*POLL* Where would you travel to get to the MLP Fair?

I am not even in the States and I think the fact that it travels from location to location is perfect - as it means at some point hopefully most people should get a chance even if it takes a few years! I know when the talk of it always being in Las Vegas was mentioned that did not seem to go down very well.

I am voting for Illinois because I seem to be in O Hare at least 3 or 4 times a year in order to connect to go somewhere else and one day I would like to land there and actually see Chicago! Plus O Hare is great for international visitors as its such a key international hub!

I'd love for it to be in Chicago one year. I've never been, and we've been looking for reasons to go, it's got a ton to do including the Shedd Aquarium, etc. And it has convention centers!  Chicago!

San Francisco would be sweet too. NYC would be amazing, I'd go in a heartbeat. Nashville... Cleveland..

I wish it would make it back to Minnesota (I had no idea the convention even existed then even though I was a collector) or somewhere in the midwest or middle of the states instead of constantly being on the coasts.  Minnesota and Colorado have lots to do as well as South Dakota.  I would love to be able to go to a convention in Florida or California but I wouldn't be able to afford all the other attractions and have time to see them all.  Those would be better as separate vacations in my opinion.

I know the fair is in Florida this year, but I can't go even though I live in Georgia because I have vertigo and I can't go on long car drives.  It driving me crazy that the fair  is so close yet so far!

I'm much more likely to go when we can drive to it in a day or two, but I like seeing it move around the way it has, too, and it makes a great excuse to travel. I wonder if a poll with *areas* of the country rather than each of the states would be more informative (and easier to vote on lol)? Just a thought. I was just telling DB theother day that Chicago would be a cool venue, centrally located for a lot of folks for driving, and easy to get to by air, and we'd definitely make a good vacation out of it,  but I bet it's pretty expensive there.


as for Rhode Island having nothing to do--no way!!   it's an hour or so to Boston, with lots of historical stuff in between, and it's not terribly far to ehhh what's the name of the town with all the seaside mansions (including the mansion used for the original Dark Shadows tv show)--- ah, yeah, Newport... And if you don't have transportation while you're there, Providence is a college town, so there's plenty to do for a long weekend, like the Waterfire (no doubt the inspiration for G3 of the same name!). (all imho of course... I'm more at a loss for stuff to do in Orlando than in Providence, not being into theme parks at all lol). (I say all this because 2013 is the thirtieth anniversary of MLP, so I can see Hasbro being interested in having it up there again)(but I would vote for not having it at their headquarters, since it was only one day). (And no, I don't live there or work for their dept of  tourism, hehe. I just really like the town.)

There needs to be an 'all of the above' choice on there. . I use my tax return each year, and since I'm in California, last year and this year are about as far away as possible!  but that's what I love, the fair is my major 'me' trip.  Since I get a booth it usually pays for itself, too.

I voted Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana! Those are all withing comfortable driving range of me!

For me, it's not the distance that is an issue, but the heat!  Orlando is within comfortable driving distance for me, but for health reasons there is absolutely no way that I can handle being down there in the middle of summer.  I struggle every day for months here in South Carolina, which is a big part of why I desperately want to move back to the Midwest.  I did vote North Carolina in the poll simply for closeness reasons (I drive to Charlotte pretty much every weekend as it is) but also voted for Michigan and Ohio.  Michigan will always be "home" to me, and Ohio gives me another opportunity to go to Cedar Point ;-)

Hehe, I was selfish and chose Missouri and Illinois... then I picked one of my favorite states (Colorado).  I would have picked Wyoming, but I didn't think that stood a snowball's chance, lol. 

I'm pretty much willing to drive anywhere I can latch a vacation onto except probably for California **dodges fakies**.  It'd have to be Northern CA so I could hit up the northwest in general.

I voted for TN, Indiana, and NC...but I would love it to be in Chicago one year. I know that  reasons in the past have been that Chicago (and Atlanta and some other cities) are just SO expensive that our Fair-going and booth costs would go UP if they did one of those cities.

I always vote for Chicago.  Yes because it is close to me, like 5 hours, but also so much to do and easy for people to travel too.  I hold out hope one year it will be there.  I will travel anywhere that is within 1 day of driving, if I have the funds and am not pregnant like this year
