Customs / Retro Dolls Matching
« on: August 27, 2017, 02:48:26 AM »
Since I can't order from the US does anyone know what DollyHair colours match up with the Retro Dolls colours?
The names are all different and I'm trying to find a match for the Heartthrob shade.

TIA :)

Introductions / I'm back!
« on: July 11, 2017, 01:45:10 AM »
I don't know if anyone remembers me but after a long leave of absence I've returned!

I've moved house since, started a new job and unloaded a whole loaf of my old pony collections.

I'm not really into customs anymore, but love restorations of lovely G1's to their former glory.
I hope to have some new adoptables up for you all soon!

I missed you guys a whole lot!

The Dollhouse / Jayden Fiore, Dragon CAM Reroot/repaint
« on: March 25, 2013, 06:15:53 AM »
I've shown Jayden before but now she has rooted hair instead of a fur wig and I've repainted her a little.
She's been rooted with Envy, Key Lime and a little Poison Ivy nylon.
I've repainted her lips (goodbye fangs) her eye makeup, fins, wings and scales. I completely removed the scales from her upper thighs, not that you can even see those. I couldn't bare the fact her wings were a different green compared to the rest of her, and that pale blue-green on her scales was just silly.

I've also decided that Spike is her pet.

I am never EVER rerooting another doll, I have no idea how Ravie does it without going stir crazy =p

« on: March 18, 2013, 03:02:46 AM »
Hello fellow customisers!

I am in search of someone willing to make my persona and my SO's as blind bags.
It will require some slight sculpting (RJ's hair and Storm's horn ect)

Let me know guys.
Here are refs of the ponies in question (note: Storm's hair is actually the same as the original BB boy style, I've yet to change his ref)

Arts & Crafts Corral / Commisson for Pixieponies
« on: February 28, 2013, 12:13:16 PM »
So Pixieponies commissioned me and asked me to draw her beloved real-life ponies.
I think the idea was for these to eventually end up as a tattoo so my work would be basis for the tattoo artist to work form.
Exciting!

She told me she wanted them to look like her ponies but still have the cartoonish element to them. That fortunately is something I do rather well (dodges fakies)

The ponies themselves are a gorgeous Blue Roan and a Chestnut, I just about died over the chestnut. I can't even cope with how much I love them!
Pixie was wonderful and sent me TONNES of references so I could get all their markings just right.
Here are the ponies in question. (totally nabbed these pictures from this thread http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,324009.0.html)

Ethel the blue roan.

and Tigger, the chestnut.

So after sending sketches back and forth I finally managed to sit down and finish the drawing.
I'm happy that I captured these gorgeous ponies and Pixie really liked it too.

YAY!

I'm more than happy to do this for ANYONE! Just drop me a PM.
I'd forgotten how much fun it was to draw 'real' ponies for a change.

Arts & Crafts Corral / RJ and The Changeling, Luna and Celestia alá TLU
« on: February 13, 2013, 04:43:49 PM »
Time for some more RJ art spam!

First up is RJ and The Changeling.
This was vent art, but I like how it looks. -Sometimes I draw RJ without her cutiemark on purpose-

Then after watching The Last Unicorn REPEATEDLY and reaching the GORGEOUS graphic novel version I decided to draw Luna and Celestia as dainty winged Unicorns. It's not a total mimicry of the TLU stayle, but the vibes are there.

Customs / Plush Fluttershy 12" and 6"
« on: February 08, 2013, 06:09:32 PM »
I haven't made a plushie in over 10 years. It has been even longer since I made my own patterns. Recently some friends urged me to try again stating that I may as well make ponies since they're supposedly easy :p
So I did, I made a pattern for a 12" pony.
My sister asked if she could have the first pony to be made from the pattern and requested Fluttershy.
I thought, why not. So I got to work.

Fluttershy is made entirely of minky and has been hand stitched, her eyes an cutie mark too have been sown by hand. (my sewing machine is older than I am!)
She has been stuffed with polyfibre soft toy stuffing and despite being cuddly and squishy she can stand unaided.

The amount of work that went into her goes without saying but she will be the only 12" pony I ever make. My hands and back can't take it.

My sister loves her and that's all that matters to me.

