If anyone inherited my childhood toys from our garage sales, etc, I'd actually consider them very lucky! I've struggled with OCD all of my life, and keeping my toys as pristine as possible was one of my obsessions. The toys I still have with me from my childhood are like new, most still with their original tags and/or boxes. Since I was so obsessed with keeping them as nice as possible, it would destroy me it anything happened to them. I had a favorite teddy bear, and my beloved dog took her from my shelf and pulled off her nose while I wasn't home. My dad tossed out the bear. I cried and cried. It was a gift from my uncle who has passed away, and I still think about that bear sometimes even though it has been many years. Of course, my dog was the sweetest thing ever, so I could not stay mad at her for long, and forgave her right away.

I wonder how much that shipping would be from Japan to here (US for me). I have a subscription box from Japan that costs about $15 for shipping!! I've also seen those posts about wild Mimics, and I honestly don't know how I would be able to handle myself if I found her somewhere like a garage sale or thrift shop!!

I hope you're able to get those Mountain ponies! Always feels great to get your dream ponies, especially if they aren't as much as an investment as Mimic is 

I live in Japan so shipping for her would have been free! But unfortunately I missed out. In general ponies here are priced higher than abroad, but for some reason really rare or sought after ones tend to go for less than they do in US/Europe/etc. There was a bundle of two Glow N Shows for just $30 a few months ago that I missed out on.

I think its people's addictions to parrots.

Not going to lie, I was addicted to parrots as a child. Wanted to walk around with one on my shoulder like a pirate.... still do.

I got mine for around $200 plus shipping, and it was only about a year ago.

That is pretty reasonable! I'd pay that for her. I'm glad you found her.

If you have me on Discord in any server, you already know my struggles with Mimic, lol. I feel like the ones on eBay right now going for $1,000+ is just simple price gouging due to people in the US getting stimulus checks. I despise price gougers because they know what they're doing and it's scummy.
People have told me that she used to go for about $150+ a few years ago, and then once Covid hit her prices soared. It could be a mix of simple inflation of prices with the pandemic and rise in collecting and nostalgia raising the prices. The $1,000+ Mimics are severely overpriced due to price gouging.

I personally love Mimic because she has a nice pose, beautiful colors, and she is a twinkle eye, which is my favorite G1 gimmicks. Not everyone is a fan of her, but to those who do love her it's hard to see these prices...
 

I agree, her pose and colors are beautiful. When I first started collecting I didn't care for twinkle eyed ponies, since the eyes of a pony are the most charming to me and I thought the gem took away a bit of their personality by covering their eyes. But now I find them beautiful. I'd love to have a Mimic, but I don't want to pay more than $250 for her, if that is even possible anymore. I saw that she sold in Japan for about $150 last year, unfortunately I wasn't collecting then, so I didn't get the chance to get her. I've had dreams about finding her in the wild. It looks like from other posts it may be possible. Hopefully my dream will come true. But honestly, there are other ponies that I want more than her, such as the Mountain Boys, especially Sunburst.

I would go with A!  I am a huge lover of fakies so I wouldn't want to sacrifice them!

I have a wooden cabinet where I keep all my ponies until I move to a bigger place and have room for shelves. When I open the cabinet that G1 pony smell just WHOOSH floods my nostrils. It's kind of addicting??? What did they put into this plastic so that they smell so sweet? I know I'm not the only one out there addicted to that smell!

I had 3 G1 puzzles when I was little but I think the only one I still have is the baby sea pony one.  I made a really cute pic with it a few years ago with the G4 movie baby sea ponies putting it together.  I'd love to own more G1 puzzles.

What a great idea for a photo! So cute.

Not really "weird," but frustrating nonetheless. I have purchased things on Mercari, have waited over a week for a response from the seller, and have had to end up cancelling the order because they just would not send the item or answer my messages. It's really unfortunate, because some of these items I really wanted. A week ago I purchased two fakies that were actually quite beautiful that I was really excited about but the seller has not contacted me, so I may have to cancel that order as well.

Another thing that is really frustrating is that a package will come while I am at work, so I can't sign for it and complete the delivery on the day the seller expects me to receive it. I have had several sellers block me or leave a bad review because I couldn't report that I had received the order on the day that they expected since I had to wait for it to be redelivered the next day.

I have also asked a seller if the hair of a pony had been cut, because it looked a little short in the picture. She got very defensive saying something like, "I did not cut its hair! I would not do that!" I think she thought I accused her of cutting the hair herself.
