Any info on this mystery baby?

My friend sent me a pic of the cut she made in this babys neck plug .. It shows no sign of other colour?

I will post the pic tomorrow, now I'm just visiting with my phone..

Any speculation? And how can you be 100% sure it is not dyed?
In a situation like this, is it ok to split the neck plug?

If she were mine, I'd put her in very hot water and watch closely for color leeching. If she's dyed some of the dye should release and tint the water brownish, or you could heat her under hot running water and give her a swipe with a wet, white cloth INSIDE the body or head. Again, the ink should leech enough to just stain the cloth. This technique won't cause permanent damage to the pony in any way. The dye job is good, and a swipe on the outside might remove enough color to be noticable...that's why I suggest wiping the inside.
I wouldn't use any chemicals, just hot water

She said she dipped the pony into hot water and there was no leak. And scraped the inside too and no other color was shown..

Huh. Well...if she did all of that then perhaps she's a prototype. That's what I would assume, though I've never cut into a dyed pony myself to see what would be shown. I think we've exhausted all the ways to figure out if she's been painted or dip-dyed. Does anyone else have any ideas?

It is kinda hard to find out what she is.. It seems that if it is dyed it is pretty even..

If she's a prototype, that raises the question why she's missing her hair.  If someone was going to use her for custom, surely they would've realized. . .  And she's definitely had hair at one point, else her mane wouldn't have been punched, right?

As a general rule, prototypes don't have punched hair holes without hair (unless someone pulled it all out later on).  It could be this pony was dyed a very long time ago?  Given enough time, dye will completely settle into the plastic very evenly, to the point where you can't tell the difference.  Still a very cute find!

Here is some new info:

Her tail hole is smaller than normal baby (thou I haven't studied how much they usually vary) and her plug holes aren't completely open. My friend says it looks like she has never had hair. They won't go all the way through, exept a couple in the bottom of the neck. It's hard to take a pic where it shows properly..

Hmmm. She's definately an interesting girl. Sometimes I've seen dyed ponies that leave just a *hint* of the old symbols where they've been removed or not quite removed. Peerhaps if you take her into a variety of lights...day, flourescent, bulb...something might pop up that way, or hold her up to a light and check for inconsistancies, like candling an egg.
Other than that I really can't think of anything else that might tell us more about her. I have seen one of a kinds (ooak) that have hair and were brought home possibly by employees...Ember1's hybrid Merry Go Round pony is a good example, and she was drawn on and everything, so who knows?

The vinyl of MLP has a lot of memory to it, and when hair is taken out and left without hair for a long time, the plugs in the mane can appear less and less until it looks like they might not be pierced all the way through.  Same with the tail hole, the elasticity of the vinyl has maybe snapped back some, making it smaller because no tail has been there keeping it stretched?

Just throwing few ideas. Could it be that she's actually a fakie? I heard that some fakies still have the markings under the feet, just not as thick and visible as on the real MLP.

Or maybe the color is from a very bad discoloration from rust? The eyes look pretty much like baby Schoolbags, though I'm not sure if the pink could change into such color even because of rust... Or maybe one of the Seaside Babies, the orange one got discolored?

Alternately she could be a prototype of Dutch Baby Cat pony
