She's not new to me (I've had her since I was a girl), but I haven't seen her in years. She was in storage with the rest of my herd. I just dug her out and gave her a bath, though, so I thought that might be worthy of a share. She cleaned up nicely, eh? visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Congratulations!! It's always exciting to win something, especially when it's something you've really wanted.

Ah. Thanks for the tip. I'll stick to just plain sun.

I haven't ruled out the possibility of customizing her. I'd like to try the sunfading to at least see how it comes out. I'm already thinking of repainting her symbols in another color (since they have faded to white) and/or giving her an alternate hair color.

OK. I'll try sunfading her a bit. She has some plugs missing from her mane, as well as the cut forelock, so I'd probably end up replacing all of it.
Thanks for the suggestions!!

When you say, "sunfade her to...reduce yellowing," do you mean the discoloration of her head? Would I need to put anything on her first, or just stick her in the sun? I know that sunfading for pen mark removal involves putting Clearasil or something on the marks first.
Her bows have faded to white, but I don't think it would be difficult to recolor them. Her forelock has been cut, so at least that much of her hair would have to be replaced.

This sad Bowtie was given to me by a classmate many, many years ago. I'm not particularly attached to her (I have another Bowtie in better condition), but I don't really want to just chuck her, either. What would you do? Obviously, mane and tail could be replaced, and the scribbled replacement "tail" might possibly be sunfaded. What about the mismatched/discolored head? Is it even worth it to try to salvage her? visitors can't see pics , please register or login visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginYour thoughts?

Oh, I'm planning to share pictures at some point. I'm taking before and after shots while I work on them. Most of them are just dirty, but I'm going to re-glitter a few symbols and maybe do some re-hairing sometime. I already have my SS Sundance partially deflocked, because she was just grimy and bald in a few places, anyway. I'm having a lot of fun seeing their lovely colors come out from under all the dirt.

Welcome!! I'm new here, too, and I also live in the PNW. If and when you get around to deciding which G1 Ponies you're going to let go, I'd love to know. Have fun!!

I've had her since I was a child. She's part of the herd waiting to be cleaned up and prettified.

After eagerly awaiting account approval for the past few days, I'm so excited to be here!! My collection of Ponies is all G1 (most of which I acquired while they were current) with the exception of one G3 and two G4s. I recently pulled out my box and began cleaning and restoring them. I'd like to add to my collection, but I think I'll get the ones I have in shape before I actively pursue that. Anyway, I need to get ready for a prenatal appointment (baby #3 is on the way), so I'll have to run for now. Looking forward to meeting all of you!!
