My dolly hair arrived
« on: February 26, 2013, 07:45:42 AM »
So I ordered some Dolly hair for my ponies (I had a few missing some tails and I want to get into customs)

I had heard some stories about them cheating on the hair and I was really worried about it. Most of the hair I ordered as was 16-20grams however I ordered the *mystery 5 hair hanks for $10 and they were very thin, the lightest was 12 grams)

regardless I am excited to start some hair-ing!

Here is my hair I got

Ah your ponies look so much happier now.  Be sure to mark a hoof though that they have new tails.

Thank you everyone! I'm so glad that others are enjoying hair-ing their ponies or having their ponies with new hair.

Diamond, is there a certain way I need to mark my ponies since I gave them tails? I feel kinda wrong writing on any of my ladies, especially since they just got to join the heard with their new looks. I may sound a little dumb (I'm new to rehairing so I apologize) but is there a reason I need to mark their foot? I mean I don't care that they are the ones with new hair and since I took pictures I'll remember who has new hair (like I said not that it matters to me). But is it something that the hair company makes you do or how does that work? (Once again as I type this and read it I feel like it sounds rude but please don't think that i'm just confused so none of these questions are meant to sound negative at all!!!)

I guess I can see where people would want to mark their ponies they rehair like a signature so they can show them off or sell them but that's not what I'd like to do.

So I guess my question is why do I need to mark their feet? I don't want to get anyone in trouble or anything and I want to do whats right so please let me know!

Thank you!

People mark the ponies so no one will accidentally (or on purpose) sell them without saying they are rehairs.

But I really dont like it when people write/mark on ponies.. I would be happy to buy a rehair but I would never buy a pony that has writing/marks on her, even if its on hooves. I just dont like it. Let's say I buy a pony that had her tail rehaired. If I have a real hasbro tail from another pony, I would change the tail. But she would still be stuck with the markings.

Since you do not plan to sell them right now, perhaps just keep a list with photos of the ones that have been "modified." Or, use a string marking tag to keep them marked. That way you can be certain that if/when you sell, it's sold as a re-hair. Hopefully those suggestions don't upset anyone.

*insert quivering bottom lip* I don't want to sell my ladies!! D: I have such a small collection it would break my heart to do it!

But I can see where you guys are coming from. I will keep records on who I rehair but I don't plan on selling any of my gals.

I also agree I hate the idea of writing on ponies, it makes me cringe.
