Argh!  I'm so frustrated with eBay sellers right now!  What in the world is going on with pony prices?!


There are some ponies that I would be interested in purchasing, but all I find are sellers that are trying to price gouge collectors through the roof by inflating the prices of ponies 4-5x the actual value of ponies!  Seriously?!  I just tried to submit a reasonable (but still 'overpriced') offer on pony, not once, but three times and all offers where immediately refused.    Are you kidding me?  Ponies are not gold mines people...a Peachy is a dime a dozen, and just because your pony has tinsel in her hair or jeweled eyes or bums doesn't make them the holy grail!

I hear you..Im tired of seeing lots on ebay where people are asking hundred and hundreds of dollars when the ponies are common with flaws and there isn't even a single hard to find or mail order in the lot. I think some people are just cleaning out the attic and seeing some ponies sell for alot so they figure they all do. Research goes a long way ....just because something is old doesn't mean it is worth what other similiar items are. This goes for any toy line...I wish people would research a bit more but then on the other hand some don't and list some cheaper then they should I suppose so perhaps take the good with the bad

A lot of the reason for this is rooted in how much eBay charges for fees, I'm afraid.  I know that's what I am up against as an eBay seller.

someone was selling a pony i wanted to get for a swap i was in around christmas, and it was a mc donalds pony, out of the package, an old g3 one, and they said $4 or best offer. so i offered 2 and it instantly refused, and i offered 3, and instantly refused. how much lower can you go from $4?! why put "or best offer" if you aren't going to accept anything lower?

I would say they are pricing them so high  because they are getting it! I was bidding on a issue one of my little pony fim magazine the uk one. and they bid it up to 100.00 dollars! that and the fees feebay charges,and paypal fees.

I think everyone is hopping on the FiM bandwagon right now. They cruise the internet, see people doing memes and talking about this new MLP show, maybe they even see the plushies on ebay going for hundreds of dollars. Then they say to themselves "Heeey don't I have MLP toys leftover in the attic somewhere? Now is the perfect time to sell them!"

And of course they don't do research, that would be too much work. They just plunk a random fee on there and try to make some money.

I was just looking on the 'bay for some G1 babies. Some of them are going for super high prices! But as a new collector, I don't know if the prices I'm seeing them sell for are reasonable or too high. I'd rather buy from someone here anyway.

Depends on which pony!    You can always ask if a certain one is more HTF.

That's why I pretty much just buy from here now. Some sellers seem to think that anything "vintage" should be priced ridiculously high.

Yes. I started delving into g3 ponies, now that I pretty much have all the g4s, and people on ebay are trying to sell MIB commons on for $25+, when people here on the arena are selling the same ones for $5-10.