The second plush came into being because I noticed I had copious amounts of minky left over. Not being the wasteful sort I fashioned myself a much simpler and smaller pattern.
From this I made a teeny 6" Fluttershy. I find her much more endearing than her larger counterpart and she was a lot easier on my back and hands to make.
Her cutiemark and eyes were hand stitched and she can stand unaided. She fits easily in the palm of my hand, her measurements are taken from ear tip to the base of her hoof.

She is the ideal size for a teeny companion and makes a brilliant shoulder-surfer or tv buddy. As you can see here, she was right at home cuddled up to me in bed :p

Sorry the picture is so dark :(

Since the itty bitty ponies are much easier to make and I prefer them I have decided to open them for commissions.
I have three spots but they're currently all filled thanks to enthusiastic friends. However if you're interested in your own itty bitty friend just drop me a pm, I'm more than happy to offer quotes and form a wait list :)

Yay for cuddly ponies

Pony Brag Arena / Princesses and Vinyl and Baits OH MY!
« on: January 24, 2013, 09:55:45 AM »
So, routine trip into town today. Wander off into John Lewis to buy some embroidery supplies. Through I'd take a trip up to the toy dept, see if they had anything interesting...

...OH SWEET CELESTIA DID THEY!

My friend and I just about died.
So after about 10 minutes of squeeing really loudly in the middle of aisle we both bought the vinyl design-a-pony Fluttershy, White Celestia and Luna Princess packs.
She bought Rainbow Dash Design-a-Pony too but I didn't really want her =p

Upon arriving home (with my friends Fluttershy in tow) I ripped those babies out of their boxes but not before I noticed a rather amusing typo on Fluttershy's box.

'Fluttershy-y' LOL!

So here they are at home, Pinkie and Rarity went straight into my bait box.

I've since stripped both Fluttershy's of their black marks so I can paint them correctly for myself and my friend ♥

Customs / Jeanette's Rose - Carousel Custom
« on: January 17, 2013, 03:42:00 AM »
Those who are in or stalking the Carousel Swap will probably know I've been working on my own carousel pony for a while. I am delighted to say that she's finished and I can show her off to all of you.

For 6 long weeks I have been working on a single custom pony. Every ounce of my skill has gone into her and I couldn’t be prouder of the outcome.

This pony is made in memory of my Grandmother, and also for whom she is named.
I lost my grandmother 5 years ago but it doesn’t make it hurt any less. I miss her terribly still.

The pony, Jeanette’s Rose, is symbolic of all the things my grandmother and I shared. Firstly she’s a carousel horse. One of my earliest memories with my grandmother is riding the Cinderella Carousel in Disney with her. I loved it so much.
From there those painted horses became something we shared. In her will she left to me the carriage clock with a tiny porcelain carousel inside that I had coveted so much as a child.
Jeanette is covered in red roses, these were my grandmother’s favourite flower and they are still a symbol of her today in my family. On her birthday each of us have a bouquet of them out for her.
She has three tiny roses on the chain on her rump, these symbolise myself, my sister and my cousin. Her only grandchildren who she loved more than anything.
I chose to make Jeanette a grey Pegasus. Grey horses were special to my grandmother, I believe she had one when she was much younger. The Pegasus itself is a reference to the fact she is no-longer with us.
Her hair is the closest shade I could get to my grandmothers hair colour and her eyes are an exaggerated shade of her own.

On the technical side. Jeanette is mounted on a solid pine base with a wooden pole fixing her to it. She has been sculpted with Premo Sculpey and painted with citadel acrylics. She was sealed with watered down Mod Podge.
Her hair is a nylon blend in ‘Tiramasu’ which was bought from MyLittleCustoms.
She is accented with faux gems in Garnet, Ruby and Opal.

She is not for sale and will remain with me as a beautiful reminder of someone I love very much.

Now here she is in all her vintage carousel glory!

Arts & Crafts Corral / RJ's Winter Walk
« on: November 27, 2012, 11:40:55 AM »
I ADORE Winter and Christmas.
Like REALLLY LOVE THEM!

So I decided today to draw RJ in the snow.
I had the intention of only making myself a wintery icon for the Arena, my mind had other ideas.

6 and half hours later, this picture existed.

Wanted! / Princess Cadance and Shining Armour
« on: November 19, 2012, 09:06:05 AM »
From the Castle Playset.
Don't need their accessories and I don't care about their condition as they're for customs.

Ideally I would like to avoid having to buy the playset itself just for two ponies.

:)
