I don't own any G1s MIP (the only one I had was Dumdedum, but she was sold off years ago). I would be too tempted to take them out and love on them. :)

As for G3s, I had them all in boxes - but then went through and deboxed pretty much all of them. The only ones I kept in boxes was Kimono as "Belle", the holiday ponies, and a couple of the double 1st release sets. Oh and all the art ponies and SDCC ponies are MIB. I like their boxes and they display well (well at least the art ponies, I guess the SDCC boxes aren't much to look at).

The G4s, we only have 3 (4 if you count Baby Sunny Daze) and they are all DDs and out of their packages. :)

I prefer to let the herd roam free! The only thing I kept in box was the 2011 Pinkie Pie Ornament, but that's only becuase my family always keeps ornaments in their boxes lol. She came out to go on the tree, though, so she's not really MIB.
I like brushing my ponies' hair as much as I like collecting them, and I feel like they look better out of their boxes.

I agree with you, except I would sell the MIBs xD I can't keep MIBs, I just feel that I need to free them. So, considering how valuable they are and how sought after they are, I would sell them and buy loose ponies with the money :D

I prefer loose, so I can play with them.  Except in the case of the exclusives, I keep them in their boxes because they are so pretty that way.  I don't have a problem with MIB collecting, it's just not for me.

I like to diplay mine, pose them pretty with flowers outside and put ribbons in their hair. You can't do that with a MIB pony.
Granted, a 5 dollar pony will be a 35 dollar pony MIB, but I just get much more enjoyment out of my collection loose :)

I do like my ponies super mint though, so I'm always tempted when I see a MIB pony to get it just for that fact. I haven't yet because it's probably a cardinal sin :P

I much prefer loose. My first puchase after my 5-year hiatus stayed MIB for a month or so, but once I pulled the other ponies out, she HAD to be released, I wanted to see her with her 'family'. I tried it with the g4s, then I got a few more... and had to let them all out together! I'd never buy MIB unless it was an insanely good deal on something rare or special. For instance, I'd buy a MIB Ruby Lips, because I remember buying her as a child. I'd need a special reason to keep anything MIB, just because I have no willpower at all. Not to mention I don't have the space right now for boxes anyway. So definitely loose. I love to touch, smell and pose and rearrange them, and clean new ones when they come to their new home, it's like a bonding session!

I keep the large G4 MIB but the small brushables/blind bags I open. It's not a value thing for me though, it's keeping them in perfect condition.
The only MOC ponies I have are Lanard fakies, I don't want to collect any other MOC because these girls are so special to me. I just love the designs of the Lanards!
All my G1, G2 & G3 are loose and mingling on shelves. :)

I adore G1's (and some G2's) MIB, but any other gen...eh. G3 had the plastic boxes which weren't very aesthetically appealing, and G4 just doesn't grab me. I just don't have the money for MIB G1's! :P

I like having the odd MOC pony to look at but I prefer the bulk of my collection to be free so I can play with their hair :)

I like mine loose for the most part.  But a toy MIB just has another purpose...as a thing of beauty.  C:  Sometimes the purpose of any given object changes.  And that's okay! C:

Most of my collection are opened, though if I were to ever obtain a MOC G1, I would probably keep it that way. Although... my MIB Snuzzle is always tempting me >_<

I have the odd G3 that I've never opened... and with the upcoming G4s, I'm considering leaving them in their packaging. I have no idea what spurred me into that.
