as soft as your regular MLPs, just FYI. It looks like it's already in great shape!

Ohhh, okay.  I kinda figured since it was a totally different material that it may not be able to even GET any softer.  Now I guess I have to find the My Pretty Peachy to go with her!

WOW great find and so starnge I found my preety pony last week and she also had white stuff on her eyes but she cleaned up as well hhhhhhmmmmm WHO KNOWS but great find and CONGRATS!!!!!!

Great cleanup!  How in the world did you even get a comb through her hair? I am at this moment trying to get through the rats nest on mine that she came with from a rummage sale. Her mane is also starting to come out at the forelock and I have been trying to stuff it back in.

Anyway, I would love to know what you did, even the type of comb because I feel like I am barely getting anywhere and that I am pulling way too much hair out.

Great job on cleaning up that pretty pony! She looks awesome! From the pics, it almost looks like it was caked on battery acid *yuck* Glad it came off for you and she spiffed up so well!
