HI guys I've been knocking about on some mlp pages on facebook for a while, just looking whats around and how things work in the pony world.
Ive been buying G4's for my girls for a couple of years but they are kind of growing out of them now, so I sold a few and the rest I'm going to keep, in a box in the loft, so my girlies can re live their childhood in 30 years
This means I'm getting an itch about collecting G1's.
I only ever had AJ as a kid. so I'm going to rectify that I'm starting small, just after a few UK G1's and then take it from there. I read on a wiki page the original 6 were butterscotch, bluebelle, minty, snuzzle, cotton candy and blossom. if this is correct, this is where I want to start...and Apple jack, I must get my Apple jack back my only stipulation is original hair, besides that, as long as they are tidy, I'm relatively easy to please  
I'm also looking forward to making some lifelong pony friends

Welcome! You're in for a wonderful and shocking treat! Ponies are far more wide spread and complicated than you've ever thought they could be
You have the origional 6 correct, so that's a start. Are you looking for flat foots (the VErY first My Little Ponies) the concaved versions, mail orders, Mexican, Italian, Macau, Argentinian, Peruvian... all of these different counttries and more made their own Collector's Pose ponies. See what i mean?
Don't worry, it'll all become old hat in time and it's super fun finding out about them! Everyone is super nice here, and trading is fun and exciting with people all over the world! Good luck on your quest to find your Applejack

Although the ponies you mention are indeed the first released ponies, I always think of the next set as the originals because they were the first ones released in my country.  Cotton Candy, Blossom, AJ, Bow Tie, Bubbles, Seashell, Twilight, Glory, Sunbeam, Moondancer, Firefly and Medley.  So now you have an excuse to buy another 12 ponies, lol
