Me, too. He's knows that ponies are off limits so when I set it by him he backed up. He eventually gave it a sniff and now it's safe in the display case.

My pup is named Wesley after the man in black from princess bride. So the custom is dpr Wesley. My dog lives up to his dread pirate Roberts alter ego sometimes.

That is hilarious! What does he Do, in Dread Pirate Robert mode?

He's training as a service dog and responds exceptionally well to positive reinforcement. However, his breed is primitive. Very pack oriented and protective. He had to learn not to bark. I got a gentle leader which is similar to a horse halter. It controls his nose so he can't look away or pull. My trainer wanted me to use it at other times he didn't listen as well.

I discovered that if left on for more than a minute he will just stop paying attention entirely. He rolls his eyes, looks away, and refuses any command. He very clearly is saying that he knows how to do that already and why should he if I don't take the leader off.  This pup met the trainer at nine weeks old and in less than fifteen minutes he knew sit, down, and stay. Sometimes he's too smart. His other moments are certain people. He goes everywhere with me and is very laidback. He's used to it since he has since eight weeks old. One of my doctors is not okay in Wesley's opinion. He growled the entire fifteen minute appointment. If he doesn't know you and you stick your face in his while maintaining eye contact he'll see it as a challenge. Only at home though. He's learned that when the vest is on he's working. He also steals my daughter's socks and hides them in strange places. Oh my, and the glare I get if his puppy supper is late.
He has one last test to pass for full service dog status. As soon as he can walk ok again he'll pass with no trouble.

He's a schipperke. They're shepherds and boat dogs from Belgium.
