We use them as rags for cleaning etc. They make good rags, waste not want not.

So do we. Useful for cleaning the car, etc :)

I was going to say you could cut them up and use them as rags (it's what my mom used to do), but what H&M does is really cool!

If you'd rather do something creative and are handy with a sewing machine, you could always make a t-shirt quilt if your old shirts have graphics on them that you like or mean something to you.

Like I said in my initial post, my family does cut up worn out clothes for rags, but I don't need this many; I have enough to last a long time.

Owlsy, my mom's been meaning to make a t-shirt quilt from all my childhood shirts for the longest time! But most of my clothes now are just plain colors.

Depending on how icky they are, I usually keep them.  There are time when I need junky, worn out clothes (working outside, washing the car, pool/beach) and I have a drawer in my second dresser just filled with icky clothes.  If they're too icky, smelly, overly ripped up, I just toss 'em.

I actually do have a box of junky clothes for messy activities, including parts of my job. Actually, now that you mention it, I should probably compare what's in there with what's newly-bad and keep whichever's relatively better.

I've made fluffy t-shirt rugs before like this:

You just cut strips out of the tee, stretch 'em out, then weave them into a latchhook base or even poke holes into a bigger piece of tee to use as the base. I'm sure there are better references online somewhere. Kinda fun & funky! I made a biiig one & used it as the area rug in my first apartment (hardwood floor).

Do you have pets? If you do cut strips from a tee and braid them. They make good pet toys. My sister made some once at Girl Scouts and my dogs loved them.
