Hi y'all! Greetings from Southwest VA, USA
« on: February 18, 2014, 01:53:35 PM »
Hi everybody!

Thank you for allowing me to join the message board. I'm 29 years old, married, and mother to a threen-age (aka a three year old that acts like a teenager at times) little girl.

I found this board over the weekend when I was researching ways to clean up my old My Little Ponies (which I believe are g1-g2?). For the past few months my little girl has adored watching the new show (the friendship in magic edition) and the equestria girls movie as well (she especially adores the cafeteria dance scene, she even puts on her cat ear headband and tries to dance and sing along to it).

This has rekindled my love/interest in my old collection of Ponies. I pulled my bag out of the closet that I had them stored in and have started letting her play with some of the ones that weren't as too well loved (I never gave any of them a hair cut but other grooming/decorating was done). Seeing my daughter play with them just relit that spark.

Since then I've purchased a set of the current ponies for her, along with the oversized Twilight Sparkle that lights up and talks and whatnot. Once I did that I have gradually taken my old ponies back so that I can clean them up and inventory them. Her obsession with Ponies is even bigger than mine right now. She not only has the ponies that I mentioned above, she also has multiple shirts and a pony jacket, along with a pony water bottle, a set of wall decals and a Pinkie Pie build-a-bear pony. If this tells you anything her pony water bottle and one of the small ponies go to preschool with her each day.

What I'd like to get out of joining this group is learning more about the ponies that held such a special place in my heart (and still do) as a child. I'd love to "meet" others who feel the same.

For the record my daughters current favorite pony is Twilight Sparkle (with Pinkie Pie being a very close second) and mine is a yellow/greenish glitter one with purple and tinsel hair.  I apologize for not knowing the name, that's something I'm trying very hard to learn.

I don't think I'll ever be a serious collector, I just had so much playing with them as a kid that I wanted to pass that love along to my daughter. I think I may start picking up a few here and there for the fun of it so I can learn to "restore" them.

I used to take mine back and forth to the hospital all the time when I was younger and my real mom was very ill (hence the "well loved" comment from early, they got wiped down every visit and a serious bath every week or so).

Welcome to the Arena

I grew up with the G1 ponies too and reading your post really made me smile. I'm glad you still have your childhood ponies and are looking at ways to restore them.  Enjoy the forums :frolic:

:newpony: Welcome to the Arena.  Ah that is so great you have your little girl to now play ponies with.  And your old favorite sounds like Napper from the Sparkle Ponies.
