Discovering/Rediscovering Old Cartoons
« on: July 20, 2012, 05:51:46 PM »
I am sure that many of the members here partake in many different cartoons.  Do you find yourself discovering ones that you never watched but knew were out there or rediscovered ones you used to watch?  I have been doing both lately.  I watched the first episode of both Jem and the Holograms and She-ra Princess of Power today and i found that I really liked them both!  A little cheesy of course but good writing and interesting.  I have to say that Catra and the goofy red monster with bug eyes are really annoying to listen to though lol.  I like Kowl, but I think Battle Cat's real identity is kind of annoying.  He reminds me of Snarf from the Thundercats but way worse lol.  Finally, I think Bow's mustache is ridiculous lol.  I have also been watching Gargoyles on youtube after being reminded of it on another thread.

Has anyone else here discovered a vintage cartoon that you actually like or rediscovered one you used to watch?

A while ago, I rediscovered Doug. I grew up watching it and always loved its bizarre take on social awkwardness... plus the characters are just too much fun.

I grew up with the Nickelodeon one though since I never had the Disney channel until I was a bit older, and always swore that the Disney one was horrible and I would never ever watch it ever.

Well, guess who's 23 years old and kind of addicted to Disney's Doug?

I gave Batman Beyond a rewatch about a year ago. It's held up really well. One of the better animated series of the past twenty years, for sure.

I've never been into Batman or any superheroes really (though I have always guilty pleasure loved the old Space Ghost cartoons!) but the Batman Animated Series is on my "I think I'd like to get into it if I have the time" list.

I recently started re-watching the early 90's X-Men cartoon again now that it's on Netflix, and I know it's not a "cartoon", but I broke out my Neon Genesis box set last night.  :)  I tend to keep rewatching old cartoon series that I loved, so they stay pretty current in my mind.

Jem! I am having a Jem time at the moment - I think its because she is having a come back but I have now watched Battle of the Bands about a half dozen times in the last 2 weeks.

Oh...and Gummy Bears - I found a channel showing these at 5 in the morning - the original episodes! Thank goodness for my Sky TV recorder!

Also, I was never allowed to watch The Simpsons as a child, so I'm getting into it now. It's pretty awesome. (I actually had a dream last night that Groundskeeper Willie was a member here. And Mr. Burns stole his ponies. :lmao:)
